Blunder Turns to Breakthrough
The live commentary team fumbling through the Jordan match suddenly lost their shit.
— Uh… uh? Mo Chanhee, is the ball's trajectory kinda weird?
— That instinct to pinpoint the landing spot! No wonder—his brain's wired different from regular players. Even in that chaos, he's factoring in the spin!
But their praise rang hollow as Mo Chanhee just faked a header, then slyly ducked low. The Jordan defender charging from behind didn't miss a beat, gritting his teeth and leaping up.
Thwack!
The Jordan guy cleanly headed the ball away. But the real problem came next. As he twisted mid-air to land, Mo Chanhee was right there underfoot, awkwardly frozen after dodging the ball.
With no safe landing spot, the Jordan defender snagged on Mo Chanhee's back and face-planted ass-over-head into the turf.
The ref blew his whistle mercilessly and sprinted over.
— Ah…! Ref's whistle. Foul called.
— Mo Chanhee had staked out prime position to win the ball, but the Jordan defender overcommitted, lost balance… Wait, what's the call…?
The ref pointed firmly at Mo Chanhee and signaled a free kick for Jordan. Dangerous play—disrupting the opponent's landing zone without jumping in an aerial duel.
Mo Chanhee spread his arms wide in protest, whining to the ref that the ball's weird flight left him no choice. His pathetic excuse carried even from afar.
I pinched my forehead watching that crap.
Afraid of the challenge, hating the backlash, so he flails with some bullshit ball trajectory excuse, kills the momentum anyway. That was the real deal on Korea's poster boy, the guy with Real Madrid transfer rumors. 30th minute of the first half. Our foul deep in dangerous territory.
Jordan fans roared as Al Tamari set up the free kick. Whistle blew, and the ball arced sharply over the wall off his toe. I could tell at a glance.
That's a good one.
The keeper leaped as the shot screamed toward goal. It grazed his fingertips, deflected straight into the box. Before the Jordan forward could stretch, I dove in and claimed it. Winning the second ball, I whipped my right foot forward without pause.
The ball magnetized to Bong Hyeoksu's feet, and our counter gear shifted to overdrive in a flash.
— Crisis averted—straight to counter! Keeper's super save keeps us alive! Bong Hyeoksu's got it. Time to build!
The ball went sideways to Mo Chanhee again.
"Chanhee, hit it now!"
Ignoring Bong Hyeoksu's shout, Mo Chanhee's chronic disease flared up. Facing one defender, he rolled the ball under his sole on the spot, pulling flashy steps. Zero clue when to slow the tempo or speed it up—just pointless showboating to shine solo.
— Oh, Mo Chanhee! Tech time again? Look at that composure. Pure class!
Defender backed off, so Mo Chanhee pulled it back again. Gave the entire Jordan defense time to recover. Bong Hyeoksu's pass came to me.
I took it and drove forward like Maradona on a dime.
"Here! Pass it here!"
Mo Chanhee flailed from the flank again, begging for it. But my read was already locked: Tak Go-gang busting his ass on the right, Gwon Dojin holding three defenders in the middle. That side was right.
I feinted deeper, dragging the Jordan defense's weight one way, then stabbed a dagger pass to Tak Go-gang on the wing.
— Ryu Rion carving the path! Tak Go-gang's in!
Tak Go-gang settled it clean, shrugged off the interference, and shoveled it back to me. Perfect one-two. Jordan's backline ripped open, vast space ahead.
— Insane! Ryu Rion and Tak Go-gang's 2-on-1! Jordan defense melted! Ryu Rion—chance!
No hesitation. I set for the shot. The ball's weight on my laces felt heavy. Full power—boom! Buried bottom left corner before the keeper could react.
Kwang—!
— GOAL!!! It's in!!! Ryu Rion finishes it himself! South Korea silences Amman!
— Did you see that? Essence of modern soccer! Ryu Rion chose efficiency over flash—crumbled Jordan!
The net rippled as Jordan's home roar turned dead silent in a blink.
"Nice!"
Tak Go-gang slapped my shoulder; Gwon Dojin jumped on my back roaring. Real sweat, real heat from guys who earned that space. Commentators lost it, calling it Korea soccer's new paradigm. 37th minute.
Jordan ramped up the savagery, sandstorm at their backs, no collision too dirty to chase the equalizer.
— 37th minute. Jordan press is ferocious! Hard to play out centrally.
— They're full high press. One slip, and it's deadly.
Bong Hyeoksu snapped the tension. Read their forward pass trajectory, stretched those long legs, snatched it.
"Go-gang!"
Ball flew to Tak Go-gang on the flank; I was already sprinting into the space behind.
— Oh! Bong Hyeoksu intercept! To Tak Go-gang! Ryu Rion's through! He's flying!
— Counter! Ryu Rion splits the line!
But Jordan anticipated the timing, muscled in rough, stole it. Stadium surged with flipped momentum.
— Blocked! Jordan counter! Al Tamari's off—danger!
— Tak Go-gang! Chase him, delay!
Tak Go-gang, forward in attack, went beast-mode recovery to block Al Tamari. Not a full stop, but bought time for our defense. Frantic Jordan stabbed a reckless pass central. Thanks to Go-gang, I sprang from near the box like a coil.
Jordan midfielder touched and turned—I was already behind, shoulder-charging.
Thud!
"Give it up, asshole."
He yanked my jersey in panic, but I held base and cleared it out of play. Needed a breather.
— Whoa! Ryu Rion—down there already? Box-to-box after scoring, 40 meters backpedal defense!
— That's Ryu Rion's true value. Textbook box-to-box. Finisher in attack, firefighter in defense! Unreal work rate!
I wiped sweat, reset. 1-0 lead. A bit of breathing room—Mo Chanhee finally carried himself.
— Mo Chanhee now. Ball central.
— Lead loosens him up? Between two defenders…!
Mo Chanhee struck with his signature rhythm. No pointless flair this time. Faked left lean, burst right—clean feint tangled two Jordan defenders tumbling.
— Oh! Mo Chanhee fools two! Wide open!
— Class! Space! Shooting?
Straight to arc top, unleashed a rocket right foot. Laces perfect—clothesline straight.
Kwang—!
Jordan keeper animal-reflex dive punched it away. Extra goal chance gone.
— Saved! Jordan keeper bailing them out again!
— Mo Chanhee, that was gold. No goal, but that threat shrinks their defense!
Mo Chanhee clutched his head, eyed the scoreboard. Watching him, I thought: Guy's got skill. Issue is, does he use it for the team or himself? Himself—so useless in an 11-man game.
