“Just wait and see, Professor. In the end, you’ll want to marry me.”
On the day of her high school graduation, Dayeon was nearly sold off to a stranger because of her father’s debts. The person who saved her was Cha Siheon, once her teacher, and her first love.
He was the man who gave her a reason to dream again after losing her mother and, with her, any purpose in life. Having saved her twice, Siheon was someone Dayeon simply couldn’t bring herself to give up on.
Then, one day,
“Miss Dayeon. Would you consider becoming my grandson’s wife?”
Siheon’s grandfather made her an unexpected proposal.
“Let’s do it. Let’s get married.”
It was only a contract marriage meant to put his grandfather at ease. Siheon had agreed solely because he felt obligated to protect the daughter of the man who had once saved his life.
At least, that was what he thought.
“You’ll end up falling completely in love with me, Professor.”
Every time he saw his audacious former student smile at him, the feelings he had desperately tried to ignore began to waver.
“Do you even know what marriage is? Or what married couples do?”
“It’s okay.”
She stepped toward him without hesitation and whispered softly,
“I’m an adult now, too.”
Dayeon’s bold words struck Siheon’s heart like a prophecy.
