Meeting the Editor (2)
After we all finish laughing, a problem arises. This silence—what do I do? The editor isn't saying anything. Am I supposed to speak up since I'm the boss? What a tricky spot. But I'm the president. Time to show 'em my talking skills.
"Um... the videos are growing super fast! Totally awesome! A hundred points. But your editing speed is insane. You gotta take care of your health. What chair do you use?"
If the editor overworks herself and gets hurt, uploads will slow down or stop. We're in growth mode—if it hits a snag, the algorithm might glitch out, and even if we scramble for a replacement, the flavor changes and viewers bail hard. She has to stay healthy.
"Just something I bought online..."
"You can't just use anything. Back health. Neck health—super important. Gotta stretch properly. And wrist care too. Health is number one."
I say it firmly. Gotta visit her place sometime. See it with my own eyes. She's a core member of my YouTube team.
Honestly, on YouTube, she might be more important than me. She makes my boring ass fun.
My live streams pull 200-300 viewers. YouTube subs: 9,213. Videos hitting 10k views pop up once a week.
"I'll swing by sometime when I get the chance."
"Pardon? Where?"
"Your place. Gotta check on my employee's remote setup."
Or save up a ton and get a jeonse apartment? Give her a room? Hmm... needs too much upfront cash.
Jeonse ain't cheap—when would I ever afford that? Pure fantasy. Sena's the best. The absolute best. But... it could work.
Lots of big corp folks live with their managers or editors. Saw videos of 4-5 crashing together. Instant feedback, schedule management on point.
Not quite there yet, but why not think big corp? We can!
Startups aim for unicorn status—who starts thinking small biz? We dream big. No one kicks off with "I'm mid-tier forever" or "I'm doomed." Nah, we're epic. Second coming of Microsoft—Bill Gates started in a garage, right? Google, Facebook, all that. Wait—yeah! I can dream too.
"Do you live with family, Editor?"
"Oh, I live alone."
"Monthly rent? Jeonse?"
"Monthly rent."
"Ooh! Nice. Totally nice."
Perfect setup. Our combined rent wouldn't be much... but where to get the cash? Bank? "My subs are hitting 10k soon. Streamer Super Sena here..." Not enough yet. Who loans 100-200 million to 10k subs? No one's that dumb. Not even me.
Beg parents? No way. Once you start, you keep going. Big moves like this? My hands only. Gotta grow solo. This is what I wanted—doing it 'alone,' 'myself.' If I'd beg in a pinch, why leave home?! Right?! That's the point!
My brain spins faster than anyone's. Crazy ideas flooding in. Pure genius strikes.
"Uh...! Whoa! Wow, jackpot."
Just upgrade from one-room to two-room! Wait, do I need an IQ retest? Too smart! "Editor! Got a killer idea!"
"What is it? Oh! I had one too—vlog maybe. Or Pepero... For a VTuber, Sena, it's too..."
"Nah, not that. Live in a two-room instead of one-room! Save on rent. Buy gear with the savings."
She's staring at me. Huh? Feels familiar. Like family's reaction to my breakthroughs? Did I screw up? Nah, it's solid. Just sharing. But her response? Shocking.
"Um... maybe I misunderstood, but what do you mean?"
"Huh? Uh?"
Didn't get it? Thought she was sharp. Elite vibe, quick-witted, deep thinker... Sigh. Fine. Happens. Even I struggle with one-and-done explanations.
I try again, slow and clear.
"So, you live alone, right? Alone costs a ton, so two-room: I take one, you take one... like that."
Trying to explain properly, I fumble like an idiot. How's she seeing me now? Rethink. Okay. Both on monthly rent—combine! Why? Saves money. Live-in feedback. Key point: not forcing! Totally optional. Reject? Cool!
Everyone's got their vibe! No pressure. Say no, we're good. Really no pressure. Gotta phrase it right.
Ha... gotta read books. They don't stick, but still. No time though. Busy as hell. Tomorrow's content... anyway.
"So... I'm on monthly rent too. Saves cash, right? Brainstorm content on the spot, editing too. Just rambling my thoughts...!"
Eye contact—conversation etiquette, heard. Sticking to it kills the flow. Her pupils shake hard. Hate it?
"Y-Yeah...! Sure... just saying!"
Whew, almost bad-boss vibes. Caught it quick—saved!
"Ah... yes."
Yup. Awkward face and voice. I've grown. Nailed the real-talk control.
"Shall we switch topics? Uh, content? Talk content? Any ideas? Spill freely!"
"Um... well... I thought..."
