The Quest the Drone Brought
I'd burned myself white.
I'd always thought that was just a figure of speech for giving it your all. Turns out this was exactly when you used it.
"Ugh… I'm so drained…."
"S-stop it…! You animal…!! Ah—! That hurts…! Deeper… just a little deeper…!!"
"……"
Even her sleep-talk was perverted.
Then again, we'd gone at it like lunatics all night long — hard enough to produce sleep-talk like that.
I came, and came, and came, and came, and came again.
Her face, her mouth, her chest, her stomach, her ass, her womb.
I marked every inch of her with my seed, no place left untouched.
Thanks to that, I was facing the most exhausted morning since dropping into this webtoon world.
"Ah—!"
The second I put my foot down to get out of bed, my legs gave out and I nearly face-planted.
I forced strength into them and staggered out to the living room — only to feel a sharp, freezing chill from somewhere.
"……"
"……"
I turned toward that ice-cold aura and found Han Nari sitting cross-legged on the sofa, arms folded, glaring daggers at me.
"G-good morning…."
"It's lunchtime."
"Huh…?"
"I said it's not morning — it's lunch!!!"
"Ah… r-right…?"
"Ugh…!!! Hmph!!"
"……"
Han Nari suddenly exploded, then shot to her feet and stormed into the kitchen.
I'd been about to grab some water, but at this rate I was better off going next door….
"Where do you think you're going?!"
"Huh?? Oh… I was just gonna get some water…."
"…Come sit down. I'll get you water."
I shuffled awkwardly into the kitchen. Nari slammed a full cup of water onto the table hard enough to rattle it.
And on that table, a meal was already set.
"I'll bring the soup once it's heated. You can eat then."
"Thanks… but why are you so mad?"
"Ha…!! What did you just say?!"
"……"
"I really…!! I really hate this!!!!!"
Then why are you scooping rice and soup for me?! You're making this so awkward!
Was she pissed because I slept with O Jihye?
But why get angry about that?
Nari already knew what Jihye and I were to each other.
Back in the jjimjilbang, Jihye had sucked me off right in front of her.
And even if she denied it out loud, Nari was basically in a situationship with Yang Jaeyeol.
"Nari."
"What?!"
"Are you mad because I slept with Jihye?"
"……"
She bit down hard on her lower lip and twisted her face, but she neither confirmed nor denied it.
Which meant yes.
"You and Jaeyeol…"
"No! We're friends! I already told you last time — we're basically family!!"
"Yeah, but…"
"You're so mean… sniff…!"
"Hey…!"
Tears started rolling down her cheeks as she hiccuped and sobbed.
"It was my first time for everything… Oppa was my first for everything… sniff…! I hate you!!!"
"Hey, Han Nari…!"
Nari ran out of the apartment in tears. As bewildering as it was, at least I got to eat my meal in peace.
I'd have to talk to her properly later.
Jihye finished eating, said she was still tired, and went right back to bed.
I took a shower to clear my head, dug through the apartment for some clothes, threw them on, and headed next door.
"O-oh, you're here…?"
"You're here? Hehehe~"
"……"
"……"
Everyone looked awkward and avoided my eyes.
Only Gihun greeted me with a filthy grin.
(Was it good?)
(Was what good?)
(What do you think~ The noises last night went on and on~ Hehehe…!)
(You heard all of it?!)
(How could we not? People thought something was wrong and nearly came running over — total chaos~ Hehehehe…)
(……)
So that's why everyone's reacting like this.
Great. Super comfortable.
But even if we were loud, a high-end residential-commercial apartment shouldn't have that bad of soundproofing, right?
Maybe a window was cracked open?
"Hyung."
"Huh??"
"How are you planning to get to Yeouido?"
"Ah… Yeouido…."
Last night over drinks, I'd said that if no rescue helicopter showed up, we should head for Yeouido.
They must have woken up first and already been talking about it.
"But… what about waiting a few more days…? A rescue helicopter might still come!"
Choi Huijin had a point — a rescue chopper might still show.
That was why we'd come here in the first place.
