The Second Layer Break
“Whoa…”
It’s chicken.
Not some cheap market fried chicken, but a famous brand one.
The smell alone is insane. The researchers studying chicken must have paid extra attention to every detail.
Yeongwon, who had been bullying the sky hunter, finally returned.
“Master, please eat first….”
“It’s a milestone first dinner. I know you don’t eat, but I still wanted us to share.”
“Master…!!!”
Yeongwon’s face lit up with joy. She carefully picked up a drumstick with both hands and handed it to me.
“Mmm.”
I took the drumstick and bit into it like a potato chip.
“Huuuup!!!”
Crispy skin, bursting juices, heavenly taste. My eyeballs spun around.
Seeing that flavor, I blanked out for a moment.
A pair of leg bones and wing bones. When I snapped back to reality, the dishes were already rolling around empty.
“Did I eat the whole thing?”
“Yes, Master. Was it tasty?”
“Yeah. My stomach’s full now, though….”
“You were dreaming of finishing one chicken all by yourself….”
“With this body, I guess this is the limit. If I keep pushing, it’ll grow.”
After eating, Yeongwon put the leftover chicken in the fridge.
“What? Why are you teasing this good kid?”
“I just teased it a little….”
“A little?”
“…A lot.”
“Still, it got handled fine.”
I opened the bankbook with a satisfied smile.
44 million won.
Just from selling a marble the size of a fingernail.
“Kya!”
Clap clap clap!
“Yeongwon, anything you need? Want me to buy you a luxury bag?”
“Master. The greatest gift is Master’s attention and love.”
“Really? Illuooit!!!”
For about ten minutes, I played this cute rolling-around-with-Yeongwon game.
“Nec-Eeja-ha~ climbing the tower~ my successful era has started~.”
A song just slipped out of my mouth.
I was going to fill my stomach with oil until I was stuffed and then lie in bed checking my phone.
“Oh. The sky hunter posted.”
[Title: I traded with the gang boss and came back.]
[Writer: Sky]
Gang boss, not a real gang member.
Even though I didn’t meet the gang boss directly, I felt it.
He’s a good person. So please don’t slander the gang boss.
From now on, any inappropriate remarks toward the gang boss will be seen as a challenge to me.
ㄴ추적추적자 : ???
ㄴ 김철수 : ㄷㄷ
ㄴ 당근 : If you’re trading, can you possibly share any leftover items for free? ^^
ㄴ 남궁수 : ㅁㅊ so you really did hard solo in level 1?
ㄴ 매화검수 : Sky-nim warm and cozy^^
ㄴ 암살쨩 : Tell us what your job is
ㄴ 하늘 : If the gang boss didn’t speak directly, I can’t say it first.
ㄴ 추적추적자 : Did you get blackmailed or something?
ㄴ 하늘강아지 : The sky hunter went into an old villa and hasn’t come out since
ㄴ 하늘 : I told you to stop stalking.
“Wow….”
“Impressive firepower.”
The sky hunter’s post had tons of comments.
“As expected, the popular girl.”
A smirk escaped me.
The sky hunter got an S-class class young.
Her family has been military for generations. Not just her parents, but all relatives too.
Of course she was obsessed with protecting the country.
Since 90% of the Korean army is guarding the border now.
I had only looked at her from a distance, admiring her.
But through Yeongwon’s shared vision, when I actually saw her…
It was a 20-year-old woman. Just like any ordinary girl my age.
“Teasing such a nice kid?!”
Brrrrrrrr!!
“Kkiyaaat!!!”
I got revenge on the sky hunter with the bathroom bowl.
I didn’t meet her directly, but I made a promise after facing her.
“If I step in, many people won’t have to risk their lives fighting.”
The 38th Parallel. Also called the Northern Front now.
North Korean residents had no energy left to climb the tower due to hunger.
North Korean soldiers had no talent to climb it.
In gates that weren’t cleared, monsters appeared.
Since they couldn’t climb the tower, they lacked firepower to deal with monsters from the gates.
A club from the tower was stronger than modern weapons.
“Oh right, the club.”
I pulled the goblin general’s club from my inventory.
“Yeongwon, give this to the smartest skull.”
“Yes!!!”
The fight on the first floor of the tower. The skull fought bare-handed.
But now it’s different. One club skull.
The rest of the skulls would grab monsters and hang on, while the club skull smashed pots.
My firepower grew even stronger.
Slowly but surely, I’ll be able to handle the Northern Front alone.
Hmm. Nice. My grandfather said he wanted me to do the national work.
I closed the community and installed the online shopping app, Cooper app.
“If you order today, it arrives tomorrow, right?”
I wanted to try rocket delivery too.
I bought a computer and the latest smartphone.
“Shek!!!”
Next, I searched for clothes.
I didn’t want to wear clothes that looked like young girls, so I bought unisex ones.
That was a long, fun shopping spree.
* * *
“Ready, Yeong?”
“Of course, ja.”
The day to challenge the second floor finally arrived.
Every time I felt full, I summoned more skulls. Three added, making eight total.
“I’ll be back soon.”
“Take your time and come back safely.”
No tension.
I had gotten the info from the sky hunter for the second floor.
Shuuwook.
Entering the second floor as told. A huge orc.
