Chapter 299: Beach(3)
"Ugh, those two, seriously."
Seo Ye-rin and Yoo Ah-rin finally peeled themselves off me.
The two of them were splashing around in the ocean, laughing brightly. Seeing them like that, they looked like a couple of preschoolers at play—it was a cheerful sight.
Choi I-seo tapped me on the shoulder as I stood there staring at them.
"Let's go over there. There are lots of fish gathered near the rocks."
Since we’d agreed to go snorkeling together, I followed behind her, swimming along.
Once I submerged, the transparency of the ocean felt even more detailed. There was a reason people raved about Hawaii. Seeing the blue spectacle I’d only ever seen in movies or on TV unfold right before my eyes, I couldn't help but feel excited.
I pulled on my snorkeling goggles and dove deep.
My feet couldn't touch the bottom, but I wanted to go even deeper.
Wow, this is insane.
I felt like I finally understood why people got so obsessed with snorkeling. Even in relatively shallow waters, you could see so many varieties of beautiful fish like this. It felt like I’d stepped into a billionaire’s meticulously maintained aquarium.
I was starting to run out of breath, so I began to head back up. I saw Choi I-seo still floating on the surface, face down, peering at the world below.
She waved her hand at me.
Hmm.
So that’s what it looks like from below.
Seriously, I’m so pissed.
Shouldn't that be legally prohibited? It turned my clean, pure mind into a ball of desire in an instant.
"Phew!"
As I broke the surface and caught my breath, Choi I-seo lifted her head.
"You're a good swimmer."
"I learned when I was a kid. My parents said swimming was for survival."
My big brother and middle brother had both gone through it, so I spent a lot of time at the pool when I was young. Since I learned it as a form of education rather than just for play, swimming was one of the few things I was quite confident in.
"You're good too."
"In high school, I used to go to the pool often during the summer. You know, those places run by the city."
"Ah."
"The entrance fee there is still only 3,000 won."
So it was the kind of place people went to actually exercise, not just to play in the water. That suited Choi I-seo.
"Should we try scuba diving later? Since we're all the way here, shouldn't we try something like that at least once?"
I hadn't been particularly interested before, but experiencing this made me curious. At my words, Choi I-seo’s eyes sparkled.
"Really? I’ve always wanted to try that!"
I didn't expect her to be this happy about it.
"Today might be tough, so let's go tomorrow. If we book it now, we should be able to do it soon."
"Wow... I’m really looking forward to it."
"I have to live up to the title of being a rich boyfriend."
I gave her a thumbs-up, and Choi I-seo gave me a 'you're hopeless' kind of smile before putting her goggles back on.
As she continued snorkeling, I dove deep again and looked up from below.
After repeating that a few times, I came up for air, and Choi I-seo approached me.
"Why do I feel like you keep staring at me?"
Caught.
"...I'm not."
I turned my head away as I answered, but Choi I-seo grabbed my cheek and pulled my face back toward her.
"Look at the fish. And the ocean. Do you really want to be like this after coming all this way?"
"But! I feel like you're never going to wear that again after today!"
"..."
I must have hit the nail on the head because Choi I-seo went silent. No matter how you looked at it, she wasn't the type to wear a swimsuit like that twice. That’s why I felt like I’d regret it if I didn't keep looking today.
"Sigh, fine, just stop staring. I’m already embarrassed enough as it is."
"Then can I take some pictures later? I brought my camera, and I want to take photos of you."
Splash!
Choi I-seo splashed water right at me and swam away as if she were escaping.
"Look at this! Look!"
I was about to follow her when I heard Yoo Ah-rin’s boisterous voice. I don't know where she got it, but she was standing on top of a surfboard.
She was actually quite good at keeping her balance. Watching her wobble as she stood up looked like she was doing some kind of weird dance, which was hilarious.
Seo Ye-rin was standing in front of her, clapping and laughing.
"Ah-rin! You look like you're doing a strip dance like that!"
I was thinking the exact same thing.
The way she was wiggling her hips to keep her balance while wearing a bikini gave off exactly that vibe.
"You little bitch?!"
Yoo Ah-rin immediately jumped off and launched a flying dropkick. Her form was clean—she didn't do Taekwondo for nothing.
"Gyah?!"
A pillar of water shot up.
Seo Ye-rin, who had been submerged, scrambled back up and shouted furiously.
"Ack! I swallowed water! You idiot! You're not my friend anymore!"
"Who tells their friend they're doing a strip show?!"
Why did those two get so childish the moment they hit the beach? Or wait, were they always this childish?
Their bickering was getting louder, and people around us were starting to stare, so I raised my hand and called out to them.
"Hey! I'm going to get something to drink. Anyone coming?"
"Me! Me!"
"Ugh, I'm exhausted. I'll come too."
Choi I-seo was still diving. She seemed completely captivated by the underwater scenery, so I decided to leave her be.
As we walked out onto the sandy beach, my eyes momentarily locked onto the two of them, drenched in seawater.
In Seo Ye-rin’s case, she was covered up, but because of her undeniable chest, her rash guard looked like it was about to burst. On the other hand, Yoo Ah-rin’s sleek, athletic body looked impressive all wet.
I felt like I was going to get 'angry' again, but I managed to hold it back.
"Let's dry off with towels first."
