Chapter 27
"Hyung, you really didn't meet Seo Raon? You're not lying because you're too embarrassed to admit you couldn't get her autograph, right?"
"Damn it, how many times do I have to say it? I didn't meet her!"
The youngest member flinched at the outburst, then retorted with equal force, as if using the recoil for momentum.
"Why are you getting so angry?"
"If you had to repeat the same thing over ten times, wouldn't you be pissed? Even Buddha would lose his temper and get up from his altar, you little brat!"
"But... you know, like when you're standing right next to her, singing and making eye contact? And Buddha isn't as narrow-minded as you are, Hyung. There's a reason he's one of the Four Sages."
"Do you think featuring is the same as a duet? And Jaehee, do you want to die?"
Profanity detected.
Original Intent Score -2
Right, "die" ([ dwijida ], similar to [ dweji-da ]) was also a profanity that lowered the Original Intent Score.
Feeling a sting, I sent my roughly 1,034th request to the System, asking for a relaxation of the profanity, Dead Eyes, and forbidden word criteria.
When I glared at him with narrowed eyes and snapped, Ryu Jaehee whined, "You look scary when you open your eyes like that with that hairstyle!"
Yeah, fuck it. Better whine all you want now while you're still the shortest minor here.
But just try acting like this after you've grown up. I'll throw you out.
I need to hit the weights even harder for that day.
The thought of Ryu Jaehee growing five centimeters taller than me made my brow furrow involuntarily.
Gyeon Hajun, having just finished his makeup, joined us.
This place was currently serving as both the album jacket concept photo shoot location and the music video set.
Filming was taking place in two locations: a studio set and a rented villa.
Today's schedule was to shoot the school scenes.
"I wanted to play the model student class president," Gyeon Hajun grumbled, flapping his unbuttoned shirt to reveal the black short-sleeved tee beneath.
"Why?" Ryu Jaehee asked, his hands tucked into the pockets of his sports brand jersey, a headband keeping his hair in place.
"People always want to try what they haven't done before."
"So you've never been a model student? Or a class president?"
"Both. Well, I was class president once in elementary school."
As I recalled my less-than-exemplary school days, Ryu Jaehee nodded in agreement.
"I kind of figured."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means I thought our amazing Leader Hyung would have definitely been a class president at some point."
"Are you being sarcastic?"
"I'm not being sarcastic..."
When Gyeon Hajun told me to stop picking on the youngest member, Ryu Jaehee's spirits immediately lifted, and he smugly hid behind Hajun's back.
Seeing his smug expression, I lost all motivation to argue and instead reached out to Hajun.
"Jun-a, lend me your glasses. How do I look? Like a model student?"
Hajun handed me his round glasses, which had no lenses. As soon as I put them on, he burst out laughing.
Ryu Jaehee was already bent over, chuckling uncontrollably.
"Those glasses really don't suit you."
"...Really? That bad?"
"Yeah, like eating kimchi with cake?"
I grumbled about his harsh words, but turned on my phone's camera and held it up to my face.
My current hairstyle was silver-bleached hair styled into a sleeked-back undercut. The short sides felt awkward, and I rubbed the prickly hair self-consciously.
Even I had to admit the combination looked off. Without hesitation, I took off the glasses and handed them back to Gyeon Hajun.
I recalled the roles assigned to each member, as written in the storyboard we'd received earlier:
Gyeon Hajun as the model student class president.
Ryu Jaehee as the basketball team's ace.
Seo Yehyeon as the popular student.
Kim Dobin, seemingly ordinary but secretly a social media star.
And my role? Not a delinquent... but the band's vocalist, mistaken for one.
I chuckled dryly, fiddling with the bracelets stacked on my right wrist, visible beneath my rolled-up sleeves.
"Why the vocalist? I've only ever played drums and guitar."
"Whoa, Hyung, you were really in a band?"
"I think I switched from soccer to the band because my friend begged me to fill the drum spot. But even in a band, who comes to school with pomade in their hair?"
"And definitely no one with bleached silver hair, for starters."
We joked about our hazy high school memories until Kim Dobin's styling was complete, then we began filming in earnest.
We shot concept photos for the album jacket while it was still bright, then transitioned to filming the music video.
First up was the group choreography scene, followed by the final shot of the music video.
Once that was done, individual shots of the members began.
Leaning against the wall with a lollipop in my mouth, I suddenly remembered the cigarettes I'd barely managed to quit in my past life.
How much would smoking lower my Original Intent Score...?
But I had no intention of lighting up just to find out how many points it would deduct.
A truly admirable mindset for an idol.
This damn System ignores my requests to ease the standards, yet it pops up at the most inconvenient times.
"Action!"
The current scene required me to smile and shake the lollipop in my mouth at the female lead, who would mistake it for a cigarette and recoil in surprise.
Having filmed countless music videos, acting in front of the camera felt natural and effortless.
When the director called "Cut!" with a satisfied expression, Ryu Jaehee, who had finished his part and was watching, gave a thumbs-up.
"Hyung, you look like a real gangster!"
"Is that a compliment or an insult?"
I rolled a lemon-flavored candy in my mouth and yanked hard on his headband before letting it snap back.