“That axe looks tempting.”
“Krrru…”
Tzzzezzzz! Dalgrak dalgrak…
Yeongwon no longer needed to speak. She opened the portal and sent the skulls herself.
Right into the second floor fight.
The orc warrior raised its axe.
Whoosh!
The wind blew.
The two skulls that ran in front got obliterated.
Bone shards rolled across the white floor.
“Eh? Fuck, it’s so strong?”
But the skulls didn’t stop.
They didn’t flinch at a comrade getting blown apart.
They never had the emotion of fear to begin with.
Three charged head-on.
The orc swung the axe again.
Kkwajik!
One skull was obliterated again. The axe chopped from the shoulder all the way through the ribs and spine.
Meanwhile, the other two hung onto the orc’s arms.
One hugged the elbow, the other grabbed the wrist.
“Kraaak!”
The orc swung its arm wide.
The hanging skulls swayed but didn’t fall.
The arm holding the axe slowed down.
The skulls waiting for that gap moved.
One grabbed the ankle.
One climbed up by grabbing the thigh.
One more hung on the orc’s back and bit its neck.
It looked like ants watching a giant meal.
The orc was strong.
It could have kicked one skull to pieces or swung its arm to throw it away.
But when it lost one, two more came.
When it smashed two, three filled the spot.
“Krruek…”
The orc’s knee slowly bent.
Kung!
Finally, the giant body fell to the floor.
Over it, the skulls piled up white.
Dalgrak. Dalgrak.
The last skull to arrive lifted the goblin general’s club.
“Mongol.”
I pointed at the orc’s head.
“Fuck yeah.”
Kkwajik!
The club came down and smashed it.
Kkwajik! Kkwajik! Kkwajik!
Even after the orc stopped moving, the skulls kept swinging the club as commanded.
“Stop.”
Dalgrak.
Only then did the skulls stop moving.
[Challenge successful!]
[Rewards distributed.]
[Individual success special reward distributed.]
Five healthy skulls.
“I won, but the loss was huge.”
Shuuwook.
“Okaeri!”
Yeongwon welcomed me back.
“Yeongwon, what do I do? Three skulls got obliterated.”
“Yes….”
Skulls that died in the challenger’s tower disappeared on the spot.
I thought they’d come back to life when I returned to Necropolis, but…
“Ha, then I’ll have to enter the third floor with eight. The one stronger than the orc warrior will come, right?”
The orc warrior was strong. With the same specs as the second floor, could it reach the third?
Anxiety crept in.
“Master, the difficulty on the second floor jumped sharply. Maybe we can expect a good reward?”
“Ah?”
I immediately opened the inventory.
[Inventory]
Orc warrior’s marble (A)
Skill book (C)
The axe I was eyeing wasn’t dropped.
But the skill book? Pull it out now!
“Yeongwon. I got a skill book. It’s C-rank.”
“Hmm… C-rank?”
“Yeah. It’ll be expensive to sell…?”
Desire filled my eyes.
“Master….”
Yeongwon’s worried voice.
“But honestly, even if I only sell the marble, I can eat chicken every day, right?”
“That’s right!”
“I’m using it right away!!!”
I used the skill book and opened the status window.
[Name: Lee Jiha]
[Class: Necromancer (S)]
[Level: 21]
[HP: 10]
[MP: 190]
[Strength: 1]
[Agility: 2]
[Bonus Points: 6]
[Skills: Summon Skeleton / Necropolis / Skeleton Warrior (C)]
“I got a skill called Skeleton Warrior….”
“Skill books come in different types, and this one seems like a random skill grant.”
I dumped the bonus points into MP.
MP became 250. Enough to summon five skulls.
But I didn’t summon any skulls. I needed to check the new skill first.
[Skill: Skeleton Warrior (C)]
Arms one skeleton soldier.
Required MP: 50
“Hah, it needs another 50 MP?”
“So summoning one skeleton soldier and arming it would take 100 MP, right?”
“Exactly. Mongol!”
I called Mongol. Mongol is short for club skull.
“Skeleton Warrior.”
I used the skill. A message popped up.
[Please choose equipment to equip.]
“Equipment to equip…?”
I got lost in thought. Five skulls total. With 250 MP, I could arm all of them.
The fight with the orc warrior came to mind.
Skulls that got obliterated by one axe blow.
My decision was quick.
“Shield.”
Shuaaaaa…
Tuk.
Mongol dropped the club. In its hand was a thick shield made of bones.
“The rest of you come too.”
The remaining four skulls got a shield and three spears.
So two shield skulls and three spear skulls were complete.
“Oh…”
Two skulls holding large bone shields.
Three skulls holding sharp bone spears.
“It feels like an army…?”
Clap clap clap!
Because the skill level was low, I couldn’t choose swords and shields.
I put the club back in the inventory.
“When it’s time to enter the third floor… I’ll add one shield skull and go with Shield3, Spear3, Mongol1 formation.”
MP recovered every week is about 150. I summoned two skulls, used Skeleton Warrior on one, and planned to give the club to the last one.
“It’s perfect, Master!”
“Hmm hmm.”
I felt like there were a bit too many shield skulls, but safety first.
The anxiety was gone now.
The fear of the third floor turned into anticipation.
