Episode 42
Episode 42: The Siblings’ Advertisement
The advertisement Baek Seung-hui took on was “Palseong Cider,” and the broadcast they would appear on was the talk show “You Quiz,” hosted by the national MC Yoo Hyuk.
Both were joint appearances with Baek Seung-chan.
There had been concern about whether she would feel burdened appearing on broadcast, but perhaps because she had once prepared to become an idol, she showed no fear at all.
After that, composition requests were postponed until after the advertisement work was completed.
After finishing the discussion, Baek Seung-hui carefully spoke.
"I think I’m done here… would it be okay if I checked out the studio? I suddenly got a good idea…"
She clearly wanted to see the studio as soon as possible.
"Of course. Just a moment."
Ji Pyeong-san smiled and called a staff member, and Baek Seung-hui left with them.
The two remaining in the meeting room continued their discussion.
"There are two advertisements I’d like you to take."
The ones Ji Pyeong-san recommended were a cosmetics brand and an outdoor brand.
"The pay is decent, and more importantly…"
"They’re short-term contracts."
"Yes, exactly."
Ji Pyeong-san smiled warmly and continued.
"Your value has risen unbelievably in less than a year."
Although Baek Seung-chan couldn’t yet be called a top A-list star, he was already being evaluated at a B-tier star level in the market.
Cases like this existed, but they were rare.
"And I believe that with your next project, you’ll firmly establish yourself as A-list."
His voice was filled with certainty.
"When that happens, your value will rise even more. Considering that, signing long-term advertisement deals now isn’t the best choice. Of course, you don’t have to follow my advice."
Ji Pyeong-san knew Baek Seung-chan’s family situation.
He would understand even if he chose money over strategy.
"No, I’ll go with those two ads. I was thinking the same."
Baek Seung-chan agreed.
Even with just these ads, he could resolve his family’s debts.
"As for your next project, take your time reading the scripts."
"Yes, I will."
Baek Seung-chan agreed.
Not long ago, he had been in a position where he had to be chosen.
Now, he was the one choosing.
There was no need to rush.
It was wiser to choose a project with real potential.
His current value proved that.
That evening, he read all the scripts and scenarios.
"Hmm… nothing stands out."
Some had weak stories, others had flawed characters.
Some made him wonder why they were even funded.
After finishing, he called Ji Pyeong-san.
"I won’t take any of the current offers."
Unfortunately, none appealed to him.
Early in the morning for an advertisement shoot, Baek Seung-chan greeted Team Leader Kim Seong-ho.
"It’s cold, get in quickly."
Inside the warm car, they talked.
"You rested well?"
"Yes."
He had taken a week off after the meeting.
He spent time with his family, visiting restaurants.
A trip had been postponed because Baek Seung-hui was busy composing.
"Did you read the scripts?"
"Yes, but nothing stood out."
"I thought so too."
Kim Seong-ho nodded.
"Don’t feel pressured if there’s a gap before your next project. Think of it as preparation for a bigger leap."
"Thank you."
Baek Seung-chan felt reassured.
"By the way, your skin keeps getting better. Did you secretly visit a clinic?"
"Do I look like I did?"
"No."
He knew Baek Seung-chan didn’t spend unnecessarily.
"Just washing my face and using lotion."
In truth, it was due to Cheonyeong Simbeop, but he brushed it off.
Soon, they arrived at the studio.
It was a cosmetics shoot for a whitening all-in-one product.
"Your skin is amazing."
"There’s not a single blemish."
The staff were amazed.
Even the director changed his mind after seeing him.
"No heavy makeup. Keep it natural."
His skin was better than many actresses.
The shoot finished quickly.
Baek Seung-chan perfectly followed directions.
Afterward, he went to Dream Entertainment.
Baek Seung-hui had finished composing the CM song.
"Be honest."
"Alright."
She played it.
“Pop! I want it, want it, refreshing cider.”
The song began with the sound of opening a can.
It lasted about a minute and a half.
"How is it…?"
She asked nervously.
"It’s good."
"Really?"
"It’s really good."
It captured both energy and freshness perfectly.
"The hook is addictive. The opening and ending with the can sound is great."
"Thank goodness…"
She sighed in relief.
"Will they like it?"
"They definitely will."
A few days later, the client loved it.
The shoot went smoothly.
The siblings arrived at the broadcasting station for “You Quiz.”
"Good to see you again."
Yoo Hyuk greeted them warmly.
"So this is your sister? You’re beautiful."
"Thank you."
He immediately spoke casually.
"I loved your song."
"Would you like some grilled rice cake?"
At the mention of food, Baek Seung-hui lit up.
"It’s really good."
She took a bite and smiled happily.
"Delicious!"
Baek Seung-chan thought again how good Yoo Hyuk was at making people comfortable.
Soon, filming began.
"Today’s guests are the genius siblings, Baek Seung-chan and Baek Seung-hui."
The talk show focused on their stories.
"You started acting right after discharge?"
"Yes. My family had debt."
The hosts were moved.
Questions continued—
His journey from extra to lead roles.
Her giving up music, then composing “Glass Doll.”
Their sincerity and talent.
The recording ended successfully.
By December, the broadcast had greatly boosted their popularity.
They were now called “the nation’s siblings.”
Baek Seung-hui’s CM song even sparked a viral challenge.
She was accepted into university and stayed busy with composing requests.
Baek Seung-chan was busy too—
Not with acting, but preparing a birthday gift for his mother.
"Welcome."
He entered a real estate office.
