Chapter 198: True Immortal on Earth
Běihǎi Wūyǔ Ridge.
Once, this place was a popular tourist destination.
With its proximity to the sea, many people loved to come here.
Lan Xiaobu stood where the hustle and bustle of the past was just a faint memory.
In just over a decade, various amusement parks, hotels, and residential areas had all become ruins, overgrown with vines.
A few fierce beasts that had not yet evolved into demon beasts rushed out of the vines toward Lan Xiaobu, but before they could reach him, they fell to the ground, lifeless.
"What are you doing here?" A blond, blue-eyed man walked out from the sea and stood before Lan Xiaobu.
Lan Xiaobu recognized this man as the only Spirit Refinement Realm cultivator on Earth.
He wondered why this fellow wouldn’t leave since there were others from Kunlun Mountain who could teleport to the Spirit Refinement Realm.
"I'm here to find a friend of mine who went missing here years ago," Lan Xiaobu thought of Luo Caisi and felt increasingly worried.
His Divine Sense could not locate her presence anywhere on Earth; the possibility that she had encountered trouble was high.
"Aren't you afraid of me?" The blond man looked at Lan Xiaobu in surprise.
Given that he had walked over from the sea, it was clear he possessed strength far beyond that of the Golden Core Realm.
Lan Xiaobu chuckled lightly.
"You're merely at the Spirit Refinement Realm; you are far from instilling fear in me."
"You can see my cultivation level?" The man stared at Lan Xiaobu in shock, suddenly reaching out toward him.
However, the space suddenly thickened, and his hand moved at an agonizingly slow pace.
Lan Xiaobu lightly patted his shoulder.
Realizing he could not stop Lan Xiaobu's movements at all, fear flickered in the blond man's eyes.
What level of cultivation was this?
"Why do you stay on Earth instead of leaving now that you have reached the Spirit Refinement Realm? Isn’t there a teleportation array on Kunlun Mountain?" Lan Xiaobu asked, puzzled.
He speculated that this man's cultivation technique might also be from Kunlun Mountain, given that he spoke fluent Chinese.
Kunlun was Huaxia's mountain range, yet the strongest individual turned out to be a foreigner.
He wondered if the disciples of the palace were stronger than this foreigner.
The blond man suddenly noticed he could move again and spoke respectfully, "Senior, I want to leave, but I'm afraid I can't."
"Why?" Lan Xiaobu asked, confused.
This guy was the strongest on Earth; anyone trying to stop him from reaching the teleportation array on Kunlun Mountain should be futile.
Although he was a foreigner, he had evidently studied Huaxia’s culture well.
The blond man’s tone became even more respectful.
"There is a terrifying individual on Earth whom I have trapped on an island. I have to keep watch over this island, as I'm worried that if I leave, he will escape."
"Is he more powerful than you?" Lan Xiaobu grew more curious.
Was there someone stronger than the Spirit Refinement Realm on Earth? This blond man was almost at the mid-stage of that realm.
The blond man's eyes flickered with a hint of fear.
"He is much stronger than I am. When I had just entered the Golden Core Realm, I was practicing on an island when a spaceship fell from the sky. I didn’t understand what was happening at the time, but that man crawled out from the ship, laughed loudly, and then grabbed me. He spoke many words, but I couldn't understand them. Then he touched my brow, and suddenly I felt it was a language. Afterward, he asked me numerous questions. Upon learning Earth was a mortal planet, he rejoiced and said he would refine Earth into a small world."
Lan Xiaobu was shocked.
Refining Earth into a small world? That was even more ruthless than the technological civilization enslaving Earth.
"How did you survive?" Lan Xiaobu looked at the blond man in disbelief.
He found it hard to comprehend how this person could be alive facing someone with the ability to refine Earth into a small world.
He was sure that this person's strength surpassed his own; at least, he could not turn Earth into a small world.
Refining a planet into a small world required more than just cultivation; it also needed top-grade materials for a small world, along with being a master of weapon refining.
"I thought I was doomed as well, but he left me alone. Then he grabbed his own neck, his face pale, sweat pouring down, staggering in place. I was already at the Golden Core stage then. I speculated that something was wrong with him, so I desperately attacked his Purple Mansion, but he didn’t resist at all."
As the blond man reached this point, sweat dripped from his forehead.
He worried that Lan Xiaobu wasn't really from Earth.
"Go on," Lan Xiaobu urged, his expression growing serious.
This was definitely not a trivial matter.
"I shattered his Sea of Consciousness and chopped off his head, then burned his entire body, yet he still did not die..."
Lan Xiaobu understood that the other party had a Primordial Spirit, and it should still be alive.
What puzzled him was why that Primordial Spirit hadn't attempted to possess this blond man.
"Is the ring you’re holding that person's?" Lan Xiaobu pointed at the ring in the blond man’s hand.
The blond man quickly shook his head, pulling a ring from his pocket and handing it to Lan Xiaobu.
