Wings of Mischief
Ruya stared blankly at the sight of them vanishing straight into their own little world, then spoke in a slightly dumbfounded voice.
“I’m not the only one who finds this ridiculous, right?”
“I’m pretty bewildered myself.”
It had all unfolded so smoothly, as if everything had been prepared in advance.
“Still, if they’re happy about it, then it’s a good thing.”
“Haa… I suppose I should congratulate them.”
They only managed to set out for the request after having sex multiple times, matching the surge in their libido and stamina. Thanks to hurrying along to make up for the delay, eight days after arriving at the Great Jungle Dungeon, they finally encountered the fairies they had been seeking.
“Wow, it’s exactly like Ruya said.”
“Right?”
The fairies truly were winged children. It wasn’t about their body size—they really looked like human children, complete with wings, flying around just as the name suggested. They wore simple clothes made from various leaves, most had short or bobbed hair, and because they all appeared so young, it was impossible to tell their genders apart. Even their faces looked similar, making them seem like a bunch of twins.
The fairies, watching our party with eyes full of curiosity, simply hovered around us until one wearing a splendid headpiece approached and spoke.
“Welcome, travelers. I am the king of the Fairy Kingdom. My name is Markdu.”
Ugh.
“It’s been a while, Your Majesty.”
“Hello.”
“Nice to meet you, nya!”
It seemed I was the only one surprised by the fairy king’s formal speech. A childlike appearance paired with such a solemn tone and dignified face—it was hard to get used to.
The fairy king chuckled warmly, then fluttered over to hover around Ruya as he spoke.
“Hehehe, yes, yes. It is good to see you again.”
“I’m glad to see you looking healthy.”
While Ruya, wearing her gentlest smile, conversed with the fairy king, I quietly asked Gwangnam.
“He seems nicer than I expected?”
“He’s basically kind if you treat him well. The problem is the fairy fruit.”
Fairy fruit. The golden fruit that only grew on rare trees in the fairies’ habitat was said to be both an important health food and a medicinal remedy for them. It was a miraculous fruit that could heal most injuries or illnesses—even in patients on the verge of death—without any side effects, so they treasured it like their own lives.
“The fairies treat those fruits like their own lives, so no amount of wealth will make them trade. Besides, currency doesn’t really mean anything to their kind. You have to be someone who saved them from a great crisis or a very close friend who has granted them many favors before they’ll give you any.”
“So it’s a precious item that can’t be obtained through ordinary means.”
Although they possessed powerful magic and holy power, fairy fruit was used in a wide variety of products and was popular as emergency medicine, so demand was always high. However, because it was so difficult to obtain, supply couldn’t keep up with demand, which drove the price quite high.
The Bitnari Hunter Team was one of the few groups that had managed to receive the fruit five times, thanks to Ruya—an elf species with whom the fairies felt particular affinity—and the tremendous effort they had put into fulfilling countless requests. The other fairies, seeing how friendly the king was acting, began approaching one by one and started begging to play.
The team members gathered in small groups and began entertaining the fairies. One of them also crept shyly toward me.
The fairies with butterfly-like wings floated in the air without moving their wings, making it obvious that some other force was at work.
“Hi, big sis?”
“Hello!”
“Yes, hello.”
“Play with us!”
“Play! Play!”
“What should we play?”
“Tag!”
“Waaa~”
“Big sis is it!”
The five fairies, who looked almost identical, laughed and chattered before suddenly darting off in every direction. What the—? Tag all of a sudden? I couldn’t even tell who was who, so how was I supposed to play tag?
“Just go along with it! They’ll be happy as long as you play with them!”
“Okay!”
I shouted back to Gwangnam, who was having his hair yanked by the fairies in the distance, then began chasing the one fairy I could still see.
Thanks to the tracking function built into my combat program, I didn’t lose sight of the designated target as I leaped between the trees in pursuit. The fairy, apparently thrilled that I was coming after her, burst into bright laughter and toyed with me using flashy techniques—short-range teleportation, invisibility, sudden direction changes, and more.
She might look like a child, but her escaping skills were beyond imagination.
“Nyah~ Catch me if you can~”
“Catch me too, big sis!”
“Me too!”
