Script Dive and Scuba Prep
A movie script...
A building in Naegok-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul. From outside, a faint light leaked through the window of a darkened conference room on the fifth floor.
In the middle of a fairly spacious conference room about 5 pyeong in size sat a long rectangular table, with four men sitting silently on either side—two on the left and two on the right.
A silver screen hung on one wall of the conference room, strongly illuminated by the light from the slide projector at the end of the rectangular table. Projected largely on it was the topic of today's meeting.
[SAT Project]
As everyone kept a silent pact, the man seated at the upper left from the head of the rectangular table fidgeted as if itchy. Shin Heon-su, the planning coordination director in charge of budgets and personnel at the company, spoke in a languid voice.
"It's running pretty late."
When no one reacted to his words, Shin Heon-su—the planning coordination director with graying hair, silver-rimmed glasses, and sharp eyes—pointed at the enlarged text on the screen and spoke.
"Third Deputy Director. What does the project name mean?"
At the planning coordination director's question, the silence broke as if a vow had been shattered. Seo Nam-gu, the first deputy director known as the American expert in charge of North Korean intelligence and overseas national interest information collection, responded.
"SAT usually refers to the U.S. college entrance exam... but it can't be that."
In response to the first deputy director's words, Kim Ju-hwan, the second deputy director handling counterintelligence, public security investigations, and counterterrorism domestically, replied.
"It seems like they named it something ordinary to prepare for any information leaks. Probably intentional."
At that moment, Kim Sang-gun—the third deputy director with a bear-like build and arms as thick as a woman's waist—slowly rose from his seat after silently listening to the conversation. The youngest in the conference room, typically in charge of cyberterrorism, communications intelligence, and technical intelligence, stood straight and spoke.
"SAT stands for Special Agency Team. They don't sign regular employment contracts with the company. It's a name given to a team temporarily specially hired on-site only when urgent matters arise overseas that need handling, to process those tasks."
At the third deputy director's answer, Shin Heon-su, in charge of the company's budget, threw another question.
"So, no salary from our company to that team during normal times? Budget only when an operation comes down?"
"Yes. That's correct. During normal times without operations, they live under their own identities, and only when something happens is budget executed in the form of allowances."
Pleased with the third deputy director's response, the planning coordination director nodded with a satisfied expression.
"Not bad. The third deputy director used his head well. That money is all taxpayers' money, after all. We have to save as much as possible."
At that moment, the conference room door opened, and bright light from outside flooded in. A sturdy young man who appeared to be a secretary entered first, holding the door handle, and said in a low voice toward the people.
"Director. He's coming in."
Instantly, everyone in the conference room rose from their chairs.
A few seconds later, an elderly man in an expensive-looking black suit strode in, exuding charisma. The man, apparently the director, sat in the head chair pulled out by the secretary and waved his hand dismissively as he spoke.
"Sit comfortably, everyone. Why do you keep jumping up like that?"
As everyone sat back down, the director addressed the room in a voice tinged with a slight Gyeongsang-do accent.
"Sorry. The meeting with the VIP ran longer than expected. Alright... I understand today's meeting is chaired by the third deputy director. Let's hear what it's about."
At the director's words, Kim Sang-gun, the third deputy director, stood and walked toward the wall with the screen.
Standing in front of the screen, the third deputy director bowed his head to the room and spoke.
"First, I'll briefly explain the background behind launching this project. Recently, with the strong will of the newly inaugurated VIP, our company's activities and intelligence collection related to domestic politics have been completely prohibited. This measure was something the VIP had in mind even during his candidacy..."
The director raised his hand, cutting off the third deputy director.
"Third deputy director. The intro's too long. Make it short."
"Yes, understood. Ahem. Ahem."
Slightly flustered, he coughed into his fist a few times before continuing.
"For these reasons, a new organizational restructuring occurred within the company, inevitably producing surplus personnel and resources. To utilize them as efficiently as possible in line with the rapidly changing global situation, we've launched an overseas special team capable of swiftly responding to various emergencies such as international financial fraud, terrorism plots, arms trafficking, and more. We call this SAT..."
During the third deputy director's explanation, the director raised his hand again.
"Hold on."
"Yes, Director."
"It's an overseas special team, so why is the third deputy director explaining it? Does that mean you'll manage that team from now on?"
"Yes, that's right."
The director turned to look at Seo Nam-gu, the first deputy director.
"First deputy director."
