Chapter 246: The Pervert
"Hello sister, I'm here for a cameo. You can call me Ah Zhen!"
Chingmy Yau arrived at the makeup area, introducing herself in heavily accented Mandarin.
Li Jianqun looked up in confusion, only understanding half of the sixteen words spoken.
Her Mandarin wasn’t great either, carrying a Wuhan accent as she asked, "Hello, what are you here for?"
Chingmy Yau also looked bewildered.
"Sorry, I can’t really understand what you’re saying."
"What?"
"What?"
"She’s here for a cameo! We need to style her as a commoner girl who dies as soon as she appears."
Just as the two were struggling to communicate, a makeup artist from Great Wall stepped in to mediate.
Only then did Li Jianqun understand.
She pulled Chingmy Yau over, sized her up, measured her figure, and picked out a red floral-patterned jacket, a pair of pants, embroidered shoes, and a pair of socks.
"Socks too?"
Chingmy Yau held up a long, sack-like pair of ancient socks in surprise.
"Your character dies and falls to the ground. The socks might show, so not wearing them would ruin the scene."
Li Jianqun explained, and the makeup artist translated.
Chingmy Yau nodded, quickly stripping off her clothes and changing into the costume before having her hair styled into a long braid.
"Teacher Li, how’s it going?"
Chen Qi arrived and, upon seeing her, smiled.
"Not bad at all! She looks good in period costume too. Teacher Li, you’ll follow Director Tsui Hark later—the guy who looks really strange. I’ve already arranged everything... Ah Zhen, come with me!"
"Mhm!"
Chingmy Yau trotted after him eagerly.
"Master, is she your master too?"
"No."
"Then why do you call her Teacher Li?"
"It’s a respectful title. She’s a technical expert, very skilled. You should call her that too and show her respect."
The two arrived at Li Wenhua’s set.
This scene involved Ji Chunhua’s henchmen burning, killing, and looting.
When Yang Yuqian saw innocent civilians dying, he flew into a rage—and one of those civilians was naturally Chingmy Yau.
"Later, he’ll chase you, and you’ll run. He’ll slash you from behind, you’ll scream and fall, then he’ll stab you in the stomach, and you’ll die. Got it?"
Yuen Woo-ping instructed her on the movements—how to react when slashed, how to react when dying, and so on.
Watching this, Chen Qi felt a mischievous impulse and said, "Actually, why not have her die right in front of Jet Li? He sees it, then challenges Ji Chunhua to a one-on-one fight."
"Yeah, that works too!"
"Then let’s do it!"
So they did a test take.
Chingmy Yau ran frantically, chased by a man.
She screamed, fell, and was stabbed to death—right in front of Jet Li, who stood nearby.
Chen Qi was beside himself with glee.
This was another Easter egg only he would understand: Jet Li and Chingmy Yau had collaborated three times—*The Evil Cult*, *High Risk*, and *The New Legend of Shaolin*—with strong on-screen chemistry.
Because Jet Li’s face exuded righteous solemnity and an air of abstinence, pairing him with a glamorous, assertive actress created a 1+1>2 effect.
Rosamund Kwan in *Once Upon a Time in China* and Christy Chung in *The Bodyguard from Beijing* were perfect examples.
After a few test runs, Chingmy Yau nailed the scene in one take.
Chen Qi clapped approvingly.
"Not bad, you’ve improved a little. It’s getting late—if you want to go home, I’ll have someone drive you."
"Master, won’t you take me?"
"I’ll be here very late."
"Then I’ll wait!"
With that, she went to remove her makeup and obediently sat in a corner.
Chen Qi had no time to spare for her and went to check on Tsui Hark’s set.
Tsui Hark was already in a highly excited state, explaining the scene to He Qing and Tao Huimin.
His Mandarin was decent.
"Later, someone shoots you, and the bullet hits the spot where you’re conjoined. Blood sprays everywhere! Then you collapse, struggling to face each other, crawling desperately toward one another before embracing tightly..."
The two girls were baffled, but seeing Chen Qi nearby and not objecting, they had no choice but to comply.
The first shot went smoothly—the two were blasted apart, covered in fake blood, their faces smeared red.
They crawled toward each other and embraced.
"Cut!"
"The embrace isn’t tight enough. It should be fierce, like you’re trying to meld into each other!"
"Cut!"
"Your faces should be pressed together too—cheek to cheek, understand?"
Tsui Hark pulled over a male staff member to demonstrate what "cheek to cheek" meant.
"You’re conjoined twins—dependent on each other yet resentful. In your final moments, you find release together. Capture that feeling."
After some direction, He Qing and Tao Huimin, dressed in bright red robes and smeared with blood, finally embraced tightly, their faces pressed together, murmuring deliriously, "Sister... I finally see you again..."
Their bodies twisted like snakes, writhing with their last breaths until they went still...
"OK!"
"Perfect!"
Tsui Hark’s face twisted with perverse delight.
Tsk tsk!
This guy’s a real pervert!
Chen Qi shook his head, his own face twisting with the same perverse delight—he enjoyed watching it too.
But he thought the scene might be too intense and decided to film a tamer version as backup, just in case it didn’t pass censorship.
Then it occurred to him—this old bastard had directed so many lesbian films that he must have a stash of unused footage, all precious collector’s items.
In the corner, Chingmy Yau was also watching the two girls, her gaze sharp.
"Who are they?"
"Are they Master’s disciples too?"
"But Master doesn’t seem very warm toward them—probably just minor roles... Sigh, I wonder if Master has a girlfriend, how old he is, what he looks like..."
......
With Tsui Hark’s help, Li Wenhua finally breathed a sigh of relief.
With two teams working simultaneously, the day dragged on until everyone was yawning.
Chen Qi finally took pity.
"Let’s call it a day. Go rest!"
"Woohoo!"
The crew cheered quietly, utterly exhausted as they packed up and left.
Jet Li’s group boarded the bus.
He Qing and Tao Huimin, drained from the day’s ordeal, slumped against each other like lifeless salted fish.
Suddenly, Tao Huimin glanced outside and nudged He Qing.
"Hey, look!"
"What?"
"Huh? Who’s that girl? Why is she riding in Little Brother Chen’s car?"
"I heard her call him ‘Master.’ Maybe a disciple he took in Hong Kong?"
"Tch! She looks like a vixen!"
He Qing curled her lip disdainfully.
As the bus slowly left the set, a GMC van followed close behind.
It was already midnight—Chingmy Yau had never stayed out this late before and was nodding off.
Chen Qi didn’t disturb her, only gently nudging her awake as they neared her home.
"Ah Zhen?"
"Mhm? Master, are we there?"
"You did well today. This cameo was extra work, so here’s a red envelope—consider it your payment."
"..."
Chingmy Yau stared at the red envelope in his hand, her lips parting slightly as she resisted the urge to shake her head.
"I can’t take it. I didn’t do much, and you’ve already paid me."
"Different matters. That payment was for *The Orphan*. This is for today. It’s not much anyway—take it."
Chen Qi stuffed the red envelope into her hand.
"Thank you, Master!"
"Hurry home. It’s so late—your parents must be worried."
"Mhm, see you tomorrow!"
Chingmy Yau hopped out of the car and, as usual, watched until he disappeared from sight.
Instead of heading straight home, she opened the red envelope and peeked inside—just 100 HKD, as expected.
But for some reason, it filled her with inexplicable joy.
After a moment’s thought, she tucked the red envelope into her collar, against her skin, before shouting loudly, "Mom! I’m home!"