Because I kept chasing only one, other fairies suddenly popped out of nowhere, begging me to catch them as well. They circled around me, interfering with my pursuit, so I tried switching targets, but they were so quick that I simply couldn’t catch any of them.
“Can you stop for a second?!”
“Nyah nyah~ You’re so slow~”
“Slowpoke! Slowpoke!”
“Ugh!”
Suddenly, from behind where I couldn’t see, one fairy yanked off the shorts I was wearing. The pants I had on literally vanished in an instant.
“Wait, how did you—?”
“It’s a stealing spell!”
“Wow! She’s only wearing underwear now!”
“Embarrassing~ So embarrassing~”
A spell that could even steal the clothes you were wearing? It was so absurd I was speechless. I chased after the fairy who was flying around with my shorts like a trophy, but between the constraints of the jungle terrain and her flashy evasive maneuvers, I couldn’t even touch her.
“Hup!”
“Whoa!”
While my attention was on one fairy, another stole my panties, leaving my lower half completely exposed. The fairies flying around me began teasing me about it.
“Hehehe! She’s naked!”
“She’s a slut!”
“What’s a slut?”
“Dunno. The king said to call naked ladies sluts.”
“Then she’s a slut!”
“Slut!”
Ah… Now I was starting to understand why acquiring fairy fruit had such an extreme difficulty rating. Having to keep granting requests for these unpredictable fairies until they liked you… Just the first request of playing tag was enough to completely exhaust my mind.
Come to think of it, Gwangnam was still having his hair pulled. I hoped his scalp was okay.
“By the way, what’s that drawing on your belly?”
“It’s drawn so well!”
Before I knew it, the fairies had stripped off my top as well and were marveling at the succubus emblem on my stomach.
“It’s a characteristic of my race.”
“You’re not human?”
“I’m a succubus based on a human template.”
“Whoa~ Never heard of that before!”
“But why do you look exactly like a human?”
“Yeah, right?”
The fairies tilted their heads, looking back and forth at each other, then soon burst into cheerful laughter as if it didn’t matter.
“Let’s just play!”
“I’m it this time!”
“Waa~ Run away~”
“Huu…”
I hurriedly fled from the fairy flying toward me with sparkling eyes. But avoiding fairies who could teleport, turn invisible, and fly with perfect freedom was an insane level of difficulty.
In the end, I couldn’t run for long before becoming it again. Realizing this wasn’t going to work, I pondered for a moment and suddenly remembered that I had wings too. When I revealed my succubus wings to catch the fairies who flew freely through the air, their reaction was explosive.
“Wow! Big sis has wings too!”
“So cool!”
“Black wings!”
“They’re huge!”
“So fluffy!”
They touched my wings, rubbed their faces against them—it was complete chaos. QA had definitely said that if I released vital energy through my wings as if exhaling it, I could fly, right?
I focused on moving a small amount of vital energy and releasing it through my wings. The energy moved according to my will, flowing out through my wings. With a light floating sensation, my body gently rose into the air.
“Whoa! She’s flying!”
“Is big sis a fairy too?”
“Idiot! Big sis has boobs!”
“Jiggle jiggle!”
“So soft! Feels nice!”
I ignored the noisy fairies touching or burying their faces in my chest and focused on flying. Once I started using my wings to fly, I instinctively began to understand how it worked.
It was clumsy at first, but as I quickly grew accustomed to flight, the fairies watched with delight.
“She looks like a baby fairy!”
“Is this your first time flying?”
“Yes, today is my first time. But now I can fly too, right?”
“Hehehe! Now we can play even more fun games!”
“Yay!”
I gradually grew used to flying and could move freely through the air. However, there was a small problem. Vital energy was being consumed to help cool my entire body, and adding flight on top of that meant the consumption was higher than expected. On top of that, maintaining my human form already consumed a considerable amount of vital energy normally, so overall it was quite taxing.
After thinking about what to do, I decided to release the transformation, which consumed more vital energy than flying. I focused my mind, and the horns that had disappeared sprouted from my head again. A tail emerged, my skin returned to its light purple hue, and I reverted to my original appearance. Feeling refreshed as if I had shed a layer, I stretched.
“Big sis turned purple!”
