Such Is Life
You never know with human life.
Take, for instance, buying a lottery ticket without a second thought and winning first prize. Or the old man you pulled from an accident turning out to be an absurdly wealthy tycoon. Or else you go to sleep like any ordinary night, and when you wake up…
You could find yourself reincarnated as a woman, just like that. That, it seemed, was human life.
If only the first two had been what actually happened to me, I would have been genuinely happy. What actually happened, of course, was only the last one.
…How unfortunate. Damn it.
Still, it was all right enough. My new parents were kind, and the family had a fair amount of money. As for the changed gender—I just adapted as I grew up. Somewhere along the way I made a friend who truly clicked with me. And with that friend, remarkably enough… after we became adults, we even ended up living together.
"Waaah! Sihyun! Yu Sihyun!"
"Whoa—you startled me! What's with the sudden yelling?"
"I passed! I got in!"
…And yet.
And yet, you see.

"But what? Don't leave me hanging mid-sentence."
I may not have chosen it, exactly… but somehow I was living a second life.
