Training Seo Yuri into a Slave (1)
After dumping a few tasks on Assistant Manager Kim Mihui, I headed back to my desk in the Development Business Department.
Then I crept up behind Employee Seo Yuri, gave her shoulder a light tap, and said,
“Yuri! What are you doing right now?”
She must have been deep in the middle of trash-talking me with the rest of the team on KakaoTalk, because she nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Ah! You scared the hell out of me. What the fuck are you doing?”
The curse slipped out before she could stop it. Her eyes went wide with panic as she slapped a hand over her mouth.
She was terrified I’d tear into her again for swearing at me.
“Oh, I just figured you might be swamped and I had nothing better to do, so I came over to help. Why so jumpy? You act like you just committed a crime or something. Nearly gave me a heart attack myself.”
“It’s nothing, Sihyun. Crime? Please. You just snuck up without making a sound.”
She answered short and clipped, then her eyes started darting around.
Fucking bitch. I offer to help and she’s already scheming how to dump work on me.
I could practically hear the gears grinding inside her skull.
“Perfect timing, actually. Sihyun, I’ve got this English translation and document cleanup to finish. Mind giving me a hand?”
“Sure, why not.”
A little smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.
She looked thrilled at the thought of working me like a rented mule.
Still can’t read the room, can you, you stupid bitch.
“Alright then. Sihyun, you take pages ten through thirty, translate them, and bring them to me. I’ll handle one through nine. You know how these English docs work, right? The summary’s always up front, so the early pages are the hard ones. I’m taking the tough part; you’re getting the easy stretch. So even if your page count’s a little higher, you’ll understand. Got it?”
You absolute fucking bitch.
This was textbook “save a drowning man and he steals your bag.”
The whole English translation was her job to begin with, yet she was trying to dump an even bigger chunk of it onto the guy who came over to help.
And I’d already seen that source text when I helped Deputy Manager Seong Hyeon with it. The front was everyday language—dead easy. The specialized jargon only kicked in after page ten and got brutal fast.
On top of that, Seong Hyeon had already finished up through page fifteen.
This bitch is really working every angle.
Claiming the already-done pages for herself.
In short: “You do all my work that isn’t even yours. While you’re grinding yourself into dust, I’ll sit here shopping online.”
I scratched my head and played dumb.
“Nah, let’s just do it together. My English is pretty weak. But I’m a fast typist, so you translate out loud into Korean and I’ll type it up. You’re good at English, right? Free-talking with foreigners and everything.”
Free-talking my ass. More like body-language conversations with Western guys. Sex body language, that is.
Yuri flapped both hands in a flustered wave.
“N-no, really, that’s not— I mean, even if it’s rough, you should try it alone so your English improves. So this is all for your English skills, I was thinking—”
Did this bitch take a bullet to the brain?
She was suddenly babbling pure nonsense.
Why the hell would she care about improving my English?
I blocked her out, dragged my chair over from my desk, and sat right beside her.
“Alright, let’s get started, Yuri. I’m all set to type whatever you translate. New hires have to help each other out, right?”
The words “this is fucking bullshit” were written all over her face.
I pushed the English source text toward her.
“What are you waiting for? Hurry up. This has to be fully translated by end of day, doesn’t it?”
Yuri took the document and flipped open the first page.
She skimmed it with her eyes, then let out a long, heavy sigh.
“So… the investor… in the business… operations… so…”
“Excuse me? Yuri, you have to translate the whole thing into Korean. Why are you mixing English in? ‘Operations’—in this context it’s sales activities. Don’t tell me you don’t even know that?”
Her face flushed bright red with embarrassment.
“Ah, yes. I know. It just slipped my mind for a second.”
“Great. Keep going. We need to make progress. Progress.”
“People always plan… but they place that decrease on top of the budget…”
I stared at her and sighed like I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
“Seo Yuri? Does that sentence even make sense? God, what are you doing? Give me the source.”
Her expression hardened like she’d just bitten into shit.
“People always plan advertising by aligning it with the budget. Where the hell did ‘decrease’ even come from, and what happened to the words ‘advertising’ and ‘allocation’? Are you just inventing your own sentences over there? This is so frustrating. Frustrating. Yuri, I came over because you said you were swamped, and now you’re screwing around with me? Just read the English source out loud. I’ll translate it myself.”
I made sure to say it loud enough for the whole office to hear.
Yuri hung her head in shame and stared down at the document.
That’s right, you fucking bitch.
So mortified you want to crawl into a hole and die, don’t you?
The best way to break the ones who act smart and superior is to sit them down one-on-one and methodically expose how stupid they actually are.
I learned this technique from that bitch of a female professor in my department while writing my graduation thesis.
She’d deliberately bring in some hyper-specialized graduate-level source text just so she could look impressive, then pick apart every student who couldn’t translate it—right in front of the whole class.
