Training Seo Yuri
There's a movie called The Experiment.
It's based on a true story that happened in America.
In the 1970s, a professor named Zimbardo recruited eighteen male college students by offering them twenty thousand won a day.
He locked them in a prison, assigning nine as guards and the remaining nine as prisoners for the experiment.
For college students who needed to scrape together tuition money back then, twenty thousand won a day was a serious sum.
The subjects lived their lives inside that prison cell just like a real prison, without even seeing sunlight. The guards became more and more immersed in their roles.
The prisoners came to identify themselves not by their names, but by numbers.
At first, everyone started with reactions like, "Well, it's just an experiment," or "This is fun."
But when the environment changes, people change.
The subjects playing guards would punish the subjects playing prisoners who didn't listen well by making them do push-ups or forcibly cutting their hair as punishment.
And the subjects playing prisoners gradually became trained into the situation of being prisoners who could do nothing.
In other words.
People are made to adapt to their environment.
That is human nature.
In the conference room, Assistant Manager Lee Miyoung and Deputy General Manager Choi Dajeong were chatting away.
Seo Yuri still hadn't finished preparing for the meeting.
But there was no employee helping her.
I deliberately raised my voice.
"Assistant Manager Seonghyeon. Have you heard the news about Deputy General Manager Lee Sua?"
"Huh? Deputy General Manager Lee Sua from the Audit Team? What about her?"
"You know Employee Juhwan from the Audit Team, right?"
"Lee Juhwan? Yeah, I know him. Are Juhwan and Deputy General Manager Lee Sua dating or something?"
"No, that's not it. I heard Deputy General Manager Lee Sua and Juhwan got into a huge fight over her taking Friday off."
"For real?"
I casually glanced around.
Seo Yuri and Choi Dajeong had stopped what they were doing and were zeroing in on my chat with Assistant Manager Seonghyeon.
These women who'd possessed bodies from the original world into this one were still short on information about this world.
Conflict between women and men inside the company couldn't help but be a fascinating topic.
"Yeah. Apparently while they were arguing, Deputy General Manager Lee Sua shoved Juhwan and cussed him out. How can a woman use violence and swear at a weak man like that?"
"Huh? Uh........."
Assistant Manager Seonghyeon, who still hadn't fully adapted to this gender-reversed world, looked completely lost.
In the original world's goddamn feminist-infested company, a female superior dumping a stream of curses on a male subordinate was an everyday occurrence.
But if a man swore at a woman?
Whether that man was a superior or a subordinate, it became gender discrimination and sexual violence, and a complaint got filed with the company.
Then, depending on the disciplinary committee's evaluation, he'd get suspended or fired.
"Of course Juhwan reported her to the disciplinary committee. In this day and age, a woman cussing out a man—does that even make sense?"
"That's true. So what happened to Deputy General Manager Lee Sua? Did she get some kind of disciplinary action?"
I deliberately dragged it out a bit.
Seo Yuri and Deputy General Manager Choi Dajeong had their ears pricked up.
"Just disciplinary action? Getting fired from the company is a given. It's already gone to criminal charges, and I hear she's about to stand trial. If Juhwan doesn't settle, she might even do prison time. That's why a woman shouldn't be dropping F-bombs and using violence on a powerless man. Violence. No matter how much Juhwan was sniping at her for taking too many days off, a woman should just put up with it. I always figured that hot-tempered Deputy General Manager Lee Sua would blow up one of these days."
"For real? That bad? She got fired from the company just for cussing and shoving someone during a fight, and now she's going to prison on top of it? Man, the world's a scary place. Seriously."
Team Leader Ayeong and Supervisor Mihui, who happened to be walking into the conference room just then, stopped dead at the entrance to listen to the conversation between me and Assistant Manager Seonghyeon.
You fucking bitches. You should finally be getting a sense of it now.
What kind of world this gender-reversed place you've possessed into really is.
I checked the clock. It was 10:10.
The meeting was supposed to start at 10, wasn't it?
