Min Seojun has spent nine years working for the conservative opposition People's Choice Party.
Then, as a sacrificial candidate, he's forced to run for mayor of Maesan City, a stronghold of the ruling Together Democratic Party.
He never expects to win. He just wants to avoid embarrassing the party.
For the sake of his campaign, Seojun reluctantly visits his estranged family, only to be insulted and even assaulted by his father, a civil servant more concerned with his reputation and his favored daughter than the son who sacrificed so much for the family.
They've even forgotten that Seojun donated part of his liver to save his sister, leaving him with a Grade 5 military exemption.
So Seojun finally decides he's had enough.
He cuts ties with his family and turns the very thing they've looked down on into a political weapon.
His opponent, Pyeon Seongyeop, is confident that Seojun's past will be easy to exploit. All Seojun has to do is let him believe that, and wait for him to make the first move.
Then, against everyone's expectations, Seojun wins the election.
And that's when his family starts acting strangely.
