The Capital Company’s Second Face
Hiding as a delivery rider, Suhyuk rode his scooter toward Changho Building.
He parked in a suitable alley, then gently took Reaper’s Robe from Pouch of the Dead, tucked in his pants pocket, and draped it over himself.
He had come here in broad daylight on purpose.
Cheol-gamen and the Kim brothers, Kyung-su and Tae-su, were still an unknown quantity as far as rank went, so he had decided to come and check the power of their base for himself.
A quiet night would have been too dangerous for reconnaissance; even the faintest sound or movement could give him away, so he judged it unsuitable.
Keeping his footsteps as soft as he could, he slowly approached the building.
Contrary to the crumbling old commercial property he had imagined, the entrance to the neat, orderly building was dominated by a large sign that clearly read “Changho Capital.”
It was practically advertising itself as the building’s flagship tenant.
Capital?
Suhyuk’s brow furrowed slightly.
Was this another business entirely, something like loan-shark operations on top of the drug manufacturing and distribution? Or was it just a front?
With that question in mind, Suhyuk quietly made his way to the second floor.
The interior of Changho Capital, visible through the glass doors, looked exactly like the office of a normal, legitimate company.
People in crisp suits, ID cards hanging from their necks, moved briskly back and forth.
This doesn’t look like a simple front...
It might have been a perfectly ordinary, properly registered lending company that just happened to be renting space in Changho Building.
But Suhyuk still remembered the truth Jik-hun—Chicken Gangjeong—had bellowed with blood vessels standing out in Hell.
He said the entire Changho Building was Cheolsu-pa’s base.
The people in front of him were smiling, working like ordinary office employees.
And even when he looked at them through the Reaper’s Eye, not a single trace of sin appeared above their heads.
There’s no way Jik-hun’s words, forced out by the Echoes of Hell, were a lie. Don’t mistake the shell in front of your eyes for the truth.
Truth and fact were not the same thing.
On the surface, this capital company appeared to be a lawful, fully functioning business that paid taxes like any other.
Just then, taking advantage of a group of employees opening the glass door as they left for lunch, Suhyuk slipped inside without a sound.
Once he was in, the situation became even clearer.
Women answering loan inquiries politely over the phone, employees reviewing documents on their monitors and approving loans—it was all entirely ordinary.
There was nothing suspicious or strange anywhere.
Everyone was simply busy doing their own jobs.
Suhyuk quietly took Compass of the Vengeful Dead from his pants pocket.
Unlike its usual, listless response—its worn needle wobbling weakly because there were no sinners nearby—the compass moved differently now.
The needle couldn’t settle on a single point; it spun wildly across the compass face, shaking as if possessed.
It was clear proof that there were at least two sinners within a ten-meter radius.
Hm?
Then a neatly dressed woman in a two-piece suit, walking toward the CEO’s office with a file folder clutched to her chest, caught Suhyuk’s eye.
The wandering needle snapped rigidly toward her back and began to follow it.
Meaning she was the nearest sinner.
And then Suhyuk’s Reaper’s Eye read the hideous black text writhing above her head.
Organ Removal
Human Trafficking
Kidnapping and Illegal Confinement
Special Intimidation
Abusive Treatment
So that’s it.
The corner of Suhyuk’s mouth curled into a nasty grin.
The moment the woman opened the heavy door to the CEO’s office and stepped inside, Suhyuk pressed close behind her and slipped through the gap into the room.
Click.
Once the thick soundproof door shut, the ringing phones and low white noise from outside were cut off completely.
The CEO’s office was spacious and lavishly furnished.
On a high-end leather sofa sat a broad-shouldered man, legs crossed arrogantly as he smoked a cigar.
Suhyuk’s gaze rose to the man’s head.
Above it, far longer and far more nauseating strings of sin spread out than the ones above the woman who had just come in.
“Boss. I brought the documents.”
The woman’s voice, soft and pleasant just moments ago in the hallway, had turned flat and cold the instant she entered the office, devoid of all feeling.
She tossed the file folder onto the desk.
“Oh, really? That bastard actually signed?”
The middle-aged CEO pulled the cigar from his mouth and cackled with ugly delight.
On top of the document he unfolded roughly, the words Renunciation of Physical Rights were printed in thick, ominous letters.
“Yes. We went to the daughter’s school, showed her our faces for a second, and she started crying and screaming her head off before stamping it right away.”
“Hahaha! That’s why you’re Team Leader Park. Nice and clean, the way you handle things.”
With not a flicker of guilt on her face for trampling another person’s life into the ground, Team Leader Park calmly continued her report.
“Good. If they don’t pay, send them straight to the workshop. If we drag our feet and it leaks to the police or the press, it’ll become a headache.”
