Wings of the Fairies
After squatting on the floor and thoroughly soaping up our swimsuits, I wrung them out and hung them on the showerhead to dry. Then I washed Ruya’s hair. Nearby, a little girl who had come with her mother stared openly at us before pointing with her finger.
“Mom, that horned big sister has something weird on her nipples.”
“Shh! Be quiet!”
“The big sisters have weird drawings on their bellies too.”
“I told you to stop! Hohoho, I’m so sorry.”
“No, it’s all right.”
I answered the flustered woman with a smile. I understood why she reacted that way—Koreans generally had a poor impression of piercings and tattoos, so seeing them in person was rare. While I washed Ruya’s hair, my two Parasitic Tentacle Tails skillfully lathered themselves with body wash and began washing each other. Watching them work so independently really drove home how intelligent they were. Once they finished scrubbing Ruya’s tail, they moved on to my back. Ruya’s own tail, which had been watching, began imitating them and started washing her back as well.
After rinsing my hair, Ruya, now wetting her own, spoke up.
“It’s convenient when they wash your back on their own.”
“They even hold the showerhead for you while you wash your hair.”
“Oh~ That must be really handy.”
I shared a few useful tips with the impressed Ruya while we finished showering. Throughout, every person who entered the shower area flinched in surprise at the sight of us. Among the curious glances sweeping over our bodies, the Parasitic Tentacle Tails drew the most attention. After finishing our shower under the humans’ fascinated stares, we returned to the camper.
Later, we grabbed a simple dinner from nearby food stalls and settled into the camper for a leisurely evening. Lying on the bed between Madam and Ruya, Oppa watched the wall-mounted TV while casually groping their breasts with each hand.
“By the way, whose turn was it today?”
“Today is my day to serve, nya.”
“Ah, Charlotte. What about the others? It’d be awkward if they had to leave.”
“Why bother stepping out? Just do it here.”
“Hohoho, please don’t mind us. Feel free to receive Charlotte’s service.”
“Yeah? Then let’s get started, Charlotte.”
“Understood, nya!”
With the three of us watching, Charlotte’s service began. As usual, she confidently took the lead only to end up pinned helplessly beneath Oppa, being pounded relentlessly. The size difference between them made it inevitable. Still, the sounds of sex were quite loud—would they carry outside? Even though the camper was large, its soundproofing probably wasn’t that good, so I asked.
“Madam, the noise won’t be heard outside, will it?”
“Oh my, I hadn’t thought of that. Please check.”
“Yes, Madam.”
I got up, quickly opened the camper door, stepped out, and closed it again. After listening carefully, I realized the sound didn’t leak out as much as I’d feared. Still, anyone approaching too closely would notice, so we’d have to be careful. I opened the door again and reported inside.
“More noise escapes than I expected. I’ll keep watch outside to make sure no one approaches.”
“Oh dear, I see. Thank you for your trouble.”
“Kyaaang!”
Thwack! Thwack!
Just before I shut the door, Charlotte’s moan rang out clearly. I circled the camper, checking if anyone had overheard. Fortunately, no one was outside, so it seemed safe. I set up a chair in front of the camper, sat down, and activated my radar at low power to monitor for approaching people while waiting for the service to end.
About two hours later, once things quieted down inside, I stood up. Ruya opened the door and poked her head out.
“Service is over. You can come in now.”
“Yes. It ended earlier than usual today.”
“Probably because we’re not at home where it’s comfortable.”
The inside of the camper was thick with the heavy scent of sex. On the messy bed lay Charlotte, sprawled out and unconscious, white semen steadily leaking from between her legs. Oppa, his body glistening with sweat, drank water while Madam gently wiped him down with a damp cloth.
“We should air the place out.”
“We should. Let’s open all the windows.”
“Good thing there are screens. There are a lot of flying insects outside.”
“Ugh~ I hate mosquitoes. Just to be safe, I’ll spray some repellent before bed.”
Mosquitoes were tiny insects that sucked blood from animals. They didn’t exist in Eden, so I’d only learned about them after coming to Earth. While Eden had no bothersome mosquitoes, it had plenty of vicious bugs that ate people instead—that was the real problem.