But today was day three.
If nothing came by the end of today, waiting any longer was probably just wasting time.
"Why do we have to go to Yeouido, though?"
Ah. Right. I hadn't explained that.
But this was basically spoiling the webtoon — would the words even come out in front of these kids?
"The military is stationed in Yeouido."
"Yeouido??"
"The military??"
Huh? It worked?
What the hell are the rules for this?
Whatever. Good enough.
"Soldiers have completely taken over the National Assembly Building and all the annexes on the grounds. A ton of nearby residents who evacuated early are gathered there too."
"Whoa…."
"If we get to Yeouido, the army…"
"But hyung, how do you even know that?"
That one was unnecessarily sharp.
I looked at Yang Jaeyeol and lied without even wetting my lips.
"I overheard it on a radio at the police station."
"Ah…."
"Police station?? What the hell did you do over there?"
"You shut up for a second. Anyway, that's why I'm heading to Yeouido. The rescue helicopter probably came from there too. What do you all think? Stay here, or go to Yeouido?"
"I… like I said earlier… I think waiting a few more days would be better…."
"Me too…"
"Same. Instead of moving right away, I think we should wait a few days and see if a quest pops up."
Not just the girls — even Park Mingu threw his weight behind waiting.
But the leader of this group was Yang Jaeyeol.
Sure, they moved according to my opinions and decisions, but that was only because Jaeyeol followed my lead without complaining.
Right now, he was silent.
This was exactly when I needed Han Nari's help.
Back at the jjimjilbang, when Jihye, Nari, and I had talked privately, we'd set up hand signals between us.
If a quest came up that forced me to take Nari's virginity, I'd cross my index and middle fingers as the signal.
There was no quest this time, but I was in a situation where explaining myself was awkward — so I crossed my fingers as a request for her to back me up.
Nari, who'd been pouting and glaring at me, spotted my fingers tapping against the floor and blinked rapidly.
"Ah…! I-I'm for it!"
"Nari!"
"For real??"
"It's dangerous!"
"Why are you agreeing?"
"W-well… today's already day three! When we got here, they said that video was filmed a week earlier, so it's already been ten days. Waiting any longer is pointless."
"Now that you mention it…"
"Right. If they were coming, they'd already be here."
"B-but still…! There's a chance they might still come!"
"My call is that actively moving beats clinging to an uncertain hope. Every time we've done that so far, the results have been better. Choosing to clear the zombies in the jjimjilbang. Coming here."
Nari's aggressive pitch swung the mood.
And decisively, Jaeyeol's heart moved with it.
"If that's what you think, I'm in too. Same as always — I'll do whatever hyung decides. I trust you."
"Well… then I guess I…"
"I'm in too."
"Same."
"I-if everyone's for it…"
"Fine… I'm in too…"
And just like that, we decided to head for Yeouido.
The problem was how.
"Two options. Follow Line 5 through the underwater tunnel, or cross Mapo Bridge."
"Th-then wouldn't the subway be safer? There's screen doors, so there shouldn't be any zombies on the tracks!"
"Oh~ Look at Seonye saying something smart for once."
"I've always been way smarter than you, okay?! You barely even studied better than me…!"
"Why are we talking about studying right now?! This kind of smart is a totally different category!"
"You two can settle who's smarter later. Let's finish this conversation first."
"Yes… because of him…!"
"Whatever~"
Like Kim Seonye said, the subway felt like the safer choice right now.
But what if the screen doors were broken? Or if zombies had spawned inside a moving train?
The height difference between the tracks and the platform was huge — once zombies fell in, they couldn't climb back out.
That meant we could run into a packed mass of zombies with nowhere to scatter, on a subway track with no escape route.
"What if hyung and I go down and check it out first?"
"Do you know how many floors down Gongdeok Station is?"
"Hang on. Let me look it up on my phone. Ah… so… three floors underground!"
"Three floors underground…"
"Um… shouldn't we check Mapo Bridge too…? If both are dangerous, we should compare them and pick the slightly safer route…."
"Lee Jeongyeon…"
"Huh??"