"This ring belongs to that person. The one I have is from the spaceship. At first, I was overjoyed to obtain this spatial ring after destroying his body, but I couldn’t unlock its restrictions. Later, I found a few jade tablets on that spaceship and learned of the existence of Primordial Spirits. That Primordial Spirit must be in a problematic state; even after I destroyed his physical body, it didn't attack. It just hung suspended nearby in a daze."
"How did you trap that Primordial Spirit?" As Lan Xiaobu asked, his Divine Sense scanned the island where the blond man was located.
In one corner of the island, there was indeed a trapping array, which he was referring to.
The blond man replied, "I found two other rings with opened restrictions on that spaceship. By scanning them with my Divine Sense, I could obtain their contents. In one of the rings, I found a level-four trapping array disk. I hurried to refine one layer of the array's restrictions and trapped that Primordial Spirit with it, then continuously refined the restrictions to strengthen the trapping. However, since last year, the array has been acting up, and it's getting harder to manage. Fortunately, I borrowed spiritual stones and techniques from the two rings, and I've reached the Void Spirit Realm. With my increased cultivation, I’ve barely managed to suppress the array again."
Bringing his Divine Sense down onto the ring in his hand, Lan Xiaobu found that its restrictions were at the ninth level, no wonder the blond man couldn’t open it.
If that man’s physical form was still intact, unlocking this ring would take some time.
However, Lan Xiaobu, having dismantled the ring's restrictions in just the time it takes to burn a stick of incense, was shocked by what he found inside.
Inside the ring lay spiritual stones of a quality clearly higher than ordinary upper-tier stones, and he speculated that they must be true fairy crystals, of which there were hundreds.
With fairy crystals, it meant he’d at least reached Earth Immortal status, or possibly even True Immortal status.
Lan Xiaobu took out some of the fairy crystals, put in a stack of upper-tier spiritual stones, and handed the ring back to the blond man.
"The restrictions are opened now. There are some fairy crystals inside; I took a few and replenished it with spiritual stones and pills. You'll find it useful."
"No, I don't need it; the things you opened should belong to you."
The man hurriedly waved his hands.
Lan Xiaobu gave him a light pat on the shoulder and insisted, "You don’t need to worry. I’m Lan Xiaobu, a Huaxia person, here to look for my friend. There's also a five-colored fairy herb inside this ring that will help you reach the Human Immortal Realm."
Seeing that Lan Xiaobu truly did not intend to keep the ring, the blond man gratefully accepted it.
"Thank you, my name is Eddie, and I come from Greece."
Lan Xiaobu followed Eddie back to the island where he lived, which was shaped somewhat like a curved sword.
In the cave where Eddie practiced, a level-four array disk sealed a shadow that flickered in and out of existence.
Lan Xiaobu understood that if this Primordial Spirit truly were a True Immortal, then something must have gone terribly wrong.
Otherwise, a mere level-four array wouldn’t have held it.
However, Eddie's concerns were valid; the level-four array was swaying noticeably, likely only able to function for a few more months.
Eddie knew that this Primordial Spirit would break free sooner or later, yet he remained here alone to guard it, continuously using his Divine Sense and true essence to assist the array in suppressing the ever-looming threat.
It took great character to act this way, unlike the Seven Sounds Sect, who barely put in an effort before creating chaos.
Lan Xiaobu took out a set of array flags and set up a level-six trapping array outside.
As Eddie had come from Earth, he had never encountered any array masters or alchemists.
Witnessing Lan Xiaobu effortlessly lay out a grand array that he could not comprehend filled him with respect.
Once the trapping array was complete, Lan Xiaobu removed the sealing array disk.
A somewhat dazed Primordial Spirit rushed out, instinctively forming a Divine Sense imprint aimed at Eddie.
The Primordial Spirit had not entirely regained its strength and merely acted on instinct.
Eddie turned pale; he felt the pressure of death.
The imprint of divine consciousness was hurtling toward him, yet he could not dodge away.
Lan Xiaobu threw a punch, and Eddie, held tight by death's grip, immediately felt a sense of relief as the imprint directed at him dissipated.
Before the Primordial Spirit could attack again, Lan Xiaobu unleashed a Soul Thorn.
A shrill, agonized scream echoed as the Primordial Spirit grew increasingly frail.
Yet at that moment, it did not continue its attack but transformed into an invisible shadow and darted away.
Bang! The Primordial Spirit was halted by Lan Xiaobu's trapping array, barely holding its form together.
"Stop! I am from the Hundred Abyss Mountain. If you destroy my Primordial Spirit, eventually it will be uncovered," it cried, now evidently regaining its senses.
Lan Xiaobu frowned, confused.
What on earth was Hundred Abyss Mountain? He had never heard of it.
Ignoring its plea, he launched another Soul Thorn.
An even more harrowing cry erupted.
"Don't stab me! I'll tell you anything you want to know!"