Even while discussing the horrifying ease with which human lives could be treated like trash, no one in the office changed expression.
A legal capital company on the outside, handing out loans to decent citizens. On the inside, a hellish ant-lion pit that shoved debtors who couldn’t repay into the abyss.
It was hard to imagine there being anything more disgusting or cruel in the world.
They’re probably just like the department that handles delinquent debtors.
The loan consultants and approval staff would be working diligently, never realizing what kind of tragedy they were helping create.
The fact that Suhyuk couldn’t find any sin on them with the Reaper’s Eye was proof enough.
Tsk, tsk.
Just as Suhyuk was clicking his tongue inwardly, the CEO spoke again.
“There’s one more unusual thing, Boss.”
“What is it? Is the broker giving us trouble?”
“No. It seems there was a major incident with the Yacha-pa last night.”
“Why Yacha? What kind of incident?”
“Apparently unknown enemies attacked out of nowhere, killed the Yacha-pa boss and his second-in-command, poisoned a considerable portion of their force in the parking lot, and then reduced them to dust.”
Suhyuk stood in the corner and listened in silence.
Last night, he had slaughtered the organization members in Yacha-pa’s parking lot and erased their corpses without a trace with Punishment of Sin.
The horrifying sight of them writhing in agony as their life force was sucked out of them must have looked, to the Yacha-pa stragglers who fled, as if they had been turned to powder by some unknown poison.
Given the circumstances, poison was probably the easiest explanation to force onto the scene.
“Are you crazy... poisoned to dust? What kind of movie set is this? So what happened after that?”
“With Yacha-pa’s upper leadership gone overnight, it looks like the Black Moon faction plans to take this chance to seize the empty territory and clean things up.”
“Hmm... Poisoned to dust sounds hard to believe, but Yacha definitely took a huge hit, right? Especially the leadership.”
“Yes.”
“Then we absolutely need to report this to him. There’s a lot of overlap between the Black Moon bastards and us here in Cheolsu-pa’s business. If Black Moon gets too big, they’ll definitely start pushing back against us.”
The CEO crushed out his cigar in the ashtray and muttered while rubbing his chin.
“Then I’ll sort everything out and send the report up.”
After bowing, Team Leader Park turned to leave.
Suhyuk quietly clenched his right hand.
With a soft hiss, Reaper’s Scythe, carrying a chill edge, was summoned into his grasp.
He had been about to reap that repulsive woman’s throat in one clean stroke.
“Ah, Team Leader Park. Wait a second.”
The CEO stood and waved her back.
Then he moved to the sofa.
“The workshop relocation. Let’s do it today. You go yourself and move everything carefully, without leaving a single trace behind. In this line of work, you can’t trust other people with important jobs. And lately things in our Cheolsu-pa have been rough and nasty, so don’t let anyone get on your tail. The guys are extremely on edge these days.”
“Yes, Boss. I’ll keep that in mind.”
At those words, Suhyuk gently lowered the angle of the scythe he’d raised to sever the man’s neck and drew back the killing intent.
Just like I tore apart their manufacturing plant, this time I should rip apart their organ-harvesting workshop.
Watching Team Leader Park’s back, Suhyuk murmured the skill under his breath.
Thread of Sin.
Then, starting at Team Leader Park’s feet, a blood-red line visible only to Suhyuk began to slither across the floor like a snake.
It would lead him perfectly to the workshop.
Team Leader Park opened the office door and slipped out, but Suhyuk didn’t follow. He remained right where he was, in the middle of the perfectly soundproof office.
After all, the thread would track her position for him.
Right now, in front of Suhyuk sat a smug pig who deserved to be converted into Hell Points on the spot.
Then the CEO’s smartphone vibrated.
He had been lounging with a cigar in his mouth after Team Leader Park left, but the moment he checked the caller ID on the screen, he straightened up in alarm.
“Y-yes, sir! It’s me.”
The sneering arrogance from before was gone without a trace.
His voice was thick with sycophantic deference.
“Yes. I already sent Team Leader Park personally to move the workshop today. Ah, don’t worry, sir. She’s meticulous when it comes to work—there’s no one better.”
Behind the CEO, Suhyuk in his Reaper’s Robe fixed his gaze on the phone screen.
Kim Kyung-su
Suhyuk’s eyes flashed coldly.
“Huh? Oh, tonight? You’re coming yourself because of the workshop relocation? Yes, yes! We’ll have everything perfectly set up before you arrive. We’ll have it all ready so you can start work the moment you get here. Please come safely, sir!”
The call ended.
Tonight, Kim Kyung-su would personally visit the new organ-harvesting workshop Team Leader Park was preparing.
Tonight. I finally get to see Kim Kyung-su’s face myself.