"Haha! I'm wearing a rash guard, so I don't need to dry off!"
"There are towels at our spot."
We had the paid sunbeds and parasols we’d rented earlier. Usually, those places watched your luggage too, but when I got there, what do you know?
Those women from earlier were sitting in our seats like they owned the place. There were even a few hulking guys with them.
"Hmm, should we just give up on those?"
When I made the suggestion with a smile, Yoo Ah-rin frowned deeply and stepped forward.
"What kind of bullshit is that? Hey!"
Ah-rin immediately started shouting something. As expected, it pays to be good at fighting.
But I wonder if she can take on those huge guys.
They looked like total gym rats. And not just regular ones—they looked so massive they might be on steroids.
"Wow, Woo-jin. I didn't know Ah-rin was so good at English."
"Me neither. I didn't know she was that fluent. She usually seems so uneducated."
"You bastard! I can hear you!"
Her ears are as sharp as ever.
"More importantly, they don't understand what she's saying."
She wasn't even being fluent. Just as Ah-rin said, those guys were saying something back, claiming they couldn't understand her.
"Hmm? Aren't they insulting us right now?"
That was when Seo Ye-rin glared at them suspiciously, as if she’d caught a specific word. One of the men turned red and looked away in embarrassment.
"Wow, as expected of Seo Ye-rin. You can seduce a foreign guy with just a glance. Your face really is a national treasure."
"Ehehe, stop it."
"Only her face. Her inside is like a middle schooler going through puberty."
"And your body is like a middle schooler's!"
"You son of a...!"
Suddenly, Seo Ye-rin and Yoo Ah-rin started fighting each other, which actually made the foreigners look confused. Well, if I were them and a foreigner suddenly came up, spoke some awkward Korean, and then started fighting amongst themselves, I’d be bewildered too.
"Excuse me. Um, so. How do I say this? Get lost. Go away. You fucker."
The 'fucker' just came out automatically. The way they were looking at me was strangely unpleasant.
But then these guys started acting like they still didn't understand and told me to say it again.
Hmm, is this racism?
I’d heard somewhere that people sometimes pretend not to understand just to make you keep talking.
Nah, probably not.
I pulled my phone out of our luggage next to the sunbed and opened a translator app.
"Please leave. This is our spot."
The translator spat out a string of English. Seeing the machine do everything for me, I wondered why I even bothered being an English major.
Then, the other side used a translator to speak to us. But the language that came out of their translator was Chinese.
Now I was sure. These guys were intentionally trying to pick a fight.
"You moron, I'm Korean."
When the translator translated that back, the other side flinched slightly.
"Leave, or I'm calling the police."
I was actually about to call the police when Yoo Ah-rin strode past me toward them. Then, she snatched their phones, which had been hidden between the towels.
"These guys are filming? Are they Neutubers?"
"Ah, so that’s why they came up to me with that weird excuse earlier."
I knew there were quite a few Neutubers abroad who did hidden camera pranks and things like that.
"Hey! Give me that, bitch!"
"Bitch? Did that guy just call me a bitch?"
"No, you idiot. He said 'beach.' Like, the beach we're on."
"Ah."
Is Seo Ye-rin doing that on purpose? To prevent a fight from breaking out? If not, this is getting serious.
Ah-rin nodded as if she accepted the explanation, then wound her arm back like a pitcher and hurled the phone into the ocean.
Splash!
"Who's a bitch, you bastards? I've only ever been with one guy!"
"What the—!?"
The guys were shocked to see their phone being swept away by the waves and started making a huge fuss. I thought they were finally getting up to leave, but one of the muscular men approached Yoo Ah-rin and swung his fist.
Thwack!
I stepped forward and took the hit for her.
"Hey!"
"Woo-jin!"
Given his size and muscles, I thought I might be sent flying, but...
"Are you on drugs? You have total pillow fists."
As I muttered that after being hit, the phone translator translated it on its own.
"...!"
The man spat out a string of profanities and tried to hit me again.
But then, a woman stepped in between me and the man. I naturally thought it would be Yoo Ah-rin, but it wasn't.
It was Senior Ju-hee, wearing a black hat and black sunglasses, standing there having caught the guy's fist in her hand.
"Captain Ju!"
I called out to her, sounding like I was about to cry, and she let out a sigh.
"See? I told you it could be dangerous."
She pushed the man's fist away and gave them a chilling look. I quickly offered them one last bit of mercy.
"Apologize now! Or you guys are really going to die!"
"..."
Ju-hee looked at me like I was being ridiculous, but honestly, wasn't I right? She had a history of winning a 1v1 against President Hwang, who was armed.
"He's not someone a steroid-using pillow-fist can beat!"
It’s only natural to feel sympathy for someone who's too weak, right?
"I heard using steroids makes it hard to get an erection. I wonder if it's true."
"How should I know? Ask him yourself."
With Senior Ju-hee’s appearance, Seo Ye-rin and Yoo Ah-rin were already relaxed and chatting amongst themselves. Regardless, despite my merciful warning, those guys didn't come to their senses and lunged at Senior Ju-hee again.
WHAM!
As her fist buried itself into the man's solar plexus, he curled up and collapsed onto the sand.
"Yamchaaaaa!"
It’s a good thing Seo Ye-rin is pretty.
