[The Talentless Human]
I want to die. I am a human being of absolutely no use. A parasite who does nothing but eat and take up space. While my friends are slowly finding their footing in the world, I spend my days holed up in a corner of my room.
It’s not that I didn’t try. During my school days, I sat for twelve hours a day, gluing my butt to my chair, trying to study just so I could get into a university like my friends. The result? It was miserable. I ended up with grades so pathetic that even dreaming of a decent college was out of the question.
I gave up quickly. I tried to find a different path by working part-time jobs, but...
“I’m sorry. I don’t think it’s going to work out for us to keep working together.”
Getting fired before I could even last a month became a common occurrence. I could handle all of that. But what I couldn’t endure, more than anything else, was the way my family looked at me. The moment their eyes, which had initially been filled with pity, turned into gazes of pure contempt, an indescribable emotion swallowed me whole.
“You have no talent.”
They say everyone has some kind of talent, but are there exceptions to that rule? No, is there really someone who lacks talent even in video games?
“Are you looking to find your talent?”
In the middle of the park in broad daylight, a woman blocked my path. She had skin as white as jade, an exotic appearance, and ears that poked out sharply from between her long, straight hair.
“I will find it for you.”
Talent—a word that didn’t suit me, Choi Suhyun, in the slightest. I was a human being in whom you couldn’t find even a speck of talent in any field. It was clearly a cult. Yet, perhaps because of her stunning beauty, I couldn’t take my eyes off her face.
“Will you follow me?”
She reached out her hand to me. I had never even dreamed of holding a woman’s hand in my entire life. My body reacted before my mind could even think.
Welcome to the Tower.
