Strong Against the Weak, Weak Against the Strong
In a world where hunters are climbers and towers and dungeons have become all too real, modern weapons have always been a mixed bag. That ridiculous magical mana shield—mana, they call it—renders them completely useless, or at best, barely scratches the weakest trash mobs. They're handy for civilians or low-rank hunters, sure, but against anything mid-tier or higher? Worthless. And those insane magical manas don't just stop there; they bend the laws of physics like it's nothing.
Picture this: a giant dozens of meters tall or a beast armored head to toe in impenetrable shell bursts out of a tower or dungeon. The army rolls in with their big, bad tanks and fighter jets, unleashing barrages of merciless artillery and airstrikes. Or maybe a beautiful missile streaks in from some secret military base. And what happens? They don't even kill the damn thing—just buy a little time. Hell, even against goblin trash mobs, you've gotta dump hundreds of rounds just to drop one, thanks to that mana shield bullshit.
Sad story for the arms factory workers, but let's face it: in this day and age, guns and all modern weaponry are literally the epitome of "strong against the weak, weak against the strong." Their usefulness? Utterly ambiguous.
So why the sudden rant? Well...
-Whirrrrr... tick, tick!
-... BOOOOOOM!!!!!!!
"What the hell? Why does this even work?"
It was because those very same modern weapons—the ones that embodied "strong against the weak, weak against the strong"—turned into mana-chewing monsters the moment they fell into my hands.
