Episode 32
Episode 32: The Highlight Scene Begins
She wanted to make music for him, but she felt it needed a special theme.
Since he was currently filming a drama, she thought of creating a drama OST.
Usually, OSTs were reserved for lead roles, which made her want to create one especially for Baek Seung-chan.
"My brother said his role is ‘K,’ right?"
As ‘The Outcast Legend’ gained popularity, attention naturally shifted to Baek Seung-chan’s next project, ‘The Killer’s Shopping Mall.’
Because of that, Baek Seung-hui already knew about his role.
However, she only knew that ‘K’ was a silent killer.
"Ah…"
As she read the script, her expression gradually became serious.
The loneliness and wounds of ‘K,’ and the emotions revealed through his relationship with Ji-an, quickly captivated her heart.
After finishing the script, she stood up and went to her room.
She picked up her guitar and began expressing the inspiration that had formed in her mind.
Pluck—, pluck—, pluck—.
The melody was simple yet powerful.
There was a strange sense of loneliness embedded within it.
"I can’t get closer… because you and I are different, shining as you are…"
She hummed lyrics along with the melody, her clear voice blending with the guitar.
The ‘K’ she interpreted was cold and strong on the outside, but fragile within.
"I pretended not to notice… because I was afraid you might break like a glass doll…"
As the lyrics flowed, the melody gradually intensified.
At the peak, just as emotions were about to explode, her hand stopped.
Pluck—.
Baek Seung-hui put down the guitar and held her head.
"Ah, something’s missing!"
She recalled the climax scene from the script.
The moment ‘K’ gets injured while saving Ji-an, and then smiles in relief after confirming she is safe.
It was the only moment where ‘K’s emotions were revealed.
"Would it feel like this…"
She picked up the guitar again, but it still didn’t feel right.
"Like this? Or like this?"
No matter how many times she tried, she couldn’t fully capture the emotional peak.
In the end, she set the guitar down and muttered,
"This won’t work. I should ask him to take me to the set sometime."
The result wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t satisfying either.
To truly understand the scene, she needed to see Baek Seung-chan acting it herself.
"Still, I should organize what I have so far."
She turned on her laptop and began organizing the melody and lyrics she had created.
A title had already formed in her mind.
"Glass Doll."
This song would be both a gift to Baek Seung-chan and a tribute to ‘K.’
Baek Seung-chan finally had some time to rest after a long while.
There was a gap before filming an important upcoming scene.
So he took his family to Songdo.
There was a place he had always wanted to bring them.
When they arrived, his family widened their eyes at the luxurious standalone building.
"Wow! This looks so fancy."
"What kind of restaurant looks like this?"
"Seriously, I wouldn’t even know it’s a restaurant if you didn’t say so."
It was the omakase restaurant he had visited when signing his contract with CEO Ji Pyeong-san.
He had wanted to bring his family there ever since.
"Son, isn’t this place too expensive?"
"Yeah…"
Even knowing he earned well, his parents still worried when he spent money.
"It is expensive, but don’t worry. The CEO already paid for it."
"The CEO?"
"Yeah. He said I’ve been working hard lately and told me to treat Mom to something good."
"Really?"
His mother asked in surprise.
"Of course. Why would I lie?"
It was true.
The day before, he had met Ji Pyeong-san and mentioned he planned to dine out with his family.
When Songdo omakase came up, the CEO had immediately handled the reservation and payment.
"You should thank him."
His mother looked touched.
"Oppa, is your CEO always this caring?"
Baek Seung-hui asked curiously.
"Yeah."
He nodded.
Ji Pyeong-san treated not only him but all artists and staff well.
"That’s a relief. I’m glad our oppas have a kind CEO."
"I’m just one person. Why ‘oppas’?"
"Because Si-woo oppa too."
She smiled playfully.
For some reason, Baek Seung-chan felt reluctant to introduce her to Nam Si-woo.
"I should join your company later too."
"It’s not that easy to get in."
He joked.
"I’m not just anyone, you know. Watch me—I’ll get in."
"Alright, I’ll look forward to it."
Though joking, he believed she truly had the talent to join someday.
"If you’re done chatting, let’s go in. I’m starving."
They entered the restaurant.
"Welcome."
A staff member in a kimono greeted them and guided them to a private room.
Soon, dishes began to arrive.
"Wow, it’s so pretty I don’t want to eat it."
"Really? Then I’ll eat yours."
"Who said I wasn’t eating?"
His mother quickly ate before Baek Seung-hui could take it.
"Wow! It’s delicious."
"Right? Now I get why people come to places like this."
"It’s really good."
"If you want more, we can order more. Eat slowly."
Watching his family enjoy the meal made him smile.
"So this is what it feels like to be full just by watching others eat."
"By the way, Mom, you’re not feeling sick anywhere, right?"
Even after her treatment, he couldn’t help but worry.
"I’m fine. Actually, I feel better than before. It must be thanks to your massages."
"Yeah, people might think you’ve gotten younger."
"Still, if anything feels off, tell me right away."
"Son, just eat your food."
"Alright."
He smiled and stopped.
About an hour later, the meal ended.
"That was great."
"Thank you, son."
"Oppa, next time I’ll treat you!"
"I’ll look forward to it."
Everyone looked satisfied.
On the way home, he noticed his mother staring at her phone.
"Mom, what are you watching?"
"Our son’s drama."
On the screen, ‘The Outcast Legend’ was playing.
It had now surpassed 8 million cumulative views.
"You’re watching it again?"
He knew she had already watched it over ten times.
Baek Seung-hui answered instead.
"She’s not watching the drama—she’s boosting views and checking for hate comments."
"Hate comments?"
"Yeah. If she sees one, she dislikes it and reports it."
"Really?"
"You didn’t know? She’s been doing it since day one."
After her treatment, their mother had quit her job to recover.
"Mom, is that true?"
"I don’t do it all day… just sometimes."
"Which means all day."
She turned red with embarrassment.
They all smiled.
Then Baek Seung-hui added,
"Dad shouldn’t laugh either."
"Why?"
"He got into a comment fight with a hater. He lost because he types too slowly."
"Is that true, Dad?"
"Ahem… that guy kept saying you were ugly and couldn’t act."
His father cleared his throat awkwardly.
Baek Seung-chan felt both amused and touched.
The next day, Baek Seung-chan headed out for filming.
"Good morning, Team Leader."
"Morning, Seung-chan."
Kim Seong-ho greeted him warmly.
Then he noticed someone behind him.
"Seung-hui, good to see you."
She had insisted on visiting the set after reading the script.
"Hello."
She greeted him politely.
"Baek Seung-hui,"
Seung-chan called from the car.
"Stay close to the team leader and don’t wander around."
"Do I look like a kid? Don’t worry."
Still, he couldn’t help but worry due to the action-heavy set.
When they arrived, the atmosphere was more serious than usual.
Today was the filming of a key highlight scene—
Baek Seung-chan and Ma Dong-gi’s action sequence, along with Ji-an’s awakening.
"Ready… action!"
With the director’s signal, filming began.
Everyone watched in tense anticipation.
Among them was Baek Seung-hui, her heart pounding as she finally witnessed the scene she had longed to see.