“Her eyes are red!”
“Horns!”
“She has a tail too!”
“This is a succubus’s true form.”
“So cool!”
The fairies spun around me in circles, observing curiously. Taking advantage of the moment, I caught one.
“Got you. Now you’re it, little fairy.”
“Ah! That’s cheating!”
“Catching us while we were looking!”
“No! Tag never stopped!”
“Waa! Run away!”
Everyone except the newly tagged fairy scattered in all directions, and the game of tag began anew.
It was the second day since arriving at the fairy habitat. Since there was no night, we could only measure the passage of time through the clock built into our implants. And because there was no night, the fairies—who possessed infinite stamina—never stopped playing.
“Caught you! Now big sis is it!”
“I’ll catch you again.”
“Ehehe!”
The cute fairy with a bob cut smiled brightly before vanishing with a pop. That fairy was one of the friends the original five had brought along. Just like the tireless fairies, my fully cybernetic succubus body had stamina I could be confident in, so after playing with them all day, they had brought even more friends. Now we were playing team tag—five against five, including me and the nine fairies.
“Ahaha! Got distracted!”
“Ah! Cheater!”
Even now, a chaotic chase to escape being it was unfolding throughout the dense jungle. Since the team with fewer people tagged at the end won, I hurried to find a fairy who wasn’t it.
I flew between the trees and targeted a fairy who wasn’t it, engaging in a dizzying aerial pursuit. The fairies made full use of their small bodies and incredible maneuvers, which made it hard to catch up since my turning radius was larger.
“Hehe! Big sis is too big!”
“Tch.”
She slipped through a narrow gap between thick branches, turned around, stuck out her tongue, and taunted me. It honestly made me a little angry. I increased the amount of vital energy used for flight to boost my speed and close the distance.
The fairies’ flight was incredibly free, allowing instant direction changes, but their overall speed was rather slow. In contrast, my flight required distance for turns but offered faster acceleration and top speed.
“Got you!”
“Ah! Too fast! Foul!”
“You shouldn’t say things like that, little fairy.”
“Wait for meee!”
I left the fairy’s cry behind and fled at the highest speed I could manage.
It was the third day since arriving at the fairy habitat. The numbers had grown again—now four fairies were it on one team, and ten runners on the other. Tag had become a massive sport encompassing the entire habitat.
“Big sis! Here! Over here!”
“Okay!”
Where the bob-cut fairy was waving, the runners from our team were fleeing from the ones who were it, just as planned. The strategy was to herd the fairies down a single path, then lie in ambush at the escape route using the fairies’ own invisibility magic to strike.
“Yah!”
When the bob-cut fairy shouted and raised her hand to activate the spell, sparkling fairy dust scattered, turning me and two others invisible. We waited, and soon a group of fairies teasing the ones who were it came flying closer.
“Nyah nyah nyah~ You can’t catch us alone, can you?”
“But why is she alone?”
“Yeah, why?”
At one fairy’s sudden question, all the fairies tilted their heads at the same time and stopped—right when the hidden ones who were it launched their ambush.
“Yaaah!”
“I caught one!”
“Take that!”
“Waaah! That scared me!”
“Run!”
While the fairies were startled by our sudden appearance, we managed to take out three of them. I high-fived the fairy who had done an excellent job as the herder and praised her.
“Well done!”
“Hehe! That was easy!”
“Only four left now!”
“Let’s go!”
I followed the three fairies flying quickly toward where the others had fled, cutting through the now-familiar jungle. Because we had flown over such a wide area while playing tag, I occasionally caught glimpses of the other team members’ situations.
Gwangnam was still having his hair pulled while dancing with the fairies. Ekaterina was patting the sleeping fairies and singing them lullabies. Charlotte was nowhere to be seen for some reason.
Even now, while flying, I ran into Gwangnam, who was still being clung to by fairies. When he spotted me flying through the sky, he greeted me with an enlightened, almost transcendent expression.
“Hey there, Miss Succubus. Doing well?”
“Ah! It’s the naughty big sis!”
“Hello! Sex demon big sis!”
“Hello.”
The area around Gwangnam, which had an unusually high ratio of female fairies, grew even noisier with my arrival.