"Not you too. Why does everyone keep saying smart things all of a sudden?! Are you guys sick or something??"
"Ugh…! Stop joking around! This is a serious conversation!!"
"Sorry…"
"Sheesh… I thought I was gonna get yelled at."
"Then maybe stop him a little…!"
"Why would I?"
She was right.
If both routes were dangerous, picking the safer one made sense — and if the path to Mapo Bridge wasn't that bad, there was no reason to force the subway.
So did that mean we had to go all the way down to Mapo Bridge and come back?
"Mapo Bridge is about one kilometer from here."
"……"
Too far.
If we went that far, we might as well just cross the bridge.
My real goal wasn't sticking with these kids forever — it was joining up with the protagonist's party.
But still…
"Both of you shut up! You idiots!"
"This bastard keeps saying stupid shit!"
"He started it first!"
"I really hate this…!"
"How are you guys still exactly the same as high school?!"
"Leave them. Everyone already knew they were like that."
Had I gotten attached already?
I wanted to survive with these kids. I didn't want any of them to die.
Two heads really were better than one — even if both were blank sheets of paper.
We laid out our problem to Kwon Suhyeok's group and the older guys' group, and a solution appeared.
The one who offered it was a middle schooler from the older guys' group, of all people.
"See, Dad! I told you I'd be useful!"
"Ha… okay, that actually is useful…."
The middle schooler shouted triumphantly at his dad, then ran over to me.
"Hyung!! I brought it!"
"Whoa~ It's bigger than I expected."
"It's super expensive!"
"But it shows live feed, right?"
"Of course! Watch this."
He set the drone on the floor, stepped back, and used the controller to lift it into the air.
The screen mounted under the controller immediately lit up with the drone camera's feed.
"Ohh! The resolution's insane too??"
"I told you it's expensive~ Hehe."
"But this thing can fly all the way to Mapo Bridge, right?"
"Obviously!"
Before I knew it, people had crowded around the middle schooler, all eyes locked on the controller screen.
Cars tangled every which way on the roads. Even more zombies than cars. And finally — Mapo Bridge itself.
"Hyung… we're going through there…?"
"……"
The roads had been bad enough, but the situation on Mapo Bridge was pure hell.
Every so often a zombie free-fell into the Han River, but the numbers dropping were a drop in the ocean compared to the massive horde occupying the bridge.
The one silver lining: there were a lot of cars too.
If we had no choice but to cross Mapo Bridge, using the vehicles — especially high-clearance ones like buses — could keep the risk to a minimum.
But there might be an even better method than that.
"Hey, Dongho!"
"Who's Dongho?! It's Seongho!"
"Whatever! Bring the drone as low as you can!"
"I can't! If a zombie touches it, it'll crash!"
"Just low enough that they can't reach it!"
"Th-this is as low as it goes!! Any lower and I'm serious — this thing is crazy expensive!!"
"……"
They reacted.
The zombies responded violently to the drone's noise — jaws gaping, arms stretching upward.
"Yeongho! Take it out over the river, just like that!"
"It's Seongho!!!!"
Maybe this single drone would guide us safely all the way to Yeouido.
But this drone… the camera was almost too good, wasn't it??
"Ohhh…!"
"D-don't look!!"
"Dad! Move your hand! I'm grown up now!! I have a right to see too!!!"
"The mouth on this kid…!! What right do you have to see anything?!!"
The dad desperately covered his son's eyes — while failing to look away from the screen himself.
A man and woman locked in heated passion, going at it since morning.
But the woman — breasts crushed against the window, being taken from behind — seemed to have spotted the drone outside.
"Hey! Get out of there!"
"I can't fly away if I can't see! And is it over already?! Ah, why!!!"
What the hell was she doing, though?
The woman being taken from behind started rubbing her finger against the glass.
Slowly. Carefully.
Then she breathed hot air onto the window, fogging it up — and letters appeared.
[Help me]
It wasn't mutual passion.
Only the man behind her was having a good time.
And apparently, this was another way to receive a quest.
