Chapter Title: Prologue

“And with this, the achievements are finally done.”
I stretched out my stiff body and let out a massive yawn.
Still, it had all been worth it. Today, I’d finally wrapped up the game I’d been glued to for over a month: [Apocalypse Academy].
Apocalypse Academy was a real-time action RPG where the protagonist attends an academy and conquers the seven dungeons of the Evil God Tartaros to take down the final boss.
I’d always been a turn-based game guy, but this one’s surprisingly strong JRPG vibes hooked me hard, and I dove in all the way.
And today, I finally cleared the last challenge.
[The One Who Reached the Apocalypse]
[Completed all challenges in Apocalypse Academy.]
[1 player has achieved this challenge.]
Only one player achieving it meant I was the first in the world to 100% the challenges.
Of course, it was only possible thanks to some serious luck.
It was all because of that challenge everyone said was impossible: [Zero Hits Taken].
Being an action RPG, it seemed doable with blocking, dodging, and parrying—but there was an unexpected roadblock.
The extra mob that shows up during the academy raid part: Haribal Belder.
This guy’s attacks were designed to hit 100% of the time, no dodging possible.
He takes every player hit thrown at him, but his attacks always land too. Even the tiniest damage can’t be avoided.
So players raged that the achievement was impossible and trashed the devs, who’d just vaguely reply, “There’s a way.”
But no matter how much we tried every trick in the book, none of us—including me—could find a way to dodge Haribal’s attacks.
Then, in this playthrough.
Out of nowhere, a miracle bug hit: Haribal froze in place. Thanks to that, I cleared the “impossible” achievement.
An achievement that needs a bug to clear? Isn’t that kinda unfair?
But I cleared it, didn’t I?
Once the end credits rolled, I headed straight back to the main menu to quit the game. I’d devoured everything there was to eat—it was time to let it go.
Right then, a familiar [NEW GAME+] button on the main screen was glowing in a brand-new color.
An effect I’d never seen before. Drawn in like a moth to a flame, I clicked it, and a new difficulty level unlocked.
[Very Hard]
…
[Nightmare]
…
[Spacetime Mode (NEW!)]
[*Gameplay style will change significantly.]
[*Difficulty cannot be changed until cleared.]
“Changes significantly?”
I thought I’d eaten everything there was, but they hid something like this.
No wonder—no one from the devs even mentioned it. Probably unlocked by completing every achievement.
Wait, they hid it behind an achievement that’s impossible without a bug? Do they have a conscience?
‘Hold up. Does that mean I’m the only one in the world who can do this?’
I couldn’t resist.
“Let’s give it a shot.”
A secret mode no one else knows about. Just a screenshot would flip the community upside down.
With that casual thought, I checked [Spacetime Mode] and hit [NEW GAME+].
In that instant, my vision went white, and I blacked out.
When I opened my eyes again, I was inside Apocalypse Academy.
What’s more, at the very start of the game.
“…Fuck.”
