The Lazy Genius and the Forbidden Magic
I was deep in my workshop, as always, buried in magical research, when it happened.
“W-wait! Why are you doing this to me?!”
“Silence, you wicked sorcerer!”
“Rayburn Clovias. Your crimes have been exposed!”
Out of nowhere, my younger brother—who was about to graduate from the academy—burst into my workshop fully armed, soldiers in tow.
“Little brother! What the hell is this about?!”
“Elder brother… No. Rayburn.”
He had always looked at me like I was pathetic, but he’d never dropped the formal speech before. Now he stared down at me, cornered against the wall, with ice-cold eyes.
“We received a report that you’ve been researching forbidden magic in order to seize control of our family.”
“W-what? When did I ever—!”
“Shut your mouth! Were you that furious about losing the heir position to your own little brother?!”
Thud—!
His sharp sword slammed into the floor of my workshop. Everyone around him wore vicious expressions, spears leveled at me.
“Little brother! Just listen to me—!”
“There’s nothing to listen to! Bind him before he can cast any spells—”
“Do you seriously think I want to play at being a noble?!” I screamed, not giving them a single second to interrupt. “I want to dump all the annoying crap on you, live off my allowance, and spend the rest of my life doing nothing but research!!!”
. . .
My heartfelt confession poured out without the slightest pause.
The moment he heard it, my brother dropped his sword. His knees hit the ground as if he’d been struck by overwhelming emotion.
“In that case… please, continue researching forbidden magic, Elder Brother…!”