"Supervisor Mihui. Let's try showing up on time, yeah? The meeting starts at 10. Ten. Should a superior who's supposed to set an example be late to a meeting? Look at Yuri over there, busting her ass preparing the meeting materials just to make the deadline."
Supervisor Mihui's eyelids twitched violently.
She was already a woman with a massive ego.
My snide tone.
It had to be hard to swallow.
But the conversation I'd just had with Assistant Manager Seonghyeon.
That was hard to ignore.
If she blew up here, it could go straight to the disciplinary committee.
Supervisor Mihui went and sat in her assigned seat without a word.
Normally she would've thrown a full-blown psychotic tantrum.
Fucking bitch.
Your mood must be absolute shit right now, huh?
But there was that thing you were always so good at.
Pouring oil on a burning house.
"Supervisor Mihui. When a person talks to you, you're supposed to answer, right? I'm not some dog or cow. Am I?"
Supervisor Mihui flushed so hard her face went deathly pale with rage.
I know exactly what you're feeling right now, you fucking bitch.
I know it very well.
Because that was the exact same shitty feeling I always got because of you.
You fucking bitch.
And I know the outcome just as well.
"I'll be more careful going forward."
Yeah.
You fucking bitch better hold it in.
Because right now, the world is on the men's side.
That's how it is.
"Ah, Team Leader?"
Team Leader Ayeong flinched and looked at me.
The truth was, Team Leader Ayeong had even more reason to feel guilty than Supervisor Mihui.
Because the team leader—the head of the team who was supposed to set an example—had been late to the meeting.
But you couldn't just keep hammering away at everything.
That was the kind of shit amateurs pulled.
"Aren't you going to start the meeting?"
"Ah, yes. Of course."
I'd looked like I was about to tear into her for being late too, but I hadn't.
Team Leader Ayeong let out a huge breath like she'd just dodged a bullet.
She'd already gotten an earful from me this morning for spitting out "fuck."
Getting hammered by a subordinate you'd always hammered yourself dealt massive psychological damage.
Team Leader Ayeong, about to start the morning meeting, noticed something was off.
"Why aren't there any meeting materials at the seats yet? And the projector screen isn't even up?"
Team Leader Ayeong fixed Seo Yuri and me with a sharp glare.
Seo Yuri avoided Team Leader Ayeong's eyes and pretended to be hard at work on the meeting materials.
"Isn't the new hire supposed to prepare for the morning meeting? What time is it already, and the meeting still isn't ready? What kind of half-assed work is this!"
Team Leader Ayeong overdid the anger even more.
Because the "new hire" who was supposed to prepare the meeting, according to her, included me as well.
She wanted to use this chance as a foothold to corner me and seize the momentum.
But.
That was only ever your thinking, you fucking bitch.
I looked at Seo Yuri with a sly, snake-like smile.
"Seo Yuri? What are you, a slug crawling around? Actually, even a slug would be faster than you. The meeting starts at 10 a.m., you know. How can you still not finish preparing the meeting materials? The team leader's pissed, look."
That fox Seo Yuri jumped in fast, like she couldn't go down alone.
"That's because I'm preparing all the team members' materials by myself. Sihyun didn't help either. And Assistant Manager Seonghyeon just messed up all the materials I'd organized and left."
Team Leader Ayeong looked at me with a triumphant expression.
"Sihyun! You made Yuri prepare the meeting materials all by herself! Isn't this negligence of duty!"
Negligence of duty?
Wrap that shit around your dick and eat it.
You idiot bitch.
You think I'd be putting on this act without even investigating that much?
"Team Leader? You're really weird today. You seem like someone who came from some strange place. Don't you think so, Assistant Manager Miyoung? You've personally instructed ever since Yuri and I joined that Yuri handles the morning meeting prep. Did you eat crow meat or something~?"
Assistant Manager Miyoung also looked like she had no idea what was going on.
