Han-cut Takes a Hakko

I read the post and lifted the corner of my mouth. Then, using a throwaway IP, I left a comment.
Hit enter. Three seconds later, a reply.
One more below that.
Another one.
Guilty. All me. This is why I edit.
I pulled my eyes from the monitor and leaned back in my chair. 4 a.m. On the desk: three empty energy drink cans and snack crumbs. Left monitor: Premiere Pro timeline. Right: Hakko VTuber Gallery tab open side by side.
Jeong Han-gyeol. Online handle: Han-cut. The guy who's turned three Hakko mid-tiers into stars. But fewer than ten people in the industry know that.
I've never shown my face. Or real name. End credits just say "Editing: Han-cut." That's my rule. Made it three years ago. Never broken it once.
Refreshed the gallery tab. Upvotes from 24 to 31. Three more comments.
Feels good. I'm watching right now.
I closed the gallery tab and shifted to the Premiere Pro timeline. Next vid's work was half done. Deadline in two days. Grabbed another energy drink.
Sohwa's first message came ten days ago. Profile pic: virtual avatar with pale lavender-silver hair, light purple irises, star earrings on both ears, mole under right eye. Followers: 1,200. Peak Hakko.
That was polite. Really: you won't make revenue. At 1,200 on Jijik Gallery, how many cheese donations a month? Can't cover my rate. Conversations usually end here. "Ah, I see. Thanks." Window closes.
Lie. I'd seen it. Two weeks ago, caught a Sohwa clip someone posted in the gallery. Title: "Hakko with this voice?" Clicked.
Horror game solo play. Character walking dark hallway. Ghost jumpscare from behind. Sohwa doesn't scream. Low voice: "Oh, you're here."
Chat exploded first.
Watched the full 2-hour vid after. Top-tier voice in the industry. Calm low tone, subtle tremble when emotion hits. Few editors can capture that texture.
But editing dragged it down. Audio balance mess, cuts 0.3s late. General viewers don't notice. But stacked, it kills rhythm. They feel "stuffy" without knowing why, bounce early.
Crime against that voice. Thought that then. But not my problem. Should've let it go.
Stopped typing. First client to say that. Usually "Please take care" or "Discount?" This assumed I already knew. And I did. Problem.
Stared blankly at the monitor. Not trust. Baseless conviction. Don't get that with editors. Backlash hurts when disappointed.
Closed DM, headed to balcony for a smoke. Weird person. Not unpleasant. That bugged me.
Test edit done in a day. Usually takes two. First time in one day. Sohwa's horror stream. Pulled 15-min clip from 2-hour full. Fixed audio balance first. Curved BGM volume to her voice freq. Drops 0.5dB when she speaks, rises 0.3s before end. Unconscious picks it up. Leaves "easy listen" impression.
Key part: her blank-faced boss kill. Lavender-silver avatar grips controller stone-faced, boss falls. Slipped in 1-frame wing effect. 0.04s. Invisible to eye. But felt. "Something flashed." Rewatch. 0.1x speed. Spot wings. Screenshot to gallery. "Found hidden wing effect in Sohwa boss fight lol" Upvotes explode. Retweets explode. Views explode. Meme.
That's my job. Good edit isn't "well made." It's "must rewatch."
Sent finished vid to Sohwa. Leaned back, refreshed gallery. 3 min later, reply.
Actually fourteen. But fourteen on test sounds weird.
Froze. Didn't think of that angle.
Why does she keep twisting it that way?
Her reply quick.
Hand on keyboard, typed nothing. Spot on. In horror game, 0.1s swallow from genuine scare—not held scream, real breath stop. Looped it into BGM entry. Viewers tense unconsciously. Tension releases into her "Oh, you're here." Funny now. Was flat before.
She caught it.
Changed subject on purpose.
Weird question. No client asks editor impressions. Editors don't feel—they design feelings.
Beat late reply.
Lie obvious. No reason to pry. Deliver, done. Manager count irrelevant. No emotions. Principle from three years ago.
"Both" lingered oddly. Okay now means okay now.
What?
Chat ended. Sent contract email. Opened gallery tab.

Good question. I wonder too sometimes. Mid-tiers raise rates. Higher rates hit goal faster. Goal hit, quit industry.
But take Hakkos. Every time. Know why. Hakkos only go up. Fun editing the climb. That's it. Nothing more.
Throwaway comment: "This one probably not. Voice alone? lol"
12s later reply.
Below.
Guilty. Bait praise for my edits. If not attention, what is? Mouth corner up.
DM ping. Sohwa.
Fingers froze. Pre-contract full watches means interest before. Gallery clip origin worse—exposes gallery lurker.
Lie.
Heart skipped. She's asking what face I made watching her vid. Not editor question.
Closed DM. Monitor glow lit dark room.
Can't answer. Answering makes me viewer, not editor.
But the problem is.
I laughed editing that scene. For real.