Exhausted from playing all day, everyone fell asleep as soon as we finished cleaning up after the service. The next morning, we woke late, ate a simple meal of instant ramen with rice and kimchi, then set off for the next campsite. This time we weren’t on the wide-open highway but following winding country roads, which made for an interesting drive.
“Why is the road so narrow here? It’s so inconvenient.”
“Country roads are all like this. At least the camper can still pass through.”
“Ugh, I’m getting more motion sick than before……”
“I’ll infuse you with some Essence.”
While I placed my hand on Madam’s forehead and channeled Essence to ease her motion sickness, the front of the vehicle suddenly grew noisy.
“Huh? Is that heat haze? Doesn’t it look like there’s something shimmering up ahead?”
“Maybe? But it feels like the haze is getting bigger……”
“It’s a random dimensional gate, nya! Dodge it, nya!”
“The surroundings are just rice paddies… Damn it!”
Screeech!
With the urgent shout, the camper lurched violently as the brakes screeched. The sudden tilt to the right sent Madam off balance, and I caught her while looking out the window. Because the vehicle had tipped completely onto its side, all I could see through the glass was blue sky.
“Aaaah! We’re falling!”
“Save us, nya!”
“Why the hell did a dimensional gate have to open right in front of us on the road?!”
Along with the screams from the front, I felt the distinctive floating sensation of freefall.
“If we crash while still inside the camper, we’ll all die! Get out, now!”
“How are we supposed to do that in this situation?! Ow!”
Just as Ruya said, the camper was spinning wildly through the air, making it impossible to keep our footing. This was genuinely dangerous. In a country where any injury could be repaired as long as the brain was intact it might be different, but for my family with ordinary biological bodies, this was life-threatening. I swatted away a frying pan that had floated up and was about to hit Madam, frantically trying to think of a solution, when a light suddenly began glowing from my lower abdomen.
“Kyaaaaah! Huh? What’s this?”
“Nya! Our falling speed is suddenly slowing down, nya!”
“Wings just appeared on the sides of the camper!”
At Oppa’s words, I looked out the window. There really were wings sprouting from the sides of the camper. And their shape looked familiar.
“Aren’t those fairy wings, nya?”
“Oh, yeah. They look just like a fairy’s butterfly wings. Why did something like this suddenly appear?”
“Who cares why! The important thing is that we’re alive!”
“Right, nya! We’re alive, nya!”
Indeed, they were fairy wings—large, butterfly-like wings identical to a fairy’s, flapping on either side of the camper. Ah, could this be thanks to the blessing the fairies had given me back then? They’d said it would save us in a crisis. I didn’t know exactly how it worked, but it seemed to have activated upon recognizing our life-threatening fall. Just to be sure, I lifted my shirt and checked my abdomen. The wing-shaped pattern left by the fairies’ blessing was glowing brightly.
“It seems the fairy blessing I received has activated and allowed the camper to fly.”
“That blessing we got after finishing the request? So it really did have an effect.”
“In the end, we survived thanks to Elisha, nya! Thank you, nya!”
Charlotte lunged forward, wrapping her arms around my neck and licking my cheek. I felt the rough texture of her tongue against my skin.
“Haa, we really almost died. How did a dimensional gate just appear right in front of us on the road?”
“I can’t tell if we’re lucky or unlucky.”
“Ugh, motion sickness……”
“Oh no.”
She’d been quiet for a while—I should have known it was motion sickness. I placed my hand on her forehead again and infused more Essence.
“But isn’t flying in the sky supposed to be fine? Airplanes didn’t bother you before.”
“Airplanes don’t shake much, so I could handle them. Ugh, but right now the shaking is too intense……”
The constant tilting and swaying seemed to be making her motion sickness worse. After some time of unsteady flight, the camper finally stabilized its balance and began gliding smoothly, gradually losing altitude. The ground below started becoming visible through the windows that had previously shown only blue sky. Oppa, peering out the window, spoke up.
“Isn’t that a city down there? I can see some tall buildings.”
“You’re right. Looks like we didn’t fall into some uninhabited dimension after all. That’s a relief.”
“Then let’s head that way, nya.”
“We’re flying right now, but I don’t think I can actually control……”
Oppa turned the steering wheel left and right to demonstrate that he couldn’t control it. Surprisingly, the camper tilted left and right in response to the wheel’s movements.