"Right? As everyone knows, the morning meeting has always been handled by the female new hire. Originally, morning meeting time was when Sihyun was sleeping—no, handling outside work. The fact that he even attended this morning's meeting means he put a lot of thought into it."
At Assistant Manager Miyoung's words, Team Leader Ayeong's face turned as red as a beet.
In the world she'd originally lived in, she couldn't say that the bastard Yu Sihyun had been the one in charge of preparing the morning meetings. If she announced she was someone from another dimension, she'd get fired from the company and dragged straight to a mental hospital. To erase this humiliation, she switched her target for taking it out on.
"Seo Yuri! What have you been doing instead of preparing the meeting materials! Are you joking right now! Is the company a joke to you! Fuck. If you're going to do it like that, just quit right now! I've been too soft on you and now you look down on your superior, is that it! I'm going to time you starting now, so finish the meeting prep within five minutes. Got it!"
Wow, that fucking Team Leader Ayeong bitch. Her period critical just exploded.
Seo Yuri's expression crumpled like she'd bitten into shit.
"Yes, I'll prepare it quickly, Team Leader."
You did all the fox shit alone to get favored, and now that you've suddenly been cast out, it fucking hurts, doesn't it, you fucking bitch.
But training a person isn't done with just the whip.
That's abuse.
Not training.
I slowly stood from my seat and walked toward Seo Yuri.
"Come on, Team Leader. You're being way too harsh on Yuri. And you're really weird today. Cussing a lot too. No matter how angry you are, what's with dropping 'fuck' on a subordinate. Fuck. Am I right?"
Team Leader Ayeong's face went blank.
That fucking bitch's stunned expression.
I really want to take a photo and keep it.
"Yuri. It's okay. Cheer up, cheer up. Seriously. Your expression is so bad it's making me feel bad too."
Fuck.
Even as I say it, I want to throw up at my own hypocrisy.
That devastated expression that looked like she'd cry if you so much as poked her.
Thinking about what that fucking bitch put me through in the original world made me feel so vindicated I could die.
Well, training that fucking bitch Yuri was only just beginning.
"Yuri, you go set up the projector first. I'll organize the meeting materials. Ah, what are the rest of you doing? We're short on time, so help out."
At my words, everyone jumped up in surprise and started helping with the meeting prep.
Seo Yuri, setting up the projector, started fumbling again like she'd hit a system error.
Team Leader Ayeong, unable to watch any longer, stepped in.
"Seo Yuri! Why are you doing that again? We're dying from lack of time. Can't you even do that one thing properly!"
"Sihyun, the projector isn't coming on. I think it's broken."
You fucking bitch.
I swapped the output device and the input device, so of course the screen isn't coming on.
"Ah, Yuri. Let me take a look."
When I stepped forward, Seo Yuri looked at me with wary eyes.
Because if I fixed what she couldn't, it was obvious her score with the team leader would drop.
"Ah, Sihyun. I told you it's broken. Have you only lived being lied to? You can't even trust what people say. Let's just hold the meeting without the projector today."
Team Leader Kim Ayeong also took Seo Yuri's side, maybe feeling guilty about dumping her period stress on that fucking bitch Yuri just a moment ago.
"Ah, right. I'm sure Yuri already tried this and that. Let's just hold the meeting without the projector today. Sihyun, don't touch the projector for no reason and break it worse—just come out."
I smiled past them with leisurely ease and swapped the projector's input and output devices back.
And just like a lie, the computer screen reflected onto the screen through the projector.
"Yuri. See, it works. Just because you can't do something doesn't mean no one else can either. You said you were an admin soldier in the military. Didn't you learn even something this simple? How is it that Seo Yuri can't do a single thing? I don't even know how you got hired at this company. Even I, a man, can do this much."
Fucking bitch. You must want to crawl into a rat hole right about now, huh?
When you boldly declare something's broken and then it works like a miracle, it's fucking humiliating.
Staring at the clean screen, Seo Yuri muttered to herself.
"Haa, fuck, seriously. Nothing's going right today."
