Stock the Warehouse Generously - 1
"Alright, alright. Let's make a plan."
Even after rescuing Roa and Heea, a few days had passed. Seohee's body was fully healed now, so there was no longer any need to wait for anything. We weren't short on food or space just yet. But after saving Seohee, Roa, and Heea, I was certain.
This isn't enough...
We needed more supplies. More space. I didn't want to end up in a situation where I couldn't save someone simply because we lacked supplies or room.
"For now, we can unlock the house right away." I scanned my base management status window. I had a decent amount of money saved up. Unlocking the house wasn't cheap, but I'd already cleared one dungeon completely and gathered the funds from there.
"Let's unlock the apartment next door first." This apartment had three units per floor. We didn't desperately need more living space right this moment, but it was an essential investment for me.
"Why?" Roa tilted her head.
"Well... Heea's here, you know?" I pictured Heea, probably happily buried in a book in the master bedroom right now. Considering her age, she could've lounged on the bed reading comfortably, but she sat primly at the tiny desk and chair, posture perfect.
"Is Heea uncomfortable?"
"Not exactly... but, you know. Sex."
All the women here were my sex slaves, but Heea was the exception. I didn't think she was clueless, but I couldn't just openly grope my women around her.
"Ah, so Sunwoo finally feels like embracing Heea? That's a relief. I'll prepare her."
Roa gave a subtle smile.
"That's not it!"
"Really? I thought Heea was ready."
"No... she's still too young, isn't she?"
"Does that matter?"
Well, in this world, anything could happen. Men were so scarce it wasn't even funny. But still, some things were off-limits.
"I'm not going to. At least not until she's grown enough."
"Hmm. She might grow, but as a doctor, I'm not so sure... Well, fine. It's your call in the end."
She seemed to concede for a moment, but Roa's questions kept coming.
"Still, I don't think that's reason enough to hinder your sexual activities."
"Even so, doing it right in front of her is a bit—"
"Aren't you the master of this land and all of us here? Why worry about our feelings?"
"It might not be good for her education."
"I wouldn't welcome it myself... but if that's what you want, it might be for the best."
"Anyway, moving on." Seohee shot her hand up.
"Since we have a base anyway, shouldn't we pick facilities that help with survival in the long run?"
"I thought about that too... but it seems tough for now."
We could expand facilities or buy buildings, but the ones available for purchase with my money were limited to "buildings that would plausibly exist in an apartment complex." Management office, security booth, playground, gym, library, garden, recycling station—stuff that was originally part of the apartment.
"The security booth's pointless without someone to man it as a guard. Playground, gym, library sound nice, but..."
The playground boosted agility when used, and the library gave intelligence bonuses. It might even auto-stock books, though I wasn't sure.
"No facilities directly related to supplies that we need right now."
Of course, the apartment complex had dirt for trees and flower beds, so with good seeds, we could maybe make a small garden. But that still required labor. Nothing we could do immediately.
"Let's just build the recycling station and dump the rest into unlocking rooms."
"I see. So we'll have to rely on expeditions for supplies, then."
"Yeah." I nodded with a smile. Spending enough money might unlock "site expansion," but first, we needed to wipe out zombies around here and make the area "safe."
Supplies could come from nearby supply points, so for now, focus on zombie cleanup.
"From here on, let's pick up the pace for real. Sua, Seohee. You two good to move?"
"Of course!"
"Duh."
They weren't crucial for straight-up combat, but I needed them for scouting. That's when An Sua's scavenger skills would shine. Unlike me, who had to poke around everywhere to check supply points, she could detect them nearby. And Seohee could reliably cover Sua, who was a bit shaky solo.
"Alright, let's do this properly." I grabbed the crude map I'd made and stood up energetically.
"Let's sweep them all away."
Blood splattered. Zombies fell. I cleared the street zombies at a speed incomparable to my first day in this world.
"Whoa, amazing!"
"I knew you were strong, but... this much? Shit, I really survived on pure luck..."
Sua and Seohee, following me, gaped in undisguised shock.
"Were you holding back at first?"
"Not that much... just got used to zombie hunting."
Back in my hero days, I'd hunted countless monsters. Naturally, my style had become straightforward—no extremes, just smooth swordplay that worked reliably against anyone.
But the enemies here were all pretty similar.
"Oh, Goliath ahead. Be right back."
"Be careful!"
"No worries."
I calmly, efficiently dispatched the Goliath without changing expression. It didn't take long. I'd killed them countless times in the dungeon—no hesitation.
"That fast..."
"I've slaughtered a shit-ton of them in the dungeon."
Enemies in this world were limited in number and type. In the dungeon, with nothing else to do, I'd experimented endlessly on efficient kills. Same zombie, different efficiency based on stance, mana distribution, limb order—everything improved.
"Makes sense, but... Goliaths already respawning here?"
"Yeah."
"Didn't we clear this area last time?"
"Zombies respawn pretty fast. Usually, you'd avoid them, not fight."
"Hmm." Seohee grinned, gripping her bat.
"Normally, no one thinks of solo-clearing streets."
"Yeah?"
"You'd send four or five teams of ten, plus an elite squad for special zombies. That's standard."
Solid intel. I just nodded.
"You know your stuff."
"I wasn't always this fucked up. But anyway, that's not the point. At this rate, it'd take years to clean this place."
"Hmm..."
Seohee was right. Two hours in, and we'd only fought tons of monsters—no supply points or survivors.
"And this neighborhood... I knew it was barren, but damn, it's harsh. Even strolling like this, no resupplies..."
An Sua let out a hollow laugh.
"Short on supplies, monsters everywhere. Not our place to say, but it's no place for humans."
"Yeah, really feeling it now..."
Roa's hospital was a bit farther out. Folks there weren't thriving, but not as desperate as Seohee's group.
"Even with shops around, how are supply points this scarce—"
"Found one!"
Sua raised her hand high.
"One to the west!"
"For real?"
We bolted west, Sua leading. A shabby little supermarket. Smaller than the convenience store Seohee had held.
"Ah."
And it was half-empty.
"Someone looted it. Nothing useful left."
"Might be scraps worth grabbing if we look... but total waste of time."
Sua and Seohee were disappointed, but I held faint hope.
"People inside?"
Thought it was empty, but someone was there.
"Near that... oh, the orphanage?"
"Orphanage?"
No sooner had Seohee spoken than a bullet whizzed past my head. I didn't dodge. From the moment it fired, I knew it wouldn't hit. Instead, I looked toward the shot.
"Helllloooooo!!!"
Toward the huge-breasted woman on the rooftop.
