Chapter 108: Taking Them All Down
"Old Six, not bad. You actually followed Old Zhong here. Good eye," Ding Huan's gaze fell on Old Six.
Old Six, who had been glaring at Zhong Chi earlier, immediately put on a fawning expression upon seeing Ding Huan, chattering away, clearly trying to curry favor.
Zhong Chi snorted, "Old Six, I was the one who brought you here, right? You gave me the stink eye the whole way, but as soon as you see Brother Ding, you act like a grandson."
Old Six couldn't be bothered to respond, merely glancing at Qi Xin Yue beside Ding Huan.
"Old Zhong, I plan to storm the nest of these alien bastards. Since you're here, you can lend a hand," Ding Huan had originally planned to go tomorrow, but with Old Zhong here, he decided to go today.
The sooner they went, the less likely the enemy would notice.
"Haha, Brother Ding, as long as you think highly of me, Old Zhong, I'll stick with you to the end," Zhong Chi thumped his chest with a loud smack.
In his heart, he was mocking Zhu Qinjiang.
That old Zhu had told him to follow the Security Bureau.
Hmph, following the Security Bureau? Now they're just holed up in the Federation trenches.
Following Brother Ding is much more exciting—storming the alien nest directly.
Just thinking about it made him feel exhilarated.
"Good, Old Zhong, you haven't disappointed me. Here, take this blade. Let's go together," Ding Huan grabbed the Starry Sky Blade he had been using and tossed it to Zhong Chi.
"Brother Ding, I have a blade. You're the one without a proper weapon," Zhong Chi quickly refused.
"I have a weapon, don't worry about me," Ding Huan waved his hand, not taking the blade back.
He now had the White Hardwood Spear.
The Starry Sky Blade, aside from being sharp, wasn't much use to him anymore.
"Alright, then I won't stand on ceremony. When do we leave?" Zhong Chi grabbed the Starry Sky Blade and laughed.
Back then, this blade had been confiscated by the Federation.
He didn't have the money to buy it and could only watch as Nian Jinqing took it.
"Right now," Ding Huan sat in the cockpit and started the Blue Star.
At that moment, Ding Huan felt like he was back in the old days, drifting through the stars in the Number Five Star.
The difference was, now he had companions.
Back then, he was always alone.
The Blue Star shot out a beam of blue light, soaring into the sky.
Ding Huan sighed.
Compared to the Blue Star, the Security Bureau's single-engine fighter was a joke.
If they had a fleet of these battle starships, the Earth Federation wouldn't need to fight at all.
Even though Ding Huan had slowed down the speed, the Blue Star reached the alien base in just half an hour.
If he hadn't slowed down, they might have already left Earth.
In front of them were two massive battle discs.
It was unclear what kind of energy powered these discs.
Ding Huan quickly maneuvered the Blue Star to stop between the two battle discs.
Once the Blue Star stopped, Ding Huan breathed a sigh of relief.
He had been worried that the enemy would attack before he could even land.
"Ting Ti, Ji Yuan, what are you doing? Who told you to park the escort ship between the battle discs?" an angry voice rang out inside the cabin.
"Old Zhong, the door on the left battle disc is open. I'll go in. You take the other one. Control it as quickly as possible. Old Six and Xin Yue, stay on the Blue Star."
With that, Ding Huan opened the hatch, grabbed his White Hardwood Spear, and leaped into the air, charging toward the battle disc.
The two guards at the entrance didn't even have time to draw their weapons before Ding Huan's wind blades cut them down.
Ding Huan entered the battle disc without any resistance.
Ba Lu had just received news that Ting Ti and Ji Yuan had returned when Ding Huan suddenly burst in.
From the moment Ding Huan landed the Blue Star to charging into the battle disc and killing the two guards, it had taken less than ten seconds.
There were twelve people in the conference room.
Although the Zhan Shen Base had zero casualties so far, Captain Ba Lu was still deeply worried.
He was concerned about the constant attacks from Earth's military.
The Zhan Shen Base had a light barrier that blocked endless artillery fire, but it came at a cost—piles of Zhan Shen Crystals and energy veins.
Each Zhan Shen Crystal was extremely valuable in the Zhan Shen Continent.
Consuming tens of thousands of them was unsustainable.
As for the energy veins, they were the foundation of traversing the universe.
Once depleted, the battle discs would be useless.
Even if they conquered Earth, the gains might not cover the cost of the Zhan Shen Crystals.
Due to the shortage of Zhan Shen Crystals, this meeting included the leaders of the two battle discs and a starship, aside from Ting Ti and Ji Yuan.
They were discussing how to minimize losses.
An Qing'er, one of the advisors, suggested a more permanent solution.
Instead of waiting for Earth's forces to keep attacking, they should take the initiative.
Just like how they had taken over West Asia, if they wiped out all of Earth's forces, the planet would be under their control.
Ba Lu agreed with this suggestion and was now discussing the details of the operation.
With the battle imminent, Ba Lu had personally urged Ting Ti and Ji Yuan twice.
Ding Huan's sudden intrusion couldn't have been more timely.
Three quick-thinking individuals had already drawn their light killer crossbows, but Ding Huan was faster.
Several wind blades shot out.
Three heads flew, and three headless bodies collapsed.
After killing these three, Ding Huan sent out more wind blades, killing four more.
The remaining five didn't dare move.
Ding Huan's killing speed was too fast.
They also noticed that the seven who had been killed all had one thing in common—they had drawn their light killer crossbows.
"Who are you?" Ba Lu didn't dare move.
Ding Huan's strength far exceeded his expectations of Earth's warriors.
Though he asked who Ding Huan was, he already knew Ding Huan was one of Earth's strongest.