Even now, remembering how that bitch publicly humiliated me makes my blood boil.
“Come on! Seo Yuri. Read it.”
Yuri started reading the English sentences with the clumsy pronunciation of an elementary school kid.
I listened for a moment, then pulled my hands off the keyboard, sighed, and gave her a look of pure disbelief.
She stared back at me, face full of dread.
That’s right, bitch. Be scared shitless.
You have no idea what I’m about to say.
You know I’m going to tear into you again, but you can’t predict how.
I cleared my throat, put on the most incredulous expression I could muster, and spoke.
“Seo Yuri. Can you actually speak English? How is it that you can’t pronounce a single word correctly? F and P. L and R. If you claim you can speak English, you should at least be able to tell those apart, right? God. Did you parachute into this company or what? Your grammar is garbage, you can’t even translate basic English into Korean, and you don’t know how to pronounce elementary vocabulary. Yuri, when you joined the company you listed English as your specialty, didn’t you? Aren’t you even a little embarrassed by this level? Well?”
Every single point was sharp and completely accurate.
Tears looked ready to spill from her big eyes any second.
“That’s not it. I just haven’t been using English much lately. I used to be good at it. So that’s why…”
She started sniffling out some pathetic excuse.
And that was when Team Leader Kim Ayeong finally couldn’t take it anymore and butted in.
“Hey! Who’s making all that noise in the office?!”
Oh-ho. So you’re going to interrupt me publicly dressing down Yuri.
You walked right into it, Team Leader Ayeong, you fucking bitch.
From the secret group chat earlier, it looked like they’d promised to cover for each other if one of them got chewed out. Couldn’t let these bitches form any kind of solidarity.
Any potential threat had to be snuffed out before it started.
“I know, right, Team Leader? I’m honestly speechless. Yuri asked me to help with her English translation, so I did, and she doesn’t even know the absolute basics of English. Didn’t you interview her and hire her because she was good at English?”
The moment I pointed out whether she’d even conducted a proper interview as team leader, Kim Ayeong’s face darkened fast.
“Team Leader. You’re good at English too, aren’t you? Come over here and read this section with that fluent English of yours, then translate it for us. That way Employee Seo Yuri—who claimed English was her specialty and just got caught being completely clueless—can actually learn something from her team leader! I’m stuck on this part right now anyway.”
You think I don’t know that every one of you useless, brain-dead bitches always lists English as your specialty?
Kim Ayeong shot up from her seat looking panicked, then hurried past me and Yuri while saying,
“Ah, I’ve got a team-leader meeting right now. I’ll do it later. Later.”
I tilted my head at her like something didn’t add up.
“There’s no team-leader meeting this afternoon. I checked the daily log earlier.”
Kim Ayeong, who’d been trying to escape by inventing a meeting, froze mid-step, thoroughly embarrassed.
The whole team was staring at her.
“Ah, that… maybe I mixed up the date. So, um… ah, fuck! Seo Yuri! Seo Yuri! Can’t you do a single thing right?! I hired you because you said you were good at English… this is a complete disgrace! How are you worse at English than Sihyun? Before you go home today, finish translating everything you’re working on cleanly and put it on my desk. Otherwise there is no leaving. Got it?!”
The second I tried to drag both Ayeong and Yuri under with the water-ghost strategy, Ayeong scrambled to save only herself.
Exactly the scenario I’d expected.
But I still needed to pull her under one more time.
That way they’d never again get the bright idea of helping each other.
“Yes, well, that aside, Team Leader—hurry up and sit down and show us that English skill of yours? Come to think of it, you got your graduate degree in America, didn’t you? Your pronunciation must be pure native-level. Yuri, watch the Team Leader speak English and actually learn something. Learn.”
You fucking bitch. I already checked everything when you made me stay late organizing personnel records.
That diploma was bought with cash.
Have you even set foot in America?
Ayeong’s face flushed red and purple.
“Ah… no. That’s not— Sihyun. I… I really need the bathroom right now. Ah, goddammit… haaah… Seo Yuri! Because of this fucking bitch… for no reason I…”
Ayeong was practically babbling as she jammed her feet into her high heels and fled toward the restroom.
But then—
Click!
She was walking so fast it was almost a run, and one of the heels snapped clean off.
The result was inevitable.
Thud!
Ayeong lost her balance and went sprawling across the office floor.
Not just our team—every single person from the other teams locked their eyes on her.
Hair a wild mess, both knees scraped raw, Ayeong scrambled up, covered her face, and limped toward the restroom.
“Fuck… I never should’ve gotten involved. Seo Yuri… fuck… fuck…”
Already on her period and now with a busted leg, every last scrap of Ayeong’s resentment poured straight onto Seo Yuri.
