How are chapter priced ?

Just like the title said, how do the translators choose how much a chapter is worth ? Is it proportional to the number of words ? Or is it just up to the discretion of the translator ?

I'm asking this because I often find myself not continuing a novel because the price of a chapter is 50 coins for example. With 10$ for 1000 coins you have chapters worth 50 cents alone and sometimes there are hundreds of chapters to unlock. Even though we sometimes have sales, we still need to wait for it and there is no garanty there will even be one.

I know I look like someone asking for freebies but I just need clarification on the economic model of the website.