"Anyone without value, step forward," Ding Huan slapped Ba Lu's neck, and Ba Lu felt all his strength drain away, collapsing to the ground.
At this point, he couldn't even lift a finger, let alone fight back.
No one stepped forward.
Ding Huan pointed at an older, thin, tall man.
"You, step forward."
The man quickly walked up to Ding Huan.
In the face of someone as decisive as Ding Huan, there was no room for luck.
"What's your value?" Ding Huan asked.
The man hurriedly replied, "I can command the Immortal Spiders. Watch."
As he spoke, he waved his hand, and dozens of Immortal Spiders seemed to appear out of thin air, surrounding Ding Huan.
Ding Huan could see clearly.
These Immortal Spiders, when shrunk, looked like black balls resting in the corners.
With a command, they transformed into two-meter-tall tentacled monsters.
The others watched nervously.
If the Immortal Spiders trapped Ding Huan, he would be done for.
The dozens of Immortal Spiders moved in unison, flowing through the air like liquid, extending hundreds of long legs toward Ding Huan.
The legs of the Immortal Spiders seemed to stretch infinitely.
Though they were still meters away from Ding Huan, the legs reached him in an instant.
Ding Huan raised his hand and sent out hundreds of wind blades.
He didn't cut the legs.
From Ji Yuan, he had learned that these Immortal Spiders couldn't be killed by ordinary means.
Cutting their legs would only make things worse.
If the legs were severed, they would immediately form small spiders that would attack Ding Huan.
After the battle, these small spiders would return to the original spider, merging back into one.
Almost simultaneously, three more people drew their light killer crossbows.
Earlier, no one had been able to use the light killer crossbows to threaten Ding Huan, not because the crossbows were ineffective, but because they hadn't had the chance to activate them.
"Pfft! Pfft! Pfft!" Blade after blade shot out, and the dozens of Immortal Spiders surrounding Ding Huan fell from the sky like paper, cut down by his wind blades.
These Immortal Spiders, made of some unknown material, turned into a pile of mush upon hitting the ground.
At the same time, sensing danger, Ding Huan twisted his body.
Even so, a light killer crossbow bolt grazed his arm, leaving a bloody gash.
The light killer crossbows were incredibly fast once activated.
Ding Huan had dodged only because he sensed the danger.
Otherwise, he was sure he wouldn't have been able to avoid it.
"Crack!" The light killer crossbow's bolt, after grazing Ding Huan's arm, hit the conference room door behind him, blasting a hole through it.
Ding Huan stared at the man who had fired—a short, fat man.
At the same time, the fat man was even more shocked than Ding Huan.
None of the dozens of Immortal Spiders that had charged at Ding Huan had survived.
Clearly, Ding Huan had figured out the secret to killing them.
The man who had summoned the Immortal Spiders had already had his neck sliced open by Ding Huan.
His eyes were wide open, unable to believe what had just happened.
Of the two who had drawn their light killer crossbows with him, only he was still standing.
The other two hadn't even activated their crossbows before Ding Huan had cut their throats.
"Not bad, you managed to dodge my blade. You've got some skills. What's your name?" Ding Huan suddenly asked.
Just as the fat man was about to speak, a faint sense of killing intent seemed to envelop him.
He frantically retreated.
"Pfft!" A blade that could have severed his wrist struck a chair, splitting it in two.
"Huh, you dodged again. Impressive," Ding Huan didn't waste any more words.
His White Hardwood Spear transformed into dozens of spear lights, shooting out.
Several more light killer crossbow bolts shot from the fat man's crossbow, but by then, not only did he fail to hit Ding Huan, he couldn't even figure out where Ding Huan was.
"Crack!" The fat man felt a sharp pain in his wrist.
The next moment, he saw his wrist being torn off by a spear light.
Two more spear lights struck his other wrist, shattering it.
"Ahhh!" The fat man let out a blood-curdling scream and collapsed to the ground.
Ding Huan walked over and kicked the fat man in the face, sending him tumbling next to Captain Ba Lu.
This fat man's strength was probably on par with a typical ninth-level gene cultivator.
"Friend, spare me," despite having both hands severed by Ding Huan's White Hardwood Spear, the fat man's will to survive was strong.
"Earlier, I asked that old man what his value was, and he summoned the Immortal Spiders to show me. How careless of him. As a result, three more of you died, and you lost both your hands," Ding Huan said in a reproachful tone.
The fat man quickly nodded, "Yes, yes, he was blind to dare attack you, friend."
"Hmm, your eyes don't seem too bright either," Ding Huan hummed in agreement.
"Yes, yes, I was blind too. But now my eyes are clear. I have great value to you, friend," the fat man answered faster than Ji Yuan had earlier.
"I don't see it," Ding Huan sat down on a chair and, with a wave of his hand, collected the Zhan Shen Crystals from the bodies of the Immortal Spiders he had killed.
After storing the Zhan Shen Crystals, Ding Huan waved his hand again, and ten leather pouches landed in his hands.
These pouches belonged to the ten people he had just killed, each containing their most valuable possessions.
"Friend, my name is Zang Yu Ding Hui. I'm the controller of the other battle disc. I can transfer control of the disc to you," Zang Yu Ding Hui's tone was fawning, showing no signs of resistance.
Captain Ba Lu, who was too weak to move, shouted, "Zang Yu Ding Hui, are you trying to get yourself killed? Do you know the consequences of what you're saying?"
"Ba Lu, if it weren't for you, would we be in this mess?" Zang Yu Ding Hui had no respect left for Captain Ba Lu.
Ding Huan sneered, "Ba Lu, it seems like you're the one trying to get yourself killed. Zang Yu Ding Hui might face consequences, but you might not even live to see them."
