Chapter 221: IRL Fight Incident
The other kids had all headed home, leaving only Seo Ye-rin.
I was currently facing off against her mother right in front of their house.
“....”
“....”
I saw her often at the shop, but meeting her like this in a different setting felt fresh in many ways.
Should I offer a simple greeting?
If so, what should I say?
It’s been a while?
How have you been?
Did you like the item I recommended last time?
While various greetings were mulling around in my mouth, her mother pointed to Seo Ye-rin, who was slumped over my back.
“How much did she drink?”
“Quite a bit, it seems. She was already passed out by the time I arrived.”
I recited the lines we had agreed upon. Of course, Seo Ye-rin wasn’t actually asleep; she was wide awake.
She had just said she didn’t want to get in trouble with her mom and asked me to play along while she pretended to sleep.
At my words, the corners of her mother’s eyes trembled slightly.
“Weren’t you with Ye-rin? I contacted you because I thought you were.”
“No, ma’am. I was at my parents' house and rushed over. From what I saw, there’s no need to worry—she was drinking with some other girls.”
“Phew.”
Her mother let out a deep sigh of relief, clutching her chest as if a great weight had been lifted.
It had been too dark to notice before, but now I could see she looked quite exhausted; wrinkles I hadn't noticed were etched into her face.
“How should we wake her up?”
Ye-rin pinched me from behind, but I couldn't exactly hand her over to her mother right here and tell her to take her.
Her mother pondered for a moment, let out a small sigh, and made a polite request.
“If it’s not too much trouble, could you lay Ye-rin down on her bed? Her father is already asleep.”
“Understood.”
I knew from my last visit that Ye-rin’s room was on the second floor.
I passed through the interior, which wasn't particularly tidy, and entered her room.
The room itself wasn't exactly clean, but for some reason, it smelled strangely good. Maybe it was just my imagination.
Her mother began tidying up the living room like a fox lured by grapes, and I laid Seo Ye-rin down on the bed.
“Pfft.”
As soon as she hit the mattress, she peeked her eyes open and laughed, her breath smelling of alcohol.
“Kiss me.”
“You want me to call your mom in here?”
“Kiiiiss me.”
“Sigh.”
I glanced toward the door to check on her mother and quickly pressed my lips to hers. It was brief, but she grinned foolishly, looking satisfied with even that much.
If her mother hadn't been here, I probably would have pounced on her right then and there.
Actually, maybe not.
Considering my lower half was still throbbing, today might have been impossible anyway.
“Should we just lock the door and go for it?”
Ye-rin made a reckless suggestion.
“Forget it. Just get ready to get chewed out by your mom tomorrow.”
“Don’t worry. I’m gonna do whatever I want, no matter what Mom says.”
“...I’m telling you this so you don't do that.”
“Then one more kiss.”
Honestly, this girl.
Smooch.
“Hehe, I’m gonna do whatever I want.”
She just wanted another kiss, didn't she?
“Listen to your mother.”
“Look who’s talking.”
“....”
I had no comeback for that.
I gave her breast a firm squeeze as a goodnight gesture and stood up. Ye-rin hugged her own chest tightly with both hands, looking pleased.
When I walked back out, her mother gave me a strangely suspicious look, but she didn't say anything as she turned off the lights and followed me outside.
“Woo-jin.”
As we were heading down the stairs, her mother called my name. I stopped on the steps and looked up at her. She crossed her arms, hesitated for a moment, and then spoke.
“Those other two people you mentioned last time... the ones you said you had to take responsibility for... were they the girls Ye-rin was drinking with today?”
She was sharp as a tack.
“Yes, they were.”
Since there was no point in lying anymore, I answered honestly.
Her mother’s expression grew complicated. She hesitated again before gesturing for me to head down.
Back in front of the house.
It looked like she had something more to say, so I waited. Eventually, she lowered her head.
“Thank you for today. I was worried Ye-rin might end up staying out all night.”
“I’m glad I could help.”
“I’ll scold Ye-rin tomorrow. And as I said before, I’d prefer it if you didn't stay too close to her.”
“....”
“I know. It’s very rude of me to say this after you helped us today. But... please understand that as a mother, there are things that are hard for me to accept.”
“I understand, of course.”
What parent would want to marry their daughter off to a man who says he loves three women?
“Even if she’s a college student, she’s only a sophomore. She’s still young, so she’ll eventually look back and realize this was just a choice made out of youthful passion.”
“That’s possible. I won’t deny it.”
Even today, things could have gone wrong, and the girls could have left me.
I didn't completely rule out the possibility myself.
“But ma’am, I’ve also heard that this is the period when a person matures the most.”
“....”
“Please trust Ye-rin and watch over her a little longer. If you do, you might be surprised to see how much she’s grown.”
Seo Ye-rin had already broken out of her shell.
The Seo Ye-rin I became close with in the second semester of freshman year was completely different from the Seo Ye-rin of today.
Trying to push her back into that shell would only be suffocating for her.
“I’m not just talking about her relationship with me. I mean in many different aspects.”
“....”
After saying that, I gave a polite bow and turned away.
I could still feel her mother’s gaze on my back.
But it didn't feel like she was just glaring at me.
* * *
I grinned at the bicycle I had finally recovered. I wanted to take a picture and brag, but I held back since that would make it too easy to identify me.
In the end, I couldn't resist and posted a photo of just the wheels. A few comments popped up immediately, recognizing that they were expensive wheels.
My shoulders shook with satisfaction.
I guess this is why people need to spend money.
Now that I knew how convenient it was to ride a bike to every lecture, I had become a man who couldn't live without one.
“Whoa.”
I was just browsing the Bamboo Forest, but this looked like it might escalate.
I knew Anonymous 7 was someone who posted questions occasionally, and it seemed Anonymous 407 had really stepped in it this time.
The Bamboo Forest suddenly flared up with activity.
“Wow, this is insane.”
From the looks of it, Anonymous 7 seemed really confident.
I quickly posted a comment as well.
Hmm.
Vibrate, vibrate, vibrate!
A call came in from Yoo Ah-rin, but I ignored it.
I had no idea what kind of insults I’d hear if I picked up.
Anyway.
The first IRL fight incident in the history of the Bamboo Forest was starting to grow into something much bigger than expected.
