The Unfilial Daughter
The water roared like a waterfall. After finishing her shower at Kim Taegon’s house for the first time in a while, Yuria stepped into the living room with a refreshed expression on her face. The house was quiet. Her father was out working and wouldn’t be back for some time. She pulled a can of beer from the fridge and gazed at the sunset slowly sinking beyond the horizon.
Then, almost unconsciously, her hand drifted between her legs.
“Hngh…♡”
Four whole days. Four days of endless, utterly depraved sex. Yuria lifted the hem of her t-shirt and stared at the vivid blue bruises blooming across her breasts and waist. She had completely awakened to the pleasure of submitting to the tyrant. Even the stinging pain had begun to transform into ecstasy. Just remembering the crack of Jihyeok’s whip against her skin made her lower lips grow slick with arousal.
“Haa…”
She let out a heavy sigh and cursed her father. She had wanted to stay in Uijeongbu, but he had insisted there was something he needed to discuss with Jihyeok and asked for his help. Jihyeok had agreed and left for the company. Before he went, he had told her to come home and at least see her father’s face once. She had wanted to wait for him there, but she could not disobey his order. So here she was.
Irritated with her father for no good reason, Yuria took a swig of beer. As she drank, she recalled the things Jihyeok had whispered to her between thrusts.
Did Father really… destroy the kingdom?
That was what Jihyeok had said. That her incompetent father had brought ruin upon their homeland. At first she had only nodded along while desperately telling herself it wasn’t true. But after receiving so much of his affection, her thoughts had begun to change. The man who loved her enough to drive her to climax every single time would never lie to her. That was what she had decided.
Yet if her father had truly caused the kingdom’s fall… the mere thought made her feel like she was losing her mind. The idea that he had sacrificed countless lives for the sake of his own power, then reincarnated and turned his arrows against Tyrat, filled her with unbearable sorrow. Yuria resolved to ask him about it while she had the chance.
She had been sitting in the living room thinking about Jihyeok for a long time. When the sun had completely set, the front door opened and Kim Taegon stepped inside. Yuria shot to her feet.
“Dad! You’re ba—”
She froze mid-sentence. Kim Taegon’s face was covered in ugly purple bruises. It wasn’t just one or two. One eye was swollen shut, his lip was split, and countless small cuts littered his skin. He was limping badly; his body clearly hadn’t escaped injury either.
Flustered, Yuria asked, “What… what on earth happened?”
“Yuria… ugh…”
“Sit down first.”
She helped him to the sofa, then began rummaging through the shelves for the first-aid kit. But Kim Taegon stopped her.
“It’s fine. I already went to the hospital. They’re just bruises. No broken bones. The doctor said they’ll heal in a few days if I rest.”
“Who did this? Tell me.”
Her voice burned with fury. Kim Taegon gave a weak chuckle, then gritted his teeth. After glancing at her expression, he finally confessed.
“Song Jihyeok.”
Yuria’s eyes widened. “What… did you just say…?”
Jihyeok had done this to her father? Why? What possible reason could he have?
For a brief moment, Yuria’s mind fell into utter chaos. The next emotion that rose wasn’t anger, but understanding. Jihyeok had never liked her father. He had always seen the man as pathetic for riding on the coattails of the company Kim Taegon had built before his reincarnation. Still, Jihyeok had shown restraint because the man was her father. But to beat him this badly today? There had to be a reason.
While she wrestled with her thoughts, Kim Taegon moved his jaw experimentally and muttered, “Seeing his true nature makes me regret ever suggesting we do business together.”
Yuria snapped back to attention. “Why… why did you fight?”
“I’ll tell you the truth, so don’t get angry with Song Jihyeok.”
Of course she wouldn’t. How could someone like her possibly raise her voice at someone as exalted as Jihyeok? Still, in front of her father, it was better not to voice such thoughts. Yuria nodded, and Kim Taegon continued.
“I casually brought up the subject of you. When he said your relationship was good, I suggested we go fishing together. He agreed, so we went to a fishing spot in Gyeonggi Province.”
At the dismissive term “that bastard,” Yuria’s eyebrow twitched. He was speaking about a man her incompetent father wouldn’t even dare look at directly. To call him that so casually… it was absurd.
“And then?”
“I wanted to talk somewhere quiet. After all, he could become my future son-in-law. So we fished in silence while I tried to learn more about him.”
Yuria’s expression softened a little. She felt a surge of warmth knowing her father had been thinking of her. As expected, a parent’s heart always leaned toward their child. He really was her father after all.
“At first I thought he was a decent young man. He answered every question diligently and showed me proper respect. But… when the topic turned to his parents, he suddenly flew into a rage.”
“His parents? Jihyeok’s parents passed away in a car accident…”
“I know. He answered that part without hesitation. He even told me what they had done for a living. I asked about his ancestors as well.”
Yuria felt the conversation was veering into strange territory. Why had ancestors suddenly come up? She tilted her head, listening as Kim Taegon went on.
“If he’s going to marry you, his bloodline should be respectable. That’s only natural. But when Song Jihyeok said he didn’t know, I asked if his ancestors were of low birth. He claimed he wasn’t sure about his lineage.”
“……”
Yuria’s face darkened ominously. Kim Taegon, oblivious to her changing expression, continued.
“So I told him to look into it. That I would never marry you off to someone from such a worthless family. That’s when Song Jihyeok exploded. He said I was getting arrogant because he had been too lenient…”
“Haa…”
Yuria let out a long sigh. Kim Taegon gave a dry laugh.