"Ah, Hyung! You're stretching out my headband!"
Unfortunately, the headband wasn't very elastic, so the sound of it hitting his forehead lacked the satisfying thwack I'd hoped for.
After changing outfits, we filmed the band performance scene in one take. I then watched the other members' scenes.
I chuckled at Seo Yehyeon's stiff acting.
And when Kim Dobin, who was playing a school celebrity hiding his true identity on Instagram, seemed too caught up in the concept, I gave him a scalp massage to snap him out of it.
Watching Gyeon Hajun, who was already showing signs of becoming a future idol, flawlessly portray everyone's first love as the class president, I realized only Ryu Jaehee's final solo shot remained, set against the backdrop of the sunset.
Scene 32. Outdoor Basketball Court at Sunset
Jaehee stands on the court, littered with basketballs, repeatedly shooting at the hoop.
The female lead gasps in admiration as each shot swishes through the net.
Noticing her, Jaehee takes her hand and leads her to the hoop, handing her a ball.
With Jaehee's help, the female lead makes a basket. They high-five and celebrate.
That was the gist of it. The synopsis itself was straightforward enough. But the problem was...
"Wow, you're terrible at this."
"Hyung, you try it! It's actually really hard!"
Ryu Jaehee, who had been sweating profusely at my exclamation, turned and shouted back.
Eventually, the director called "Cut!"
Since it was break time anyway, I walked onto the basketball court without hesitation and picked up one of the basketballs rolling around.
I bounced the ball lightly a few times before flicking it toward the hoop. The ball arced through the air and swished cleanly through the net.
"Hey, that was just a lucky shot—"
Before he could finish speaking, I grabbed another scattered basketball and tossed it.
Another perfect shot.
"What was that?"
"I won't act up anymore..."
Seo Yehyeon, who had been watching while drinking water, clicked his tongue.
"Shouldn't you two switch roles?"
"I don't have the same delinquent vibe as Eden Hyung."
"We're giving the delinquent traits to this guy. Honestly, considering his height too, Yoon Eden is the one who really fits the basketball team."
He was right. Giving the vocal role to the rapper and making the shortest member of the team the basketball team's ace? It seemed like a terrible mismatch.
But there was no time to change roles now, and they couldn't afford to film all night, so they decided to give him special training.
"Okay, watch closely. You hold the ball like this."
"Like this?"
"No, what's with your triangular hands?"
"Are yours square, Hyung?"
Whether it was thanks to the special training or not, the filming wrapped up before the sunset was completely gone.
They'd thrown the ball over thirty times, but they'd just cut together the successful shots in editing, or something like that.
With that, today's filming was done. The remaining scene was the house party at the villa.
He bowed at a ninety-degree angle to the director, staff, extras, and the actress playing the female lead, thanking them for their hard work.
With filming wrapped up, I pulled the hood of my hoodie down, cinching the drawstrings to completely hide my hair, and switched my phone to selfie mode.
Ryu Jaehee suddenly barged in and joined the selfie. After we took the shot, I tossed my phone to the youngest member.
"Record a short video of me."
I dribbled the basketball lightly before tossing it toward the hoop, sinking consecutive shots.
After filming for about 30 seconds, I got my phone back.
"We should've had Hyung be the basketball team's ace and me the band's vocalist. Ha, you'll edit this well so I don't look like a total amateur, right?"
"You're worrying way too much about a scene that'll barely last ten seconds."
I flicked Ryu Jaehee's forehead and strode toward Gyeon Hajun, who was already heading to the car.
As I rode back to the dorm, I leaned back against the neck pillow and rushed to complete my Weekly Quests for the day.

- What's this? Are you making a comeback?
- Is this what I think it is? Can I get my hopes up? ㅠㅠ
- Holy shit, they said the same disaster as last time won't happen again! Finally, I can relax and sleep soundly.
└Agreed! I was genuinely worried about My Universe Part 2 coming out.
└Thank goodness we won't have to storm LnL with baseball bats! 😭
-Yuje's hair is still the same, but I'm dying to see Eden's hair! ㅋㅋㅋ Isn't it a bit too tightly wrapped? ㅋㅋㅋ
-Is that last line a signal to beat the crap out of the agency every time they mess up?

Eden, it's going to be tough;;; Still, thanks to you, I'm not worried about ISAC anymore.
As expected of the Search King, he must have been monitoring me. The moment I posted, Ryu Jaehee, who was sitting behind me, reached out and grabbed my shoulder.
"Ah, Hyung! Delete it! It'll expose that I'm not the basketball team's ace!"
"So what if it gets exposed? It's not true anyway."
"Ugh, that's so mean! I'm not talking to you anymore!"
Since my Original Intent Score had plummeted into the negatives, I'd been forced to become more docile. It seemed the youngest member had gotten much more comfortable around me lately.
"Fine. From now on, if you talk to me, it'll cost you ten thousand won per word."
"Wow, that's so unfair!"
"Shut up! Let me sleep!"
At Seo Yehyeon's irritated outburst, Ryu Jaehee obediently clamped his mouth shut.
Smiling contentedly at the sudden silence in the car, I put on my earphones and started playing music.
Even this Hyung can be useful sometimes.