“……Huh? It actually changes direction. Man, that blessing is seriously overpowered! Thanks, fairies!”
“Elisha was the one who received the blessing.”
“Thanks, Elisha!”
“Elisha really is a lucky charm, nya!”
“It’s nothing. It was just a blessing I happened to receive.”
While Charlotte and Ruya touched my glowing abdomen, the camper changed direction in midair and flew toward what appeared to be a city. However, the closer we got to the coastal city, the more uneasy I felt.
“Why does it look like a war zone down there?”
“There’s no one around, nya.”
“It looks like a completely dead city.”
“What on earth happened……”
Concerned by the city’s ominous appearance, I magnified my vision for a closer look. Unlike the streets littered with abandoned vehicles and debris, the buildings themselves were surprisingly intact. Only the lower floors showed damage; aside from plants beginning to grow over the upper levels, they were clean. Several building entrances had barricades set up.
“The buildings are surprisingly undamaged compared to the filthy streets. Some of them even have barricades at the entrances.”
“Did a real war happen here?”
“There’s not a single person, nya?”
“Just a moment.”
I scanned the area with my precision sensors for any movement. Aside from objects swaying in the wind, there was no sign of animal activity either. Just as I was about to stop the scan, movement was detected on the rooftop of a tall building.
“I’m not sure if it’s human, but there’s movement on one of the buildings.”
“Which building?”
“The one next to the apartment complex with almost no windows.”
“Isn’t that a supermarket, nya?”
“Yeah, it does look like a supermarket building.”
“Let’s go there, dear.”
“Okay. I was having trouble finding a place to land anyway. We can set down on that building’s roof.”
Miraculously, the winged camper responded to the accelerator by increasing its flight speed. It glided gracefully toward the supermarket rooftop. Though movement had been detected earlier, the roof was empty when we arrived.
Thud—
The camper landed with a heavy impact. As soon as it touched down, the fairy wings that had sprouted from its sides, along with the pattern on my abdomen, emitted a burst of light and vanished. Once outside, we looked around while pulling out the dimensional beacon from our dimensional pouch and activating it.
“Good, the beacon is working. Once Earth picks up the signal, they’ll trace it and pinpoint our coordinates.”
“We’ll have to wait here for a while. Hmm……”
Ruya stood at the rooftop railing, looking down, and let out a groan. Wondering what was wrong, I approached and asked.
“What’s wrong? Is something the matter?”
“Look down at the ground over there. Doesn’t that look like blood?”
“Where?”
Following her pointing finger, I saw what appeared to be dark red, dried blood. The problem was the sheer amount—it was far more than what one person could bleed.
“It really does look like dried blood. But isn’t there too much of it?”
“Maybe? Could it be oil instead of blood……”
“Everyone, gather up! Let’s have a meeting!”
At Oppa’s call, the family gathered to discuss how to proceed.
“By some absurd probability, a random gate opened right in front of us on the road and we nearly died. But thanks to the fairy blessing Elisha received, we survived without a single injury.”
“I really can’t tell if we’re lucky or unlucky.”
“Hohoho, the most important thing is that we survived.”
“Exactly. Now we’ll have to hold out here for at least a few days—maybe even a couple of months if we’re really unlucky. Everyone packed a month’s worth of food in their dimensional pouches, right?”
“Of course, nya.”
“Yes, we have all our hunter equipment and supplies as well.”
As hunters, we always carried at least a month’s worth of food in case of emergencies. The high-calorie rations meant for hunters could stretch to two months if we rationed carefully, as long as we weren’t in an extreme situation. Oppa nodded at the women’s answers and continued.
“If nothing goes wrong, we can manage two months without issue. Still, just in case, let’s start by scouting the area. We need to secure anything that could serve as food and prepare for any potential dangers.”
“Charlotte has sharp senses, and Elisha can detect the surroundings with her radar, so let’s put them on the scouting team.”
“Right. Charlotte, Elisha, and I will go scout the area. Ekaterina and Ruya, stay here and guard the camper.”
“Yes, dear.”
“All right, everyone get ready.”
Following Oppa’s instructions as our leader, we split into scouting and guard teams and began preparing.