She opens up shyly.
"Yes! Go on!"
I hype without awkwardness.
"How about vlogs? Or back cam. ASMR?"
Her words: pure chaos. Vlog for a VTuber? That sleepy stuff? Cafe BGM, dozing off—pure sleep aid?
Back cam: torso cam. Seen VTubers do it.
But Maru and Moteok skip it. Reasons?
ASMR next? Whisper whisper. Ear tingles.
Uh... I wanna game...! No games? No success path? But creative vibes...
"Uh... sounds good!"
Her sincerity hits. Good ideas.
"Right? Thought about it—you're too talented to stay VTuber-only. National-level vlog. Healing trips. Study with me... No solid plans yet, but worth trying."
Her longest, clearest spiel yet. Passionate!
"Aha."
I listen over an hour in the cafe. Idea bank. Straight bank.
Ideas: vlogs, ASMR, back cam, VTuber talk show, VTuber mama? Call fan artists 'mama'? Try it. Not thrilled, but most eager...
VTuber rigging renewal. Current one's cheap 30k original—limits clear. Kept delaying. Complex. My tastes matter, but need experts.
Next: 3D features. No hand moves, meh clothes. Joints gotta move, more outfits—agreed.
One outfit forever? Boring. Want pretty, trendy, cute. Even rags on me—my char deserves luxury. Girl-char main's mood.
"No more Awal collabs?"
"Oh, that? Heard weekly now."
"Ooh... good. Sneaky good views. You doing solo Awal?"
"Me? Probably once. Not my jam—can't stick long."
She nods agreement. Curious. Eye contact.
"Boring to watch too, right?"
"Eek, no. Fun. Really fun."
"Hmm... wasn't to me."
Taste gap? Couldn't finish Moteok's 10-min vid.
Anyway, tons of good ideas. Thrilled.
"Um, Editor."
"Yes? What's up?"
Boss mode to editor—no, manager.
"That 3D and clothes? Absolute best!"
"Th-thank you."
"So, could you scout sites? Tried before—mostly Japanese, or couldn't find. I'll look too! Together!"
"Uh... sure."
I chug the rest of my coffee.
"Thanks. And those contents? Solid. Plan 'em, I'll review what I can! What first? Announce on stream?"
Planning's PD job. I'm the talent. She's PD. Roles matter. Listen to experts. No stubbornness. Flexible thinking. I execute her plans.
"Not yet... nothing concrete."
"Take your time! I'll brainstorm too! Hit me when ideas come!"
No slacking. I'll hustle my role. No misunderstandings.
"I'll really work hard! For real."
Declare my drive. Can't seem lazy. It's my livelihood—duh. But concern: not dumping planning 'cause lazy!
"Really... I trust you! My ideas flop hard! That's it. Not 'do it alone'! Tell me if stuck!"
Respect the pro. Mine tank. No misreads. I'll think too!
"Ah, uh. Got it."
"For real...! No misunderstandings...! Tough stuff together. Share ASAP."
Cha Ji-hyun was baffled. Walking along, Sena glances at her phone and mutters, gotta get a new one. Thought it was a joke. Or online buy. Brushed it off. But soon...
Official offline store visit.
"Uh... this one's cute. I'll take it. What do you think?"
"Suits you."
"Foldables are wild... right? Love this."
"Yes. Wild."
"This it is. Good call coming. Offline beats online."
No joke—she meant it. Sena peeks, grins wide.
"Buy now... heehee. Real user gear. I don't splurge. Use phones 3-4 years. This too. Wait—inherited usually. Oh, hold on. Won't pack the box—open and trash here."
Ideas hit sudden. For Cha Ji-hyun, now. Stops Sena's unboxing.
"W-wait. Hold up."
"Why~?"
"Film the unboxing."
"Why?"
"For Shorts."
"Whoaaa... genius...!"
Sena gazes in awe.
"How do you think of that? Never crossed my mind! How?!"
"Thanks. Back to a cozy cafe, vibe it up."
"More coffee?"
"No. Cake... milk. Ade."
"Ooh! Good! Too much coffee = acid reflux, tummy ache. One cup a day max."
"Uh... yeah... bad in excess..."
Cha Ji-hyun drags Sena to a quiet nearby cafe. Sena's antsy. New phone itching her hands.
"Ready? Go go?"
"One sec."
"When? 1 min? 30 sec?"
"5 min... please wait 5."
"Ughhh... 3?"
"No, 5."
"Hiiing... 4?"
"No, 5."
Cha Ji-hyun's firm.
