Stocking the Warehouse Generously - 4
"Okay, okay! Don't get too excited! Buckle your seatbelts tight!"
After breaking through the trial, I'd successfully gotten my hands on a car. But the real trouble was just starting now.
"A-am I really in a car? Fuck, I never dreamed something like this would happen in my whole damn life..."
Han Seohee stared at every inch of the car seats, her face flushed with emotion.
"N-no matter what happens, I'll protect you!"
An Sua's body was angled toward me, but she couldn't help gawking at the shiny dashboard lights either.
"I get it, so just buckle your seatbelts!"
"How do you do it?"
I let out a deep sigh.
"Right... you wouldn't know. That's fair."
The car I was driving was a pristine new model, still smelling fresh from the seats. But this world was basically an apocalypse at its core.
"You've never ridden in a car before, have you?"
"Obviously not. You never know what'll pop up in a trial, and buying one outright is stupid expensive. Even if you did buy one, it doesn't change shit."
"Yeah... I guess that's true."
I was the guy who'd basically demolished a dungeon to scrape together that cash. I'd shared some with the other survivors, sure.
Ha, I should've looted properly back then...
In the end, I'd killed them all with my own hands, so I could've recovered whatever money they had. There were some decent guns among them, even a survivor with a sword—different style from what I pictured, but still.
But back then, after killing them, the idea of rifling through their stuff hadn't even crossed my mind. Heea was dying right in front of me.
After everything settled, I'd gone back just in case, but whether someone else had looted it or the zombie wave swept it away, most of the gear and cash was gone.
Still, I had plenty left. Buying the apartment next door had taken a chunk, but most of what I'd saved remained.
"No money, huh."
"Even if you could afford a car like this, there's nowhere to drive it. Only big organization bosses or their women get to ride in something like this."
"Hmm..."
In the end, none of them had ever been in a car. They didn't know how to buckle a seatbelt or even how to act once they were inside.
"It's been forever since I drove, okay? Try not to mess with me if you can help it. Got it?"
"Yeah, yeah, we got it. So how do you buckle this damn thing?"
"Just sit still."
I got out of the driver's seat and buckled Han Seohee's seatbelt for her in the back.
Those tits...
The black belt crossed her body diagonally, lightly binding her chest.
"Ah, so if it's buckled like this, I can't move and have to take whatever you do to me?"
"Want me to do it right now?"
"Th-that's— nghhh!"
I playfully squeezed her breasts hard, then slipped back to the front seat before she could recover.
"Me too, do mine too!"
"You do it yourself next time. Got it?"
"Yes!"
I buckled An Sua's seatbelt in the passenger seat. My eyes kept flicking to her lower belly, legs, and chest, but I somehow mustered the willpower to hold back.
"Wh-what about me... aren't you gonna do mine?"
"Hm?"
Seeing the eager look on An Sua's face, I couldn't just ignore her.
"Haaaang..."
I gave her breasts a light squeeze too, then sat back in the driver's seat and steeled myself.
"Whew..."
I'd gotten my license. Right after high school graduation, I'd gone to a driving academy. That was it.
From the moment I passed, I'd never driven once.
"Doesn't being strapped down like this make it hard to react quickly? Doesn't seem like any of you could unbuckle it without me anyway."
"Hit that red button and it releases. Worry more about my driving than zombie attacks."
I took a deep breath and slowly pressed the accelerator.
"Huh?"
The car didn't move forward. I worried for a solid 30 seconds that this status window-guaranteed car had some defect, but then I figured it out.
"Oh, brake. My bad."
Once I hit the right pedal, the car smoothly rolled forward.
"I-it's really moving! For real!"
"This is insane. The buildings outside are just sliding by on their own!"
My girls chattered excitedly, but I had to hold my breath and focus on driving.
As slow as possible. Crashing would be a disaster...
Even on clean, intact asphalt, I poured every ounce of concentration into staying in my lane. If I'd driven more after getting my license, maybe I'd have gotten the hang of it. But my knowledge was frozen at that exam pass.
And even that wasn't fully coming back to me. Even if it did, stable driving here wasn't guaranteed. Zombies roamed the roads, and crashing into one wouldn't get me compensation.
"Good..."
The car inched forward. I sighed in relief.
Straight, left turn, right turn. My driving was clumsy and the roads were bumpy as hell, but somehow I managed.
"Is this thing supposed to be this slow?"
"I'm not sure. The cars other people drove seemed way faster..."
Of course, the speed wasn't impressive. Maybe 10 to 30 km/h at best.
"Fine. We've confirmed the car works. Now we just need to grab supplies."
"We ride this around from now on?"
"Nah, that'd be tough."
After getting the car, I'd bought other necessities at that point: engine oil, gasoline. That's when it really hit me.
This ain't something to take lightly...
Getting the car was one thing, but maintenance costs were gonna be brutal.
"This is for transport. Driving it everywhere would be risky... better stick to hauling stuff."
"Kinda disappointing."
"Well, someday maybe we could take a drive... who knows?"
I imagined piling my girls into the car for a drive. Racing to the beach for a swim, crashing at a nearby motel to enjoy their bodies, then heading back.
Someday, after clearing all the zombies around here. Or maybe all of Korea's zombies. Then I could afford luxuries like that.
"I see. So we're heading back today then?"
The sun was starting to set.
"Yeah, rest up today and tomorrow..."
It was a clumsily acquired car, but it'd be useful going forward. Even if the cargo space was just the trunk and back seats, it beat dragging carriers alone.
"Let's scout some intel first?"
The orphanage seemed short on supplies, so using ours once should be fine.
The humming engine filled the empty city. The day was ending.
"I'm hungry..."
Orphanage director Seon Yeowon sighed deeply at the whining child.
"Sorry, hang in there a bit longer, okay?"
They weren't totally out of food. There were still cereals stashed in the pantry for the absolute last resort.
But she couldn't break into those just because a kid was hungry.
The older kids grumbled, gripping their weapons.
"Sitting around like this is just gonna get us all killed, right?"
"Director, if we're gonna starve anyway, let us do something—"
Worry lines deepened around Yeowon's eyes.
"Outside is dangerous. And even if you go scavenging, no guarantee you'll find food."
"Does sitting here guarantee food rolls in?"
"Just a little longer. We've made it this far, haven't we?"
As orphanage director, her top priority wasn't playing with the kids or raising them—it was more primal. Keeping them fed enough not to die. Protecting them from zombies.
Seon Yeowon was exhausted just from that.
What do I do...
The recent food shortage had accelerated everything. They'd raided nearby supply points, but limits existed. Thirty kids couldn't be sustained by one small supermarket forever.
If only that man brought some supplies...
She was a skilled sniper, not a scavenger. A few kids were scavengers or hunters, but low-level and inexperienced. Even with vets, finding food nearby was near impossible.
Please, a miracle...
A motor sound reached her ears.
Hm?
She'd seen plenty of people, but car riders were rare. Folks rich enough for their own cars didn't dump kids at orphanages.
She rushed to the roof and spotted a man approaching the front gate.
"I brought food!"
He was waving.