Called by the director, Seo Nam-gu—the first deputy director with a plump, oily face—straightened his back and replied.
"Yes, Director."
"Isn't the overseas division under the first deputy director?"
"We'll continue handling general overseas intelligence acquisition. But this new team is a field operations unit responding to the growing white-collar crimes worldwide, so the third deputy director will take direct charge. As I reported earlier..."
"I've been so busy lately..."
The director looked at the third deputy director and said.
"If you two agreed on it, that's fine. Continue."
The third deputy director spoke again.
"Yes, understood. As I mentioned, SAT—Special Agency Team—is an overseas operations unit responding to surging sophisticated crimes. We've formed two teams by region. Asia is close to Korea, so we can manage directly from the company—excluded. Thus, one team in the Americas and two in Europe..."

'Hmm. The third deputy director seems to have a big role early on... Who'd they cast?'
Imagining the scene in his head while meticulously reading the latest revised script sent from BJ, Suhyeon couldn't hold back his curiosity and checked the casting list attached at the end.
Scanning down the casting list, Suhyeon found the actor confirmed for the third deputy director role.
National Intelligence Service Third Deputy Director Kim Sang-gun (Male) = Ma Dong-sik (Confirmed)
'Ma Dong-sik hyung. I had a hunch from the "arms as thick as a woman's waist" part, but he's appearing as a supporting role in this movie. After Crime City exploded recently, he's more than ready for a lead—yet taking a supporting part... I should properly thank him next time we meet.'
Suhyeon continued scanning the casting list.
National Intelligence Service Director (Male) = Seong Kang-ho (Tentative)
'The director role is tentatively Seong Kang-ho hyung. Marked as tentative, so probably a quick cameo... I should thank him too when we meet.'
Suhyeon looked for the other roles in the conference room scene.
'I don't recognize the names for first deputy director, second deputy director, or planning coordination director. I'll have to search them up sometime.'
As Suhyeon folded the casting list to continue the conference room scene, the manager driving the van glanced at him.
"Suhyeon."
"Yeah, hyung."
"We're almost there. Get ready. Traffic's bad—we're a bit late."
"Should be fine. They're on lunch break anyway... Training starts after, so a little late is okay."
"Good. But Suhyeon..."
"What?"
"Does it have to be you? It's dangerous—let someone else."
"Again? You know CG post-processing takes too long. I have to do what I can myself."
"Sigh. Just worried about an accident."
"That's why I'm getting trained early. Don't worry."
"Alright..."
Suhyeon gave his worried manager a warm look, folded the script into his bag, and prepared to get out.
"Hyung."
"Yeah?"
"You haven't eaten lunch yet, right? I had brunch late after sleeping in. Drop me off, eat, then come. I'll grab something after training."
"You okay alone?"
"Of course. No need for you hovering during training. Go eat."
"Got it. I'll be quick."
Moments later, the van stopped in front of the building. Suhyeon grabbed his bag, got out, and entered.
Opening the door to the skin scuba training center on the first floor, Suhyeon approached the woman at the desk staring at her phone.
"Excuse me."
"Yes? What can I do?"
"I have an appointment for skin scuba training today."
"Oh? The instructors are all out for lunch... One sec."
Finally looking up from her phone, the woman's eyes widened in shock, blinking repeatedly.
After a while, she snapped out of it and shrieked.
"Kyaa! Oh my gosh! Oh, oh... Suhyeon! Suhyeon, right?"
"Yes, that's me."
Suhyeon calmed the excited woman, filled out a brief form, submitted it to the desk, and sat on an empty sofa. He pulled out the script from his bag and resumed reading from the third deputy director's lines.
A movie script...
“Both the Americas Team 1 and Europe Teams 1 & 2 operate as small elite security units, each consisting of three agents: a team leader who also serves as a field operative (1), backup agent (1), and liaison (1). Each team leader was rigorously selected for exceptional intelligence to counter white-collar crimes, outstanding foreign language skills, and suitability for field missions. First, the Americas Team 1 agents."
The slide advanced, displaying a resume with a passport photo on the screen.

Reading the scene, Suhyeon nodded slightly.
'This is where I first appear. My role is the Americas Team 1 leader. The script's been heavily revised... Probably aiming for sequels, shifting to a Mission: Impossible-style format. Guess I'm the Korean Hunt.'
At that moment, a man who appeared to be a skin scuba instructor approached Suhyeon.
