Tails Everywhere
Chu Fei had inexplicably gained this bizarre meat-devouring supernatural ability out of nowhere. Though subconsciously he didn't want to be seen as a monster, and he'd consciously tried to hide it, his lack of understanding—or rather, his poor control over it—meant he'd shown plenty of rookie habits and left a trail of loose ends behind.
For instance, he'd slimmed He Shishi down from over 120 jin straight to just over eighty in one go, and she'd blabbed about it to Zhang Lin herself.
For instance, he'd made his own mom young and gorgeous again—a change anyone with eyes could see.
For instance, he'd erased every last scar from Lin Juan's body. Outsiders might not notice, but the girls working with her knew damn well, so anyone digging a little would uncover it in a heartbeat.
And the biggest giveaway? For a measly bit of cash, he'd transformed Zhang Lin head to toe in just a week, turning her into a completely new woman.
Who was Zhang Lin? The kind of woman who'd built a fortune in the billions—was she an idiot? Hell no. So she'd tossed out two million without batting an eye. It wasn't generosity; she knew Chu Fei had some special power.
Even if that two million went down the drain in the end, reeling in a guy like that was a steal.
Li Xin was pretty much thinking the same thing. Especially after seeing Chu Fei effortlessly leave a handprint on that burly thug—she'd doubled down on her decision. That's why she'd jumped into bed with him without a second thought, even sharing with her little sister. Chu Fei wasn't normal, so she wouldn't hold him to normal standards.
Xie Qin saw it clearer and farther than any of them. That's why she'd burned a precious favor to ship Chu Fei off to Duan Lin.
Whether he actually picked up any of Duan Lin's skills or not, he'd at least carry the title of her disciple from then on. Pair that with some herbs to go with his massages, treating body and energy together, and even the most outrageous results would have a legit cover story.
Duan Lin was renowned in elite circles, after all. Her apprentice wouldn't be some slouch, right?
Put simply, Xie Qin was borrowing Duan Lin's name to mask Chu Fei's abilities.
Too bad Chu Fei hadn't gotten the memo at first. Instead of laying low after arriving, he'd clashed with her right off the bat that very day.
Duan Lin thrived in high society not because of her foul temper, but thanks to her one-of-a-kind talents.
A woman who commanded ancient wellness arts and could brew long-lost medicines—was she ordinary? No chance.
So when Chu Fei yanked down her pants, Duan Lin knew instantly: he was one of her kind.
That explained her total one-eighty in attitude toward him.
From utter disgust at first, to letting him stay in the villa, assigning him the room next to hers, swimming naked in front of him without a care, and finally letting him hold her in his arms and grope her freely.
Anyone else would've been a goner a hundred times over. But Duan Lin not only didn't blame him—she'd even hinted that morning that she wanted to marry him!
Fine, Duan Lin had lived alone for so many years; it couldn't have been easy. Sure, she wanted a man. But Chu Fei didn't buy that she was some desperate flower girl who'd marry the first guy who came along. There had to be a reason for her actions, though he hadn't figured it out yet. So he'd slipped out first to clear his head and think it through.
Only then did Chu Fei finally realize his world had changed completely from before. Going back to the old days, pretending to be ordinary again—it was a long, long road ahead. He couldn't just assume he was still some regular guy and call it done.
"I've never learned any fighting, but I want to now," Chu Fei said to Su Rui, standing in yesterday's basement. Today, though, all the security guards had the good sense to stay far away. No one wanted to get caught in the crossfire of his "sparring" with her.
"You're already so strong—who else could beat you?" Su Rui couldn't wrap her head around it. With those freaky powers of yours, what good would learning to fight do?
"That's not my skill. Not yet, anyway," Chu Fei sighed softly. "Su Rui, teach me for real. As payment, I'll give you a reward. Deal?"
"What kind of reward?"
"What do you want?" Chu Fei shot back.
"I..." Su Rui drew a blank. Money? She didn't seem to need it.
"Look, I've got people around me who need protecting. So I'm planning to poach you from Duan Lin. You'll work for me from now on."