“Yes, I suppose he found me pathetic. In any case, I also lost my temper at that youngster who didn’t even understand proper hierarchy. We argued, and then I was beaten one-sidedly. I plan to sue him soon.”
“Dad!!”
Yuria shot up from her seat with a shout. Kim Taegon flinched and leaned back against the sofa.
“W-why are you reacting like that?”
She couldn’t believe how pathetic her father was. What century did he think this was to be talking about bloodlines and ancestors? And “proper hierarchy”? Who had started acting like an old fossil first? She could no longer understand a father who still carried himself like the monarch of a fallen kingdom. It was a mercy that Jihyeok had stopped at this much. He must have held back for her sake. Otherwise her father would already be fish food at the bottom of that lake.
“What kind of nonsense have you been saying?! Why did you even bring up his ancestors?!”
“For your future husband, it is only right to examine his bloodline. Aaron did the same.”
Crack.
Yuria ground her teeth and swung her arm through the air in frustration. “Forget about Aaron!”
“What did you…?”
“Do you think this is still the kingdom?! Or do you believe you’re the president of this country?! You’re nothing but an ordinary citizen! Why are you acting like you’re above everyone else?!”
“Yuria… you’re…”
“How much have I suffered for you…?! Why are you doing such pathetic, stupid things?! Why?! Why!!”
Her roar shook the entire house. Overwhelmed by the sheer volume, Kim Taegon shrank back.
“I was only thinking of your future…”
“If you’re thinking of me, then just stay quiet! I told you not to do anything that would bother Jihyeok! You agreed with me!”
“Is asking such questions really something that would bother Song Jihyeok…? It’s a perfectly reasonable question for a future father-in-law to ask…”
“Have you even considered how ordinary people on Earth would react to talk like that?! Please try to understand other people’s hearts before you open your mouth! Don’t just spit out whatever nonsense pops into your head!”
Unable to tolerate his daughter’s defiance any longer, Kim Taegon sprang to his feet. Grimacing from the pain of his injuries, he still scolded her.
“Yuria Elenar! As your father, am I not even allowed to ask this much?!”
“You can ask! But your method was completely wrong! Why would you speak that way when you have no real standing?! Anyone would feel insulted if you talked to them like that!”
“I’ve had enough of your tantrums! Shut your mouth and go to your room to reflect!”
“Do you really think I’ll do what you say? You used to be wise… Why have you become so authoritarian, so stuck in these outdated ways of thinking? Did drinking the filthy water of this Earth rot your brain?!”
“You wretched girl!”
Kim Taegon took a threatening step forward. But Yuria didn’t show the slightest trace of fear. She stared him down with cold, steady eyes and warned him in a low voice.
“Never call me that again.”
“You—!”
His face flushed crimson with rage, yet he couldn’t bring himself to push further. Seeing his reaction, Yuria realized it was because of the power she held. She was far stronger than her “mere” human father, and he knew it. That was why he couldn’t defy her.
Since her father was no longer capable of rational thought, now was the time to hear the truth. Yuria raised her voice even louder.
“Is this your true nature? A pathetic man who is incompetent yet craves power! That’s why, even when Tyrat invaded, you sent soldiers, knights, and mages to their deaths!”
Having watched her father for so many years, Yuria knew that whenever he was struck by guilt, he would raise one eyebrow. The moment she saw that familiar habit, shock crashed over her. She had hoped it wasn’t true, but it seemed Jihyeok had been right all along. Her father really had rebelled against Tyrat for the sake of his own power!
Her eyes instantly filled with tears. Thick droplets began to fall one after another.
“Father killed Mother…! Mother…!!”
Yuria’s clenched fists trembled violently. Kim Taegon spoke urgently.
“Yuria Elenar! You are currently under the devil’s whisper! Calm your head and—”
“Shut up! Shut your mouth! If only you had knelt before Tyrat, Mother could have lived! The kingdom never would have fallen! Why did you do it?! Why?!”
“……”
Kim Taegon’s face filled with fear. Riding the momentum, Yuria kept pressing him.
“Speak whatever comes to mind, just like you did with Jihyeok!”
“Cool your head. Then I will tell you.”
“Tell me right now!”
Yuria grabbed his collar and shoved him. The father she had trusted so completely had not only revealed himself to be a narrow-minded old fool, but the very culprit behind their kingdom’s destruction—just as Jihyeok had said. Rage burned like wildfire in her eyes.
She was no longer in her right mind. Blindly believing every word from Jihyeok’s mouth, she had pushed the memory of Tyrat slaughtering countless people to the far corners of her mind, directing all her fury at the father standing before her.
Even Kim Taegon’s tightly sealed lips seemed to lend credibility to Jihyeok’s claims. Unable to hold back any longer, Yuria clamped her hands around his throat with terrifying strength. His pupils rolled upward, exposing the whites of his eyes.
“Kuh… hack…! Yu…ria…”
Kim Taegon struggled to call her name. Only then did Yuria’s sanity snap back into place. She released him in a panic and stared at her own hands, alternating between them in horror.
“Ah…! I… I…! What have I just…!”
In her confusion, she didn’t even notice the faint wetness between her legs—the perverse pleasure she had derived from the violence.
“I-I’m sorry… I’m so sorry…”
Apologizing over and over in a trembling voice, Yuria ignored Kim Taegon as he collapsed to the floor coughing and wheezing. Without another word, she fled the house.
